Well, most of you know I'm back in the Motherland. Not sure how I feel about it. Happy to stand in the hot shower, to rinse my toothbrush in tap water and to eat Pho (Vietnamese Soup). Not happy to discover how many clothes I had, that I hate driving, and that I have to work. I mentioned that the closer I was to leaving the DR the busier things got. That's an understatement. We had so many amazing blessings the last month I was there. I'll try to list a few. First of all, La Torre. This is a rural [View Full Entry]

Wow! 40 days since my last blog. What can I say, as my time is winding down here, I've had more and more activity and less creative writing juices flowing through my brain. I've had plenty of inspiration but, no motivation. ( Seems to contradict doesn't it). Well, I could write like Star Wars, starting at the most recent events and going backwards or I could do normal chronological...hmmm. Even though Star Wars would be fun, let's do normal since it will probably be less confusing. Jan 8thish- We had our Spanish Circuit Overseers visit. It was a good week since [View Full Entry]

Well, here it can be quite¨tranquila¨one minute and quite interesting the next. For entertainment purposes I am going to combine events that have, and do actually happen on a daily basis. That way, from your comfy cozy computer chair you can get a taste. Let´s see, the day usually begins around 3am. Am I up preaching then? No. But apparently one of the 500 roosters that live in our neighborhood thinks I should be. Every moring, like clockwork. Cock a doodle DOO! Sometimes he sounds like he´s choking, probably needs some Halls. (Later, we will discuss where to get those). Thankfully, Quinn [View Full Entry]

So, on Sunday, November 16th 684 ¨Need Greater´s¨or self-supporting missionaries, gathered together for a special assembly in English. All the talks are catered to the needs of foreigners who are serving here. For one thing, the fact that we had nearly 700 in attendance was astonishing! In the past there would be 300 to 400. Jehovah God is certainly speeding things up. And what support He gives to us! One talk was especially precious. It went along the theme of ¨Don't Let Go!¨. The whole talk highlighted the story of Jacob and his grappling with the angel in order to recieve [View Full Entry]

PORTLAND ROCKS!

Okay, so of course I want to tell you more wonderful experiences about the ministry here, but not today. Today I must share some stories describing how "Loco " I can be sometimes. THE LOCKOUT/IN 8am: I'm in my pj's, have an armload of laundry and open the door into our washroom, a completely encaged area outside our front door, INSIDE our front gate. With hands full I kick the door closed behind me and as it closes I realize it is locked. NO!!! I'm now outside in my pj's, surrounded by bars up to the ceiling, and no key. Also, [View Full Entry]

Sticky Paper

Greetings! Things have been busy here. I´ll will try to catch up since it´s been some time since I last reported. (Sorry!) To start off, I will share how I found my new student Dasiri. My friend Kacy and I went out one morning in search of a deaf girl named Rosa. Another sister had found her and asked me to visit her. She had written down directions but since nothing here is named or numbered I had no idea where to start. I asked many people where ¨La Venecia¨was but everyone gave us a different answer pointing us in an [View Full Entry]

Okay! I finally was able to add pictures! They are kinda of random, here, there, and everywhere, sorry. Now I must share two encouraging experiences. First, last Friday I returned to Manabao to try to find my deaf study, Faustina. On the way up the mountain I came upon a group of school girls, all in there Khaki pants and baby blue polos. I offered them some tracts. Some refused, others happily accepted(it seemed). Further up the Mountain Lily (my preaching partner) recognized another girl and her group of classmates. We started talking with them. They walked with us for about [View Full Entry]

Okay, first off I must apologize for never updating this thing. Technology is just not for me. It´´s funny-everyday we have Siesta from 12-2 so you´´d think Quinn could find the time to write. The problem is that most of the Internet place are closed during Siesta. ERR! Well, let´´s see. Upon arriving Jarabacoa we promplty went to the Supermarket. There I was thrilled to find soy milk, that was like the one thing I wished I could have brought. YAY! On Wednesday I went to a place called Manabao. It´´s about 30 minutes from Jarabacoa but quite treacherous. At 8am [View Full Entry]
