We are in the town of Keswick (pronounced Kesick) and it is lovely. On our walk into town today from the cottage we are staying at, we saw the mist coming down over the mountainsides. It was like something out of a movie - truly breathtaking. In Keswick, we decided that Stacey needed something other than sandals so we went on the hunt for a good pair of hiking boots. Success was easy since this is apparently a common place for hikers, walkers, and campers from around the world. We had a traditional lunch of fish and chips then headed out [View Full Entry]

In a major compromise of peace of mind versus traveler's indulgence, we decided that we would only stay in London for one day. So we made a list of the absolute must sees and took off with our map and camera. First Stop - Big Ben! It was as huge as they make it out to be. In fact it might even be bigger than that. And were in the perfect location to take a stroll around Parliment house, catch a glimpse of the London Eye (a huge ferris wheel) and then cross over to Westminster Abbey. Westminster Abbey was the [View Full Entry]

Today, we walked the entire city. Our reward at the end of the city was hottie French Army dudes....for Stacey of course. It's Bastille Day and that sounds way more impressive than it really was. We planned on storming the Bastille, but it's an Opera House now. Not much fun in that. So we thought maybe dinner on the Siene would make up for an otherwise mostly disappointing day but then Stacey ate a bug and that was more protein than both of our dinners combined. After dinner we found the Greek village, but more importantly we found the Cuban Club [View Full Entry]

We spent the day at the Louvre today and to be honest, we now know why American tourists are hated. We walked through the galleries and heard some of the most ridiculous comments. For instance we were in between galleries when we heard one woman say "I wonder what's over there, I'll bet it is something famous." We restrained from saying "It's the Louvre! Everything here is famous." We didn't want to spoil her surprise. July in Pairs must be big group month because there were hundreds of big groups in the Louvre. The group leaders would just raise a little [View Full Entry]

We started the day visiting the cathedrals of Paris - Notre Dame and St. Sulpice. There are really no words to describe the awe of being in the cathedrals. Huge paintings, stained glass windows and the sounds of the bells - all make you feel small. We took a stroll down the Champs Elysse to the Arc de Triomphe and did a whole lot of window shopping along the way. Our last heavenly stop was Montmarte and then it was off to see the night life of Paris! We went to the Moulin Rouge and a bunch of little Parisian bistros [View Full Entry]

Sparkly ones! We arrived in Paris by train and had our first experience with the Metro system. Once we figured out the correct lines, we have had no problems getting around. We made it to the Eiffel Tower tonight. It was extrodinary. We arrived just in time to see the transition of the tower from day to night. As the sunset, the tower lit up with sparkles! Stacey really want to swim in France, I had to talk her out of jumping into the Siene! (Ha!) I LOVE the mini coopers. So I had to pose with one that had the [View Full Entry]

Betcha wondering which one of us....STACEY!! It is a very cute papillon on her left ankle. Niko, her tattoo artist, transitioned blues, pinks, and violets for a very feminine and elegant butterfly. You have to check out the pictures for Stacey's "OUCH" face and the finished product. All I did today was window shop and provide the moral support! Maybe my tattoo is waiting for me in Paris... We'll start this blog entry by sending our deepest sympathies to those who were affected by the attacks in London today. For those of you following our journey, we are not scheduled to be in London for another week or so. We are safe and sound in the coastal region of Brittany, France. Just to reassure you all, we are keeping tabs on the situation and are prepared to alter our plans if necessary. In our travel news, today we went to Lamor Plage...a beautiful little coastal town. Stacey was particularly impressed by the lifeguards. Cute and well...pocket sized. We have [View Full Entry]

WOO! The monkeys are really happy at the zoo at Pont Scorff. All the males paraded by to welcome us. It really was a shame that they were the first exhibit because the rest of the zoo had a hard time keeping up. We discovered that our favorite chataeu is the Chateau de Cugat in Bordeaux....excellent white wine. Must be had by all. Note to broke travelers: Don't take the ferry. It costs a squillion Euro and you might not get the arm they rip off you back! Bon nuit and for us here in the wine country....Salut! [View Full Entry]

Even the ugly weather didn't keep us home today. We headed out to the port cities of Concarneau and Quimper. It was a good French food day. I had a glacier of vanilla and Baileys and Stacey mixed it up with after eight and white chocolate. French lesson for today: glacier = ice cream!! We visted a beautiful church while we were in Quimper and watched the carousel go round as we treated ourselves to some authentic beniets. The rain kept our adventures pretty mellow today so we are hoping for clear skies tomorrow. [View Full Entry]
