Hey everyone, How's it going? Life is going good here. Sorry I haven't written in so long, but I have been lazy and busy. Having a baby is a life changing experience. It is incredible to have a beautiful little baby that wants nothing more than to spend time with you. Sofia is pretty big. She is almost walking. She walks around holding on to things. I love her. Jader is just being a normal 5 year old kid. He is kind of being bad in school, but he has such a strong heart and he is so intelligent. Judith is busy taking care of the kids most of the time. I have been working a lot. I am still pretty poor, but happy. I would like to open my own language academy, so, if you ... read more
Hey everbody, How's it going? Well things are going well here. I spend my days working and being daddy. Being a dad is the greatest thing I have ever had the pleasure of doing. I love it! I change diapers, play with Sofia, and talk to her. I do everything but breast feed her. She is so pleasant to be around. I have never seen a baby smile and laugh more than Sofia. She is awesome. I also got promoted. I am now a fulltime trainer earning a salary. I get paid vacation time, and all the bonuses that Guatemalans get. I have many new tasks to do and I still teach. It's great! Finally, I can stop being so poor. I also bought a fridge, which has improved our lives immensely. I´m hoping to buy ... read more
Hey Everbody, Today was a weird day. I was riding on the bus in the back. There were four people in the back. Two of them started to rob the other guy but not me. I ran to the front of the bus and told the driver, but he did nothing. When the muggers came to the front of the bus and asked to get of the bus I attacked them both. I wasn't thinking, I just reacted. I pushed them to the door and then pushed them off the moving bus. Afterwards nobody said anything. To the people on the bus it was as if it never happened. When I got off the bus I said, "Sorry for the problem" and they said "It's OK". I couldn't believe I did that! Who the hell am ... read more
Dearest Everyone, Wow! February was a busy month! After being out of work, tired of paying for parking for my van and the fact that it was illegal was a good incentive to sell it. I put an ad online and sold my van in 5 days for about $800. That helped a lot. Then I got a really good job for a company called IBA. I teach English to business professionals. It pays better than village school and I only have to work half the hours. I get to spend a lot more time with my family. I have been showing Jader (He's only 4) how to skateboard. So I have been skating a lot lately. I can still do a lot of my old tricks (which weren't that many). Judith has been recovering from ... read more
Hey Everyone, It's a girl!!! Today we brought home Sofia Kristina Hammerly Lopez. She was born on the 15th of February at 1:20 PM. She weighed a whopping 6 pounds and 6 ounces. It was so amazing. I want to cry every time I look at her. I think she looks like my mom. If my mom was a shriveled tiny person. She was born a month and a half premature. When Judith was complaining of a lot of pain I thought it was nothing and then the next day there was a baby! I was pretty scared, but she looks pretty good. She has ten fingers and ten toes and a lot of hair. I went out to buy diapers and and socks. It was exciting. I put some pictures on here so check them ... read more
Hey everyone, How's it going? Well I quit my job today. I told them I no longer needed their help. I'm pretty upset but I think I'll be fine. I'm going out tomorrow to look for a new job. On the other hand things at home are good. Judith is really pregnant (7 Months) and Jader started Kindergarten. We are pretty happy. It sucks that I would lose my job 2 months before the baby is born but what can I do? I haven't written in awhile because I've been so busy working. It was so stressful! Although I'm worried about the future I'm happy that I don't work there anymore. My last school was like heaven in comparison. I miss all of you back home. Send me a message if you get the time. Love ... read more
Hey, You heard it right! Robert Hammerly is going to be a father! My girlfriend, Judith, is about four and a half months pregnant. I've had some time to comprehend everything so I'm not freaking out anymore. I'm really happy about it. I'm not sure if the baby will be a boy or a girl, but I'll let you know as soon as I do. Other than that I've been working really hard at my school and relaxing when I find the time. Wes has been here for the past two and a half weeks and hanging out with him is just like when we lived together, Fun! Too bad that I don't have much free time to travel with him. Actually he's leaving today for Honduras. I hope he has a safe trip. Anyway, If ... read more
Hey Everyone, Life here is good. So you heard it right. I'm a middle school English teacher. I teach 6th and 7th grades. It is really difficult, but I get my own classroom, bathroom, and computer. The hardest part is dealing with behavioral problems. I like teaching adults so much more. I think this might be my punishment for being such a bad student when I was younger. Anyway, at least the pay is better than my last school. Also, I moved into my new apartment in Zone 1 and I love it! My apartment is huge! I have 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a huge combined living room and dining room, 4 balconies, big kitchen, walls of windows, views of the volcanoes, and a roof-top terrace. It's great! Danny even has his own room. So, if ... read more
Hey everyone, How is it going? Jason and I just got back from Coban and Livingston. We had a good time. Coban was more boring than I imagined, but we took a tour to Semuc Champey which is some crazy natural pools. It was really relaxing. We swam and we climbed all around that area. It was great! We also bought some really good homemade chocolate cookies which were better than almost anything I have eaten in my life. Then we met this crazy gringo who scared the shit out of Jason and I. He was so crazy that we changed hotels just to get away from him. He told us he had killed people, was an ex-crack addict, and that he had played Russian roulette more than once. So, we escaped and left the next ... read more
Well, Jason and I went ot san pedro and stayed at a really cool place called Maritza we met this cool guy Luis. The lake was wonderful and Jason and I were chill, but then we decided to climb Volcan San Pedro. I didn't eat any food before and only drank 3 cups of coffee. Then we started to climb. After the first 100 meters I was beat, and I realized we only had 20oz of water between the 3 of us. I kept climbing but it was so difficult. I had to keep stopping I could barely breath or move. then our guide gave us some bad news. We weren't even half way up. We continued all of us struggling, stopping, and feeling like we were being tortured. FINALLY, after 3 hours we reached the ... read more
