Day 1- Drew and I woke up at 3 in order to leave and be at his Uncle Don's house by 3:45. We made it out the door a little late, but arrived more or less on time with his Uncle ready to go to drive us to the Orland airport-thank you!! After a tired, but interesting, 2 hr car ride in a flashy Mustang we arrived at the airport and unloaded all our luggage. After waiting in a long line for Jetblue, while wishing we were in some shorter line, we arrived to find out we were in the Domestic flights line instead of International- the shorter line. Whoops, she checked us ainnd after some minor switching around of luggage contents she let us check our luggage even though we were both in excess of ... read more

Nooo, dont tell me that its been 5 days since Ive wrote in here. Ahh, from the start then. Today Moniek and I went into the city of Granada at 1. We walked around the city and ate lunch at a kebap place- of course. At 6 we went to the tea shop where one of our hosts works, but she didnt work until 7, and we had to catch the bus at 6:30, so we left with Salima, one of Belenas (the host)s friends so she could show us the quickest way back which was really nice. Oh yeah, we got acosted by a gypsy woman. She tricked us with her sprig of rosemary by telling us it was a gift, and I thought it would turn out that we had to pay, but wasnt ... read more

Today we arrived in Quentar at 830 in the morning. After some confusion we found the bus stop at 1030 and went up to Quentar. It was a 30 minute bus ride. The girl Esmeralda who is hosting us took us next door to meet the man who manages the CouchSurfing requests for the participants in this village. He told us he likes to host Americans and black people. He said he likes to host Americans because his friend, Axel, who was also there, are Sufis. Sufi (Sufism?) is a small small small religious, mystical sect of Islam, interesting stuff. He said on his CS profile he has to say everything without saying anything, because if he said they were Sufis, a lot of people wouldnt come, which unfortunately is true. We sat there talking for ... read more

Today we left Barcelona. We packed all day and cleaned up. We left some things there that we have to go back and pick up later. The hassle sucks, but Im glad Bea let us leave it there, it would have sucked to have to drag that around too. Around 7 pm we left for the Barcelona train station and arrived really early, around 7:45 for our 9:30 pm train. We hung out and then got on the train no problems. Well except for that I broke the scanning security machine. Ok, I didnt break it, but when I was getting my suitcases one of the metal rolly bars broke off. I didnt bother trying to fix it.... the guy who was the scanner was kind of off-putting, so I didnt feel too bad. On the ... read more

Today we went to the Sagrada Familia. It was interesting, but we didnt want to pay the 11 Euros it cost to go in, so we looked at it from the outsie. Then we went back home to make lunch for Bea and Greg. Well, Moniek made most of the food, but I think I helped a lot... Then...I dont remember...I think...oh! We went out with Jessica and Bea. First we went to a bar, but we only purchased one drink. Which isnt to say we didnt drink more there, because we did. Jessica had brought a 6-pack of beer and so when the waiter wasnt looking we poured it into our glasses. So they kept magically re-filling. Everyone was freaking out, but really I dont think the waiter was paying too much attention to us. ... read more

Wooow, what a couple of crazy days. Friday Moniek and I went to the center to buy clothes for San Fermin. You are supposed to wear all white clothes, with a thin white scarf around your waist and a red handkerchief around your neck. (Supposedly if you dont peope will throw eggs at you, but I never saw that happen) After 3 or 4 hours I had bought a white shirt and white capris. We came back home and started getting ready for San Fermin. Greg was having a bunch of people over for dinner, so around 9:30 they started to show up as we were finishing up. By the time we sat down to eat it was 10:30 so Moniek and I had to scarf down our food and we left around 11. We had ... read more

Hoy fue un buen día. A las 12 Moniek, Greg, y yo fuimos al centro para hacer turismo. Llovía todo el día y fue muy nublado nosotros nos mojamos entonces terminamos comprando un paragua- ¡yo troqué! Él me dijo 5 euros, entonces yo dije, meh, y empecé a alejarme y me preguntó- ¿cuánto? -4? Fue bastante ... read more

Ayer, el 5 de julio fue un día bastante relajante. Monieky yo fuimos a la playa a las dos y nos quedamos hasta las 4. Paramos en una restaurante pequeño para comprar falafels- mm... Luego regresamos a casa. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday, the 5th of July was a pretty relaxing day.
