Well, here I am in Borneo! When most people think of Borneo, they think of headhunters and impenetrable jungles. I'm currently in Kuching, and it is the most pleasant city I've been to in a long time. The city is packed with parks, cafes, friendly locals, and it has a beautiful waterfront. Leaving Sing, I found a 4 hour bus to Tioman Island, which I heard has quiet beaches. The bus ride was nerve racking because all drivers in Malaysia seem to enjoy passing others while there's oncoming traffic. This happens to the point where the oncoming traffic has to quick pull over onto the shoulder to avoid getting hit by our massive bus! Eventually we made it safely. If you enjoy beautiful beaches, coral reefs, rugged peaks, and rainforests, then you'd like Tioman Island. So, after a 22 hour flight, I'm in Singapore! I didn't get much sleep the night I arrived because I decided to sleep on the floor of the airport. I have been staying at the Prince of Wales Hostel/Pub in the Little India district. It is a nice place---clean and friendly. I've been hanging out with a Brazilian, an Aussie, and a Coloradan. The first day was a struggle; my brain just didn't seem to work.
