Now that I have your attention let me start from the beginning. As I mentioned in the previous blog I wanted to take a bus to Asuncion which is the capital of Paraguay. As it goes with plans they are made to be changed and so I did. I met a polish guy at the bus terminal in Montevideo and he had the plan to get off in the first city in Paraguay to see some old Jesuit ruins. As I didn’t want to see another city I decided to go along with him. We got dropped off in Encarnacion at [View Full Entry]

Three weeks three countries... No I'm not just collecting Stamps in my passport I really heard its worth going to Uruguay. Colonia What is there to say about Colonia. It was founded 1680 by the Portuguese to piss of the Spanish which just founded Buenos Aires and to smuggle stuff into BA. It is named by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site; it is really cute and has lot of old building and cobble stone streets. Have a look at the pics and you know what I mean. Montevideo Before you ask no I didn’t mention that [View Full Entry]

Unfortunately the best times come to an end and I had to leave Easter Island but hey who cares if your next destination is Buenos Aires. Many who have been there hyped BA and I have to say there were completely correct. This place rocks! If you ever look for a place in South America that is not too different from back home but is still interesting then this is the place to be. Lets start from the beginning. I managed to get a shuttle bus to my hostel after arriving at 2am in the night! Unfortunately the hostel I booked [View Full Entry]

Whatever you want to call it, it is the small volcanic island in the middle of nowhere between Australia and South America. It is 3600 km west of Chile (of which it is part of) and 2075 km east of Pitcairn Island and this makes it the most isolated inhabited island in the world (you have to be famous for something). It is located at “27°09'S 109°27'W” (put that into Google earth and you shall see) and is just over 160 km2 big and has today a population of just about 3800 inhabitants. I arrived there on the 25th and found [View Full Entry]

It’s a long way home

Please let me know if you can see the pictures ok as they seem to be very dark on the monitor here but I suspect that this is more a problem with the monitor not the pictures. Santiago De Chile the first stop on my journey. The not so good new is that the city itself is not that exciting and doesn’t offer a lot for the tourist. Luckily I had only one day here while waiting for my flight to the Easter Island. After walking around town and trying the few Spanish sentences I still know on a few [View Full Entry]
