Hola!! Again, getting the local bus to Potosi was as stressful as usual.... our seat numbers didnt even exist (the bus was too small) so thought we wouldnt even be able to get on the bus but luckily we got our seats changed and managed to get on the bus, only to find that it was impossible to open any windows and the bus was like a smelly sauna and it was so hot outside! :o( The only good bit about the bus was that i got to play a hero for 5 minutes.... while sat on the bus I saw [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone!! Had a nightmare overnight bus journey from La Paz to Uyuni - being the economical travellers that we are we decided to get the local bus instead of the tourist bus which would have cost more than double as much.... BIG mistake... mainly because there was no toilet on the bus, the bus sounded and looked like it was about to fall apart and the bus driver seemed to be in a big hurry.... it honestly sounded like Formula 1 which is NOT what you want to hear when your sat in a 1000 year old bus! Hehe! :o) [View Full Entry]

Hola again!! We got the bus to Copacabana, which is a small town nestled between 2 hills on the southern side of Lake Titicaca, on Sunday morning which took about 4 hours, including crossing the lake on bus by driving on to what can only be described as a big plank of wood with a motor on it! I was convinced we were going to fall in but we didnt! :o) We found a nice little hostel in Copacabana with a view of the lake, although not for much longer as they are building bigger hotels everywhere blocking out the poor [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone!! You´re in luck... because we have been in La Paz for so long now, I cant remember every detail of what we did everyday so Ill have to do a summary instead of a day to day report which means..... this entry might be shorter!!!! ;o) miracles do happen! :o) We have been in La Paz, Bolivia, now for a week and a half (including a 2 day trip to Lake Titicaca) and we really have loved it! La Paz, considering its a big city, is absolutely beautiful! Its set in a valley at 3660m, which meant it took [View Full Entry]

Lima! South America » Peru » Lima » Lima » Miraflores
Hey everyone!! Finally got a move on and am now in Peru! My first impression of Peru, after arriving in Piura after crossing the border from Ecuador, was not good! Everyone was trying to rip us off ... taxi drivers, money exchange... everyone! There was rubbish everywhere, the food was horrible, the men were sleazy and the bus we had to wait 10 hours for to Lima was really expensive! :o( But apparanlty the driving and roads in Peru are even more dangerous than everywhere else so we decided its better to be safe than sorry and went with the more [View Full Entry]

And of course enjoyed lots of scrumptious German food! :o) Lots of love xxxxxxxxx [View Full Entry]

Hola again!! We had another luxery bus ride with panoramic seats to Cusco, although this bus ride was a bit more tearful as one of the millions of films they crammed into a 22 hour bus ride was the September 11th film which was so sad and spent most of the rest of the bus ride bawling my eyes out... i seemed to be the only one.... typical me! :o) The next morning we were driving through the mountains which was very high and very bendy.... we both felt quite sick although after speaking to other people since we realised we [View Full Entry]

Hola!! OK.... here are some (there are millions!) of the photos from the Galapagos! :o) Spent a few days here in Vilcabamba in the lovliest hostel - its cheap, soooo beautiful with a swimming pool, amazing views, hammocks, loads of facilities... but best of all it is run by Germans which means.. German food! :o) We have been indulging ourselves in Kaesespaetzle and Currywurst!! Yummy! :o) Just been relaxing by the pool, learning Spanish, watching Harry Potter in Spanish and hanging out with lots of lovely English people we have met! :o) Tomorrow we are heading to Peru... its going to [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone!! Philip and I arrived in the Galapagos islands on Wednesday morning, met some Canadians, an Italian and an American guy in the bus and we all searched around for the cheapest hotel once we got to the Santa Cruz island (the biggest island). We eventually found a nice hotel for $10 which is a bargain for the Galapagos islands! I bumped into some Americans (who first gave me the idea of going to the Galapagos islands independently instead of doing a cruise) and an English girl who I had met in Quito but unfortunately whenever I bump into them [View Full Entry]

Hola again!! OK here goes the final blog entry and this really is going to be a short one because ive been sat in the internet cafe for an eternity now! :o( .... A group of us from the hostel got the bus to Cotopaxi (Patricia and I nearly bought some puppies on the way as there was a box of them, they were adorable and being sold for $5!!) and ended up going straight to the festival in town/mountains as it was their yearly festival and everyone from the hostal was already there! The festival was very funny mainly because [View Full Entry]
