Alright, this one was incredible. The pics tell the story better than me. So lets just start with how cheap this trip was. Train ticket to Trento: 5 euro Bus ticket to Giustino/Madonna di Campiglio: 4 euro = 9 euro to get to the slopes Hotel: 30 euro a night x 4 = 120 euro Lift passes: 25 euro a day x 4 =100 euro Skis: 25 euro a day x 4 =100 euro Food and fun x 4 = 60 euro So, for the entire trip, I spent 400 euro, or 500 bucks, for 4 days of skiing. Anyone from next semester that reads this, PLEASE, go skiing. It's the cheapest trip you can get and is easily the most fun! Moving on. So the day before this trip, I didn't even know what hotel ... read more

This one I just forgot to publish while I was over there. This weekend was when I went and visited my relatives Alfredo and Maria Teresa in Cervignano. It was a chill weekend with a visit to a castle on the Gulf of Venice and a visit to some Roman ruins. Alfredo took me to a bar too to watch a soccer match. It was probably the best weekend for my Italian and homemade Italian food. Ill let the pictures do the rest of the talking.... read more

So I haven’t made an entry in about a month, and as I’m sure you can guess, I have done A LOT since Oktoberfest. I suppose the best way to catch up is to make several different entries, and since I’m typing this one on a cruise, I’ll just probably post all of the entries at the same time. With that being said, I’ll start with the wedding between Diane and Fabio Pasquesi (I can’t remember her maiden name). So for starters, this was when I met up with my parents. I met Mom and Dad in Venice, which was surprisingly easy to get to for me. I realize that Venice is one of the most notable tourist cities on earth, but to be honest, I’m not too impressed with it. Let me tell you ... read more

So this entry will be on my time in Asiago. It should be pretty short since it was a pretty relaxing weekend and we spent a lot of time just lounging around at the hotel. So Asiago started on a Friday afternoon when Claudio showed up in a bus to take us to Asiago. We had to climb an entire cliff face to get there. Asiago looked more like Austria, something out of “The Sound Of Music”, because all there were were mountains and rolling green hills with cows on them. We arrived pretty late in the evening, but there was still enough time for me to get on my hiking boots and make it half-way up the mountain before I had to turn back. We had, as is the case normally with Claudio, an enormous ... read more

So now 2 weeks after, I feel I ought to report a bit about my 10 day vacation from my semester long vacation in Italy. It started off in Rome, and at first, just Kalee and Jodie were with me, an we picked up Genny just before we set off for the cruise. Initially we had a bit of a problem that when we arrived, the hostel guy put us in a car and took us to a sketchy part of Rome that was a little over a mile from the train station. I used the excuse that the girls didn’t feel safe there and wouldn’t be able to get back there, but to be honest, I wouldn’t have been able to either…not to mention it was pretty sketchy. I convinced the guy to get us ... read more

If there’s one thing that you should try to do add to your bucket list, I’d strongly suggest throwing Oktoberfest on there. Now considering that the biggest carnival type event I’ve ever been to is the DuPage county fair, I guess I don’t really have too much to compare it to, but I’m fairly certain that Oktoberfest is the world’s biggest celebration on earth. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what language you speak, if you show up at this thing with a smile on your face, you’ll be sure to make friends (and I’ve got stories to back this up too!). There are people from everywhere on earth, all coming to one place for one reason: do drink the best beer on earth…sometimes in obscenely large quantities. I’m not kidding about the beer ... read more

Castles. That’s all I have to say. I thought that England was “the place” to go to see them, but it’s definitely not the case. This freakin country has probably one castle for every 100 people…ok maybe 200. But seriously, every town that we have gone to has had some sort of fortified structure, most times a castle, to remind you that there was a time when the term “built with blood and sweat” wasn’t just a metaphor. These things were just enormous, and the cool thing is that the larger the city is, the larger the walls get. It seems like the cities have retained their size (relatively) since the Renaissance. Don’t hold me to that though, I’m sure some smartass history major will tell me they’ve gotten smaller or something. There are pics of ... read more

Ciao tutti! Sorry this blog took me so long to get started. I’ve been a little busy, but more than that, I’ve just been procrastinating. Here we go! So when I took the flight over here, I didn’t realize that, as of late, Alitalia has been going through some reorganization problems. I’m not sure what the problem is, but all I can say is that I think the plane we flew here on was the same one that I flew over on 8 years ago. It had some pretty uncomfortable seats, but I couldn’t really complain. I didn’t sleep much the night before so my numb butt didn’t really bother me too much. As soon as I got on the flight I started establishing some goals. For instance, I couldn’t really understand anything that they were ... read more
