Hello All!!! Russ has told (aloud) me to do this blog... I did have to threaten him with another day in Disney!!!! Well we met my Dad in Santa Monica as Russ said. He was jet lagged so we had an early one... We got up early next day and hit Santa Monica, Great place but I found it disturbing the amount of homeless, my Dad said they are allowed as they can have a good life on the beach, they fish off the pier, and weathers great, as long as they are not seen to be begging they are tolerated. The girls & Mickey

We left San Francisco early with bagels, cream cheese, strawberry jam and orange juice. We were going to LA to meet Chloe's father in Santa Monica. We hadn't told the kids that we were planning to meet him. The first part of the journey was on highway 101 and freeway down to route 1 and big sur. The first 60 miles is incredibly twisty over the side of cliffs and should not, in my opinion, be attempted by the faint hearted Don't get me wrong it is a very good experience but it it close to the cliffs edge and it [View Full Entry]

Route 1
Seals on the beach

We arrived in the early afternoon and found a motel straight away. We are starting to get quite good at getting rooms. I went in to the office and told the guy that we wanted to stay two night and didn't want to pay more than $100 a night. He complained like mad saying that he could charge $170 for a room on a friday. I just kept quiet and he eventually relented and said ok. It wasn't the best place to stay but for $200 we wern't going to complain. We unpacked and the walked down to the fishermans wharf. [View Full Entry]

alcatraz

I was knackered from the full day of buffoonery and Harley riding so our start was a little subdued. Before we start on the rest of our trip I would like to take this opportunity to say an enormous thank you to our wonderful hosts in Seattle. Who I must say bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and accommadate us. They did far more for us than we could ever expect, disrupting their everyday lives to support and encourage us on the first step of this intrepid journey. I don't think we could ever repay the kindness shown to [View Full Entry]

The original plan was to hire a harley and then I would ride wolf's bike and he the Hire bike. Well as with all well laid plans things change. When we arrived at the harley dealership there was an open day and things were starting to get busy. We waited for the guy doing the hire bikes by having a wander around looking at the bikes discussing options for wolfs bike with the sales guy's. You know how it is when you go to bike dealerships. We filled out the forms and were then escorted outside to check the bike for [View Full Entry]

Boeing have set up a homage to the history of flight and it's own history and how it has grown and changed through the years. They really have done the complete subject justice. There are two main halls, which contain 40 or so aircraft in each. Everything from a reproduction of the Wright brothers first aircraft to space shuttles. In the first hall there are two flight simulators that cost $8 a person but are state of the art. You get locked in and it spins around to the way that you control the aircraft. There is also a small plane [View Full Entry]

Us at the Fair
Us at the Fair
Enjoying the sunshine
We went on Saturday to the state fair called Puyallup Fair (pronounced pew all up). The fair is on from the 7th till the 23rd of September. When we left the house in the morning it was 58°F and when we arrived at the showground 45 mins later it was 68°F. It was a scorcher, not a cloud in the sky. The fair itself is a mixture of animal shows/displays, rodeo and and big fair with bungee jumping rollercoasters etc. We wanted to see the rodeo and a thing called Mutton Bustin'. Mutton Bustin is where kids under 6 and 60lbs [View Full Entry]

Snoqualmie Falls
Snoqualmie Falls
A view from the observation platform at the top.
Just been to see the Snoqualmie Falls and it is very picturesque. There is not a lot there but the atmosphere is very tranquil and well worth a visit. The water fall has a drop of 270 feet and lands in a 65 foot deep pool. There are two hydro electric plants there. The construction of the first was started in 1898 and the second added in 1910. Between the two stations they generate nearly 42,000 kw which is enough to power around 16,000 homes. I think that the idea of hydro electric power generation is absolutely brilliant but why o [View Full Entry]

Chloe and the girls taking a well earned rest.
I went with Wolf to a local tavern, about 10 miles away in Fall City, the other night. It was full of bikers and rednecks and the decor was a little higglede pigglede which all added to the ambience. It was actually quite a nice place with nice people. I got asked for ID when I ordered, you are supposed to carry it at all times, I was quite surprised as I havent been asked for ID since I was 17. We got a couple of pints of a locally brewed pale ale, which was quite nice, for $7.50. It's cheap [View Full Entry]

We had the plan of wearing out the girls so that they would sleep on the plane and then sleep when we got to Wolf & Sarahs in Seattle. We walked from the Hotel, on 42nd & 10th, across to fifth avenue then down fifth avenue to Central park. Stopping at the rockerfeller centre and Trump towers. The place is increadibly garish, but the waterfall inside the building is worth seeing. We sat in Central park and Chloe spoke to a japanese guy who was filming some large monarch butterflies. He had been there every day filming them for the last [View Full Entry]
