| 9th November 2009 liliram | I'm glad you went to Boracay! - From: Not another tropical beach..sigh... Hi Kris and Kate! Am glad you enjoyed Boracay. My family loves it there, too much that we never fail to go at least once a year. For some reason, I never blogged about it. Maybe I should, especially about the time we got "stranded" because of a typhoon. Oh yes, a typhoon. And everyone on the island partied as we worried when the next boat would come fetch us , or when food supplies (and alcohol) get depleted. ;-) Don't u just love the sugarfine sand in Boracay? Trust me, it was much more peaceful and fun before the place got developed. But such is the price of progress [:(] Come again when you get the chance. Send me a PM too....hopefully I'd be in town when you're around. |

| 31st August 2009 Chris & Liz Penny | Happyt Birthday - From: Kris's 30th A very belated Happy 30th Kris! It looks like you had an amazing time! Dont' dream too much about England. We have had a lousy summer around Leeds. You are well out of it. We are off to see Chris' cousins in Canada on Friday. Starting off in Vancouver & Victoria, then travelling up Vancouver Island to a place called Tofino on the edge of rain forest. Then back to Victoria and Vancouver. 2 nights in Vancouver and then travelling by the Rocky Mountaineer Train across to Calgary ( 2 day journey through the Rocky's). One cousin lives in Victoria and the rest of the family at Red Deer near Calgary. Lots of trips planned - whale and bear watching, family parties et. We are very excited. We loved it last time we were there, 15 years ago, but did not see BC. We almost emigrated to Canada when we were first married - are glad that we did'nt (we think!) but it is an amazing country. Looking forward to seeing you at Christmas. Know that Trish & Graham miss you lots With love & God Bless, Chris & Liz |

| 6th March 2009 anonymous | - From: Chuc Mung Nam Moi Hi there! Oh, no. Tet is NOT the same celebration as Chinese New Year. There are some variations, so just say it is similar only. For example, in 1983 Tet was 1 month later than Chinese's. Some year recently (I don't remember exactly), it was 1 day earlier. Also, 2011 will be Year of the Cat (Chinese's: Year of the Rabbit). |

| 15th August 2007 michael | happy birthday again - From: Birthday in Bangkok Hey Kris, I know I happy birthday-ed you on Facebook already but this seems more special. It's great being drunk in fornt of one's girlfriend's parents eh? Not that I've done it. I was nastily hung over when meeting Monica's parents for the first time, though. They just thought that I was respecting their culture by not accepting their wine or much food and then vomiting on her dad's shoes. That last bit was made up. |

| 20th April 2007 Michael Huges | a comment - From: Let's go away for a while, you and I... It all looks very nice and makes me want to go on holiday again. I just got back from three weeks in Japan on Sunday and am finding going back to work rather a drag! Hey, if you need to do another visa hop to Cambodia, I really recommend going to Siem Reap, where Angkor Watt is. It's really good to cycle round or get a bloke on a scooter to drive you about. The temples half consumed by trees are good and I like them. |
| 28th March 2007 Mark and Val | thanks! - From: Trat, Trat and double Trat It was good fun hangin with you cats. Take care and keep up the blog. Mark and Val |
| 26th March 2007 Rat on the Road | Directions - From: Monkeys to Elephants... Hi Sue, the elephant camp is near Silverlake vineyard (www.silverlakethai.com), directly opposite the Khoa Chee Chan Buddha image. You can get there by heading along Sukhumvit Road out of Pattaya and in the opposite direction to Bangkok. Watch out for the blue sign for Silverlake on your left and follow these to the camp. It's pretty straight forward. You can drop by anytime for an elephant ride, but if you're interested in a bit more - perhaps doing a half day of mahout training - drop us a line for more details! Cheers Sue and thanks for your interest! |
| 24th March 2007 liz penny | Family News - From: Monkeys to Elephants... Hi Dr Kiss and Dr Kit! So pleased that you continue to love your experiences. Just thought that I would let you know that Claire and Dan have a second son. Born early Tuesday 20th March. Called Benjamino Oliver Patane but will be known as Ben. Weighed 6lbs 3oz. I will be travelling to and fro to London for a few weeks. After that we will be having a week in Tuscany in May walking between the hill towns through Chianti country! Love to you both, Auntie Liz |
| 23rd March 2007 Sue | Forever Elephants - From: Monkeys to Elephants... we are going to Pattaya in may.. can you give me directions to the camp so we can support it please? |
| 17th March 2007 Rat on the Road | Its a guy called Kop with the burned trousers - From: Festivals and families we dont let Kris play with fire. Will see how well green curry soup travels in the post then. Expect a soggy smelly envelope sometime soon! |
| 16th March 2007 Phill & Charese | Tom Ka Gai - From: Festivals and families Hey guys! The thai cooking looks amazing; rather than waiting for you to cook us it in the future, I'll keep an eye on some food offerings arriving in the post for the 'Phill's hunger' spirit. I'm so jealous that Kris had some shorts to burn. Any fire near my legs would have to penetrate jeans, long johns and my now leather-esque skin. Keep up the good work and stay cool! |

| 28th December 2006 liz penny | Happy Christmas - From: Merry Christmas from the Tropics We missed you on Boxing Day Kate. We have been wondering how you were getting on in Singapore. Frog does'nt sound as tasty as turkey for Christmas dinner! We have lots of frogs in the garden, living in the strawberry bed- sort of mingling with all the cats, so I definately could'nt eat them. Mind you, they can't be worse than octipus and I ate those in Sicily. |
| 22nd December 2006 Stu | Happy Christmas - From: On an island in the sun, we'll be playin' and havin' fun... Have a lovely "Christmas In The Tropics" (Registered Trademark) you two. Hope you don't miss the freezing fog and drizzle too much. Stu |

