Hi all! First up, just wanted to say sorry we haven´t sorted out the maps so that you know where we´re going. The maps on the web site are really difficult to work, but hopefully we may figure something out. Oruro is west of the country- I think that´s enough info :) What a journey!! So the bus to Oruro was due to leave at 11.30pm. We had a few rooms in Potosi to leave our stuff in. Me being me decided to sleep for half an hour, then we got ready and went to get a cab to the bus [View Full Entry]

We're back!! Let us try and fill you in quickly with what we've done in the past week: Today we arrived in Potosi, the world's highest town at 4070m! We weren't here long but just enough time to visit the famous silver mines on which the people here prospered for years. As you can imagine, the mines are dark and damp, and pretty claustrophobic if you stay too long. The miners work long hours though, earning about 3 pounds a day for what is hard and monotonous work. As part of the tour we bought them all a bag of presents, [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Bolivia! After 24 hours of travelling after leaving the Pantenal we made it to our first stop, Santa Cruz. This hasn't got its own entry because we were only there a day and half of it was spent recovering from the long journey. However, it was a pretty town and the afternoon was spent in an Aqua Park having loads of fun! We loved the swimming pool as I was a bit fed up of sharing my water with fish and Eric had loads of fun playing on the slides. They managed to coax me onto 2 of them [View Full Entry]

Rock on the site
Touching the multi-million-year-old footprint

So the reason we haven´t updated our web site recently is for the little 3 day trip we made to the Pantenal, which is half the size of France, 4-5 hours from any other civilisation like a highway, and just an absolutely massive mosquito infested national park, with a loadsa cool other animals. In fact we were pretty lucky with the mosquitos, I only got about 15 on the 5 hour journey out of the place and we discovered that either mosquitos really really hate Eric, or that he is a super quick mosquito killer - he had no, I repeat [View Full Entry]

Ok, so it's been a week since we left Bonito but this is the first chance we´ve had to write about it (see next entry). Spent a couple of beautiful hot days here, a bike ride to an artificial beach, which included volleyball courts in and out of the water, a "Flying Fox" hang-slide into the lake, a trampoline, and huge fish surrounding you as you wade through the shallow end! The next day was spent snorkelling, unfortunately we have no photos other than us in our wetsuits (very flattering!), but it was amazing. The waters were absolutely crystal clear, and [View Full Entry]

Hi all! Thanks for all your comments - we love seeing them, and well done Stu for winning yourself a postcard! It´ll be in the post soon but may take a couple of weeks :) Well, we´ve made it to the next major highlight of the tour - Iguassu Falls! Utterly, utterly amazing and breaktaking! Luckily for you we´re not boring you with all 110 photos of the 285 different waterfalls at all angles, but even so the photos we took don´t do them justice! We spent the first side on the Argentian side, where we basically took different walks above [View Full Entry]

Curitiba has so little to offer, we put in a photo of Sugar Loaf. You can see the beginnings of a Monica hairstyle that came up in Ihla Grande...it´s the humidity!!!!!
So what do you do when the entire island you´re staying on has a power cut?? 3 steps to island darkness: 1) Light rain 2) Torrential downpour 3) Lights out, air conditioning off and no TV! Apparently it happens quite often, so some of the restaurants have their own generators, the rest just take the night off! The next day, we scourd the town looking for lunch. Apparently the only food on the island that doesn´t need electricity is burgers! Fresh fruit juices and sandwiches are a no-go! The next 20 hours were spent travelling by boat, van, bus and taxi [View Full Entry]

Ihla Grande!
Ihla Grande!
Jealous??
Helloooo from Ilha Grande! We´re at a baking hot intenet cafe in 1 fan but I was desperate to come and update our website. The island is gorrrrgeous! It´s like a mythical island with brightly coloured houses, loads of forests and beautiful white sandy beaches. On Wednesday we just arrived on the island, went for dinner and then to a bar to bond with our tour group. They´re pretty cool, a good mix of English, Canadian, Danish and Swiss! I had my first Caprinha- a very strong sugary, rum drink - not too bad once you get over the sweetness! Yesterday [View Full Entry]

Our hotel
It was a hard day....
YUMMMYYYYY!!!

So before digging up Senor Ronaldinho´s back garden, we decided to take a look a round the city. Firstly, Copacabana beach - what a place! Along with Ipanema beach, there are no places like it, golden sands backed by palm trees and high rise buildings, peopled by beautiful Brazilians, and in view of Sugar Loaf mountain and Christ the Redeemer, who looms over the city like a guardian angel. The next day we went to the Maracanã stadium and watched Botafogo beat Americano 2-1 in what we discovered afterwards was some sort of semi-final. They played in 40 degree heat, and [View Full Entry]

For those of you who have been checking every day, we finally made it! After a 13-hour flight and a noisy group of Swedes 'on tour´ we are now in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Not done too much yet, spent a lazy day soaking the rays on Copacabana, and watching a semi-final at the world-famous Maracana stadium, where the frisking security process involves a pat on the chest, a pat on the bum, then a hefty whack into the crown jewels! There´s no need for that.... Today we set for to explore the local area, including [View Full Entry]
