Well only two and a half weeks of actual classes left!!! Soooo excited to get out and about traveling NZ again...but I'll have more on that later!! Anyways, while I'm still anchored in Wellington I'm doing my best to take advantage of the little time I have left in the city...so here is yet another rundown of my crazy life... Politics Rule?!? For all you political junkies out there this would have been the week to be in NZ...it was their national elections and tensions were running strong all over, including the Victoria Uni campus!!! Although; I've been taking it easy (at least by my standards) I've had some interesting moments so here is the rundown to catch ya up with my life down under... Out and About in Welly Well I managed to push the South Island out of my head and get all my essays and projects in...and with time to spare...well maybe it was only a few [View Full Entry]

South Island V-cay: Day#13 Well this is it, the last entry from my road trip!! Now it is back to the North Island and school!!! The holiday went by way to fast… it was action packed...not allowing much sleep...and I spent maybe a little too much mulla...but it was all worth it!! The last day was a little bittersweet watching the sunrise over the Pacific because I knew it would be the last one for a long time. I’ll miss being able to walk out my front door and stroll along the beach!! But it had to end sometime, so we [View Full Entry]

South Island V-cay: Day #12 **I know that my blogs lately have been pretty full of info (I hope you haven't fallen asleep at the comp or anything), but I know this addition will pull ya all right back in... I'm gonna skim over most of the day...woke up at 6 to bad weather and found out whale watching was cancelled and was super bummed ... went to the only open cafe and had to listen to techno at 7:30 am, yuck....walked along the beach to kill time and found really big, beautiful turquoise paua shells...sun poked through clouds and weather [View Full Entry]

South Island V-Cay: Day #11 Hmmm…I could definitely get used to waking up to freshly baked bread and burning fire every morning.!!! After yesterdays soothing springs and relaxing night we were ready to get on with the last portion of our trip. Our first activity was hiking the woodland walk in the forests of Hanmer up to the Conicall Hill look out. At the top there was a perfect 360 degree lookout where you could see the town nesteled in the valley with the mountains surrounding it on all sides. We were told that usually all the peaks around us would [View Full Entry]

South Island V-Cay: Day #10 Guess what?? Up early again this morning...not too much of a change from the past week, but I can't seem to sleep in anymore anyways! With my early start I took advantage of our premiere location and walked along the beach while I waited for the other two to finish packing...which is strange cause usually I'm the last one...yah I know that probably doesn't surprise anyone!! We left our Beach Paradise and drove to the highly recommended Truman Track beach hike...where you can sometimes see penguins!!! No such luck though...but we did have a go [View Full Entry]

South Island V-Cay: Day #9 With another day full of driving we finally got our wish…Mr. Sun poked his little head out and we had wonderful sunny weather all day long...yeah!! We got up bright and early to start our travels. Our first stop was on the way out of Fox for a distant view of the now sunny glacier that we had climbed the day before, and then followed by a brisk little walk around Lake Matheson...which is the most photographed mirror lake in NZ...it was as smooth as glass and you could see everything in its reflection. Our next [View Full Entry]

South Island V-Cay: Day #8 Waking up that morning we were crossing our fingers hoping that when we peaked out the windows the sun would come pouring in...didn't work :( Again the sky is filled with clouds and there is a permanent mist filling the air. But we had decided since we drove all this way to climb the glacier that a little bit of rain wasn't gonna stop us...well at least it started out as a little bit...so we threw on our rain gear and headed to Alpine Adventures for our early morning hike up Fox Glacier. After suiting up [View Full Entry]

South Island V-Cay: Day #7 Woke up this morning more than ready to get on the rode and leave the Purple Cow hostel and my snoring rommies behind. Lauren, Shelly and I were really excited to start our road trip up the coast and got an early start. We had decided that we needed to take advantage of driving ourselves and that we should stop whenever we felt the need to get out and explore...so our first stop was about an hour and a half into the drive where we walked around the Blue Pools in Mt. Aspiring National park. Oh [View Full Entry]

Day #6: Skiing at Cordrona The day started out pretty interesting...it was our first day with "Sunny" our rental car. (We didn't even name the car, it is the actually name of the model!) We hope she is a sign for good weather :) Because I was the only one with experience of driving on the opposite side of the road I was the designated driver up to the ski fields. Piece of cake right?? Well if you ignore the fact that I have in the past had panic attacks while being a passenger during drives up mtns, then it would [View Full Entry]
