| 18th September 2008 Alli | haha! - From: Foot Massages can be addicting Get used to the "ganbei-ing" and the teachers not paying attention at all the functions! Also, I seriously got a massage about once a week....make sure to try out the hairwashes. They're amazing! I can't remember what they're called, but you can get them at any nice salon. Ask someone who's been there awhile for the Mandarin word. |
| 10th September 2008 Joy | Love your blog! - From: Mei Shan Yuan Hey honey! I just read through several of your most recent blog entries! I didn't even know you had this blog until I inadvertently saw your comment to sommeone else on my facebook newsfeed! haha I love reading your entries because your adjustment phases are so apparent, and it reminds me of when I moved to Mexico. :) I consider what you're going through even more of an adventure though, considering you can't read signs or anything! I hope you'll keep posting because I love hearing your stories about your students and your day-to-day adventures, as you and your city become aquainted. I can visualize you wandering through busy Chinese streets with everything appearing new. I'm so excited for you - this is the experience of a lifetime! I'll try to get a phone card soon, so I can call you. In the meantime, send me your mailing address and the best way to mail things to you! Love you lots!! |

| 2nd September 2008 Rita | Your Teaching Skills :) - From: Celebrating with Hot Oil Massage and Karaoke. Ranjana, I am so glad you are having a good time so far in China. Coming from someone who has been in China and from someone whose daughter has had two chinese teachers at her language immersion school, the chinese teachers are quite strict. But discipline is ALWAYS a good thing and will fit the mold better. However, if you are right, and I have seen this too, chinese students seem to be extremely focused on their education, so I hope you have a great class that is eager to learn. You will have so much fun getting to know them. I am so jealous! :) Rita |

All the excitement, culture shock, and homesickness merge to just make you really disoriented the first few days. But you're going to have such a good time and I can tell you already are. Ah, hearing your stories makes me miss China! |
