| 1st December 2007 Joshua | Woah kid, woah - From: Democratic People's Republic of Laos: Northern Laos to Vientiane Your trip is sounding absolutely amazing! First of all, it's not ok to drop the word leeches, and show a picture of the aftermath, without fufilling us anxious readers in on the details! There is no way that the part about the river tubbing was real, unless Heaven really does exist on earth! Glad you're having fun and it seems as though this experience is a life changing one, just be careful and (eventually) come home in, more or less, one piece! |
| 30th November 2007 Jim | Great writing - From: Democratic People's Republic of Laos: Northern Laos to Vientiane Am in awe at your great descriptions of all that you are seeing. As I said in a previous post, I will be doing almost the same itinerary in April 08. Still wondering about how you do your posting to the net tho. Up load from a laptop or just write it out at an internet cafe? Are you happy with your choice of camera? Be well and stay safe, Jim in snowy Washington State |
| 16th November 2007 Jim | April 2008 trip. - From: Into the North: Chiang Mai, Mae Sai (Burma), and Pai Hey again; Will be departing Seattle for Seoul, then on to Bangkok, Laos, Cambodia, Bangkok, China, Bangkok (Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh PiPi), Australia. Will use Bangkok as a home base and stay in different parts of Thailand between trips out every 30 days or so. How do you post your blog's on the internet? By downloading posts and photo's from a laptop to an internet cafe site or just using a telephone jack to your laptop? I really don't want to haul a laptop around the world. Thanks for your other reply, I am still deciding on the Burma side trip as the political situation is still in a funk. Am enjoying your posts and photo's. Don't burn out as some blogers tend to do as the adventure moves on. Stay safe and enjoy the world .... Jim in Washington State |
| 16th November 2007 Rebecca V | Visas - From: Into the North: Chiang Mai, Mae Sai (Burma), and Pai Hey! I was only given a permit to go within 2 km from the border in Burma, I think if you set it up ahead of time you can maybe get tourist visas to Burma still but it's getting harder every day, especially for Americans. As for Laos and Cambodia you can get those at the border easy cheesey! Laos is 30$ US for 30 days and I don't know for Cambodia. You can definitely get all those visas ahead of time (including China) in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Enjoy your travels! When do you leave? |
| 12th November 2007 Jim | Burma Visa - From: Into the North: Chiang Mai, Mae Sai (Burma), and Pai Are you able to get a Visa for Burma, Laos or Cambodia in Bankok or Chang Mai? I will be doing almost this same itinerary in April 2008. I will be adding China also. Am enjoying your observations.... MORE please.... Thanks. Jim in Washington State (it;s snowing today. 1st snow of the year) |
