Fellow travellers
Hi Annette, many thanks for your lovely comment. We have met many super fellow travellers and only today we were helped yet again by a kind neighbour. Have a wonderful Christmas. Jan and Graham xx

all connected
Hello Jan & Graham, What a fascinating story and set of con-incidences, a great read. I am constantly struck when travelling the generosity, curiosity, and hospitality of fellow travellers, those presently travelling, and those who have travelled in the past. How willing everyone is to share stories, adventures, and spend time. So heartening to realise through your story Graham how much we human beings can feel and be connected instead of feeling suspicious, afraid and different to others. Friends at heart rather than enemies. Again peace and good wishes for Christmas With love Annette

Help getting through NSW
Hi John and Sylvia, thanks for your comment. We have the technology so we do need to use it better! We've made it down to Benalla but it's still raining! Jan

Getting back to Melbourne
NSW is not an easy place to get through at the moment. If you haven't already discovered it, this website might make your journey easier to plan: http://livetraffic.rta.nsw.gov.au/#textview. It tracks all the flooded areas as well as other traffic problems. Have a great Christmas. I look forward to following your travels next year. John.

Fabulous scenery...
despite the rain! What a shame you've had so much rain but it hasn't dampened your spirits! Great to see everyone looking so well. Hopefully speak to you over the weekend x x

Hello Jan and Graham, What a lovely surprise to receive your Christmas card and your Father Christmas Photo...you make an excellent stand-in Graham. Not sure how we can send one to you, so will wish you a joyous, happy, and fun filled Christmas day with the family. No doubt David will be cooking lots of goodies and then there is Daphne's treats in the holiday period! What have you done to bring all this rain to us? With Scotland's current weather and now our rain it is all too much for even the most adventurous travelers. Hopefully the January Sunshine will dry everything and the beaches will be fun again. We too have been drying out, but nothing like your experiences. Only suffering the wet of the golf course! saturated bag, shoes and clubs, but nevertheless soldiered on until the greens were swamped and even the hole was filled so play had to be abandoned. Against the rules to putt into a waterlogged hole! Well, sorry this is brief, but will be thinking of you both on Christmas day and have a very happy New Year and then into 2011!!! xx Annette

Woodford Folk Festival
Hi John and Sylvia, many thanks for your comment. Other people have mentioned the Woodford Folk Festival and we would have loved to have gone but we'll be in Melbourne with relies - if we don't turn up we'll be very unpopular! At the moment we're trying to avoid the floods! Jan and Graham

Woodford Folk Festival
Hi. I followed D&S around Australia so I have been keeping an eye on your travels also. We ventured up into Queensland a couple of years ago. It gets better when you get away from the coast. If you are still in that area at Christmas, make sure you go to the Woodford Folk Festival. It's inland from Noosa about an hour's drive. It goes from Boxing Day till New Years Day. It is one of the biggest festivals of its type in the world. It is run by the Queensland Folk Federation. It has a website if you want a sneak peek. John

40 mile beach
Hi KJs - yes it is the beach that goes all the way to Rainbow Beach. We weren't brave enough to attempt the beach drive so good on you! We stayed at Rainbow Beach on our last trip 8 years ago. Best wishes, PPs

Maleny
Hi - great to have your comments. We are in the Maleny area now but sadly the rain is continuous and torrential so we are not doing as much as we hoped. Jan

Major Highway
Hi PP's - was just trying to work out if that beach was the one that takes you up to Rainbow beach - Teewah Beach I think. If so then that was our first beach drive, we drove on with some apprehension, it was just like the M25 - actually no it wasn't as the traffic was moving on the beach - there were cars and trailers overtaking us!! It was a busy road and yes as your blog points out - you really have to be aware of the tides, Teewah Beach can take an hour or so to drive up it, so you need to travel at the right time. We took that Ferry from Tewantin - great fun! Mrs KJ

I love following your blog (as I did the Wandering Wallabies) to follow your travels. How great to join the community concert. If you had continued your travels from Montville, you would have come to the nice little town of Maleny (not forgetting to visit Mary Kincross Park) and then there's a very pleasant drive to Kenilworth and back to the coast, I think at Gympie or maybe there's a turnoff a bit further south.

New bikes?!!
Ha ha - we (I) wish they were as when I put the left brake on it sticks to the wheel and then I get into trouble!! We keep leaving them unlocked but nobody wants them - seriously though they are useful and we love them really! Mum xxx

Well done on your 50th blog and what an amazing experience you had to write about. Really interesting to read all about the turtles, they're so gorgeous and how lucky were you to see the whole thing right before your eyes. Fantastic photos x x x

Shop til you drop!
Good on you Mum for all the shopping!! Glad there was something to entertain Dad too! Another great looking place that we somehow managed to miss - will have to get there next time!! Snow back here is fun, fun, fun! 3 days on the trot now I've been greated by kids and snowballs when I get home! I wouldn't mind but I can't get myself out of the car and armed before they start the barrage!!! Needless to say the new windows, radiator in the conservatory and woodburner are all being put to very good use!!! x x x
