Also no calzone pizzas though did have the egg breakfast thing which was nice/bizarre. Also didn't make it to the open graves though sounds like a fun day out. | 11th July 2008 Poulu | Golf averse - From: North Island winter odyssey in a fascist car Greetings from Sydney, Uncle Crocky...Your mowing must have cost you a fortune if the men's final is anything to go by - at the risk of repeating myself and futher incurring the wrath of your 8 iron - what a match!! Surely you had to tear yourself away from the buttercups and daisies? We stayed up ALL night to watch it but, very disappointingly, fell asleep during the second rain break and so missed the final set - much cursing! You are right - golf has not even been mentioned in the blogs so far...disgraceful. But, to be honest, our time away hasn't been totally golf free. Last tuesday we borrowed (and watched!) the Caddyshack DVD from our motel owner though sadly our stamina couldn't take Caddyshack 2 (whose could?). We also spotted a very fine looking indoor 18 hole mini golf centre in Queenstown but sadly didn't play as the cable car and it's views of a non-plastic lake was more tempting. To be honest, they are not exactly golf mad in South America - though there is a rumour that the Peruvians have just discovered an ancient inca links course on a scale to rival Macchu Piccu - watch this space!! | 5th July 2008 Clive | Greetings - From: North Island winter odyssey in a fascist car Just a few words - because I hate writing when I'm not being paid - to say how much I'm enjoying the blog and the pix. It's rivetting stuff. Only slight criticism is that there's too much mention of tennis and nothing on golf. What are the courses like in Chile? How do the fairways of Argentina compare with those in New Zealand? And what about green fees? Despite the fact that you're obviously a bit new to this game, I'm enormously impressed and would urge you to consider a career in travel writing. I traditionally mow the lawn on Wimbledon finals' weekend so had better go now as it takes two or three hours to get the mowing going. Just to give you some idea of how prices have soared since you left, I shall probably get through about Ģ25 worth of petrol trimming our lawn which, in your language, is the size of two tennis courts or, more precisely, the 12th green on the Old Course at St Andrews. Iīm about to write another blog so wonīt bore you with too much detail, suffice it to say that we are still having a brilliant time, you should try it!! We are currently in Mendoza near the Andes, and the border with Chile, quaffing wine, munching steak and generally enjoying life. How are you guys? | 26th March 2008 Poulu | New York vs Machu Picchu - who wins? - From: Sand Boring and Nazca Lining Hello Bins So great to hear from you, sorry we didnīt reply earlier, issues with the blog (or rather our understanding of it). Hope you are well, your trip sounds very exciting, are you going with Janet? We are having an amazing time despite the mossies, midgies and any other hungry creatures having their fill on an extremely regular basis. Peru is beautiful and we arrived in Cusco today which is lovely. Photos now up on the blog which may give you a better indication of what we are experiencing - though we canīt quite put into words or pics the 12 hour bus rides, 6 hour high altitude climbs, constant packing and unpacking of extremely full ruck sacks and the sites, smells and feel of all the places weīve visited. It is amazing and i have to pinch myself that it is actually happening.. Have a brilliant trip and please keep in touch, missing you. Lots of love Louise and Nige xx |

Not quite in your league, I know, but yomping through the handbag department of Bergdorf Goodman is not without it's hazards: will the Amex card self-destruct? How many pairs of boots can you fit in a suitcase and pass off with a casual "What, these old things?" at Customs? So keep rubbing in the lemon juice and don't stray too far from a loo - that is, in countries where they have loos. Keep on having a blast and if you're running low on cash, call you father!