Chang mai's bizzarre bazaar sounded so funny and the elephants & friends foundation looks a great cause, the photos are brill. Compared to what you are having to tell us, theres no news that comes close really from here! Keep up the great stories, Carry on enjoying yourselves & stay safe. |
| 24th November 2006 Alan Tickhill | Hi - From: Chiang Mai's Bizarre Bazaar Hi Folks, Sure you don't know me Kate, but Kris can tell you who I am- that weird bloke from rentokil who used to engage Kris in discussions about convergence or other stuff whether he wanted to or not. Hope your adventures continue good, keep your travelogue going, and maybe we'll meet up again if you ever return to wet, cold and dreary England. Best wishes, Alan T. |
| 24th November 2006 Kate D | - From: By 'eck it's Gorgeous I'll suggest the honeymoon thing to Greg, though he's just seen the picture of Kris with a bug in his mouth, might have put him off - don't know! |
| 24th November 2006 Rat on the Road | To Kate D - From: By 'eck it's Gorgeous Yep, having a cool time, about time you were jealous after us being jealous of you living it up in Madrid. Hope the wedding plans are going well, thought of a honeymoon in Thailand? |
| 24th November 2006 Rat on the Road | No sliding Im afraid - From: Bridge over the river Kwai We missed the sliding down rocks into fishes pool, we were looking for monkeys! Ah well. Glad you are enjoying our tales. Hope you are good. |
| 24th November 2006 Rat on the Road | Its on its way - From: Say 'no no no' to strangers We have sent you a postcard, no worries, its on its way over the continents as we speak. | 22nd November 2006 Kate D | Hey guys! - From: By 'eck it's Gorgeous Just been catching up on your adventures and am generally very jeaous! So happy for you guys though, sounds like you're having a wicked time! Happy very very belated b'day too Kate - you know I'm crap :) |
| 22nd November 2006 nicola | - From: By 'eck it's Gorgeous I went to Thailand for my holiday and done most of the things you done. Its fab isnt it? now I am divorced and am helping my new boyfriend write about the bridge over the river kwai and put the facts into a presentation. Its bringing back memories of the fab but all so different holiday that I had in 2001. |

| 18th November 2006 Rat on the Road | You got Cholera in New York?? - From: Bridge over the river Kwai Or was it just a dicky tummy and are you being typically dramatic?? |
| 17th November 2006 Lisa | Memories - From: Bridge over the river Kwai Wow, reading this is bringing back so many memories of when we went to Thailand! You're doing the same things we did and saying the same things about it! Spooky! Great to read how you're doing (esp when I'm supposed to be working!), even though it's making me want to leave this miserable country. Did you slide down the rock into the pool with the bity fish at Erawan? Love Lisa xx |
| 16th November 2006 Stu | I don't eat invertebrates for fun you know.... - From: Bridge over the river Kwai I ate a fly the other day but that was by accident. Actually, I think I sort f inhaled it more than ate it. How come you get to goto Thailand and eat invertebrates without dying whereas I goto the civilized megopolis, New York City, and immediately get cholera? I guess I lack the tough northerner constitution. Is elephant camp like celebrity fat camp? |
| 15th November 2006 Helen | Hello! - From: Say 'no no no' to strangers Glad you guys are having a good time, the pictures are cool! This site is a great idea, it's nice to see what you're up to. Don't forget Pudsey is very exciting too - I've been walking the dog in the rain!!! Where's our postcard? (you managed one from Peterlee) Have a great time and take care, will post again soon Love - Helen |
| 13th November 2006 Liz & Chris | Can't believe you have actually gone! - From: Escape from the Rat Race Glad you got off at last. Hope the trip lives up to expectations. Look forward to hearing about your adventures. |
| 8th November 2006 Michael | a comment - From: Always look on the bright side of life Your delay must be most frustrating, the rats and I hope you get to Thailand soon. Here's a useful tip: when you get to Bangkok, if you are going to a temple and someone says its closed and that you should go on their boat/rickshaw/bicycle instead, say "yaaarr boIIocks, haway!" ...and do a merry dance. |
| 3rd November 2006 Val Monk | Where's Kate? - From: Escape from the Rat Race Common Kate! Where's ya pics? You ain't been in the wild long enough yet to be embarressed about having a pic taken! Seriously guys - I envy you! Wish I had the guts to up sticks and wander around the world myself! Instead, I like my security and go for lovely vacations instead! A different experience altogether I'm sure! I look forward to reading all about your journeys! take care both! x |
| 2nd November 2006 Helen | Check you out - From: Escape from the Rat Race Kris your beautiful white rentokil suit p*sses excellence! Why are there no pictures of Kate asleep in a sombrero hat? I'm hoping the bo-Jangles pictures make it - Helen xx |
| 2nd November 2006 dan and heather | Beaut outfit dude - From: Escape from the Rat Race All the best guys, you will have a great time. Just one question, will the blog not let kates picture on, or has she got really hairy since i last saw her? |
| 25th October 2006 Phil | Species name change imminent - From: Escape from the Rat Race Soon to be known as Mouldy Langur monkeys once Kris gets near 'em! |
| 23rd October 2006 Stu | Those monkeys look scary - From: Escape from the Rat Race I wouldn't wanna go anywhere near them. Look at those teeth! |
