hola Jose, so glad to hear from you and glad Marianne made it to Honduras!! I spoke to Mom the day after she left...I will call Mom and get the real scoops from her about the host brother-fiance Johnny!!! We miss you so much and know how happy you will be to see your parents at the wedding in Columbia in February! I know you and Andrew had a limited phone conversation at Christmas. Joe, know we are thinking of you and vaya con Dios!! Love, Love, Love, Mrs. G.
MARIANNE AND YOU IN SPS!!! DON'T TAKE IT SO SERIOUSLY, CUERPO DE PASEO...!!!! CUERPO DE PAZ... TRANSLATED, SOUNDS LIKE CUERPO DE PASEO... AND YES, PROBABLY IT IS A JOKE!!!! BUT AS A MATTER OF FACT, WHAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DO THERE AS PEACE CORPS.... I HAVE NEVER REALLY UNDERSTOOD OR KNOWN WHAT IS WHAT YOU DO IN THESE COUNTRIES, WE SEE YOU, NOW AND THEN IN GUATEMALA, BUT NEVER KNOW WHAT IS THE FINALITY OF YOUR TRAINNING OR YOUR STAY, PROBABLY YOU CAN ENLIGHT US WITH SOME DESCRIPTION OF YOUR WORK.
HOW EXTRAORDINARY THAT YOU COULD GET TOGETHER WITH MARIANNE COMING INTO SAN PEDRO SULA, SEEING YOUR SISTER IN GUATEMALA FOR CRISTINA'S WEDDING WAS A HIGHLIGHT THAT I WILL ALWAYS TREASURE. NEVER KNOWING THAT SHE WILL SOON BE COMING BACK TO CENTRAL AMERICA,, I DIDN'T GET TO SEE HER SNIFFLING HERE IN GUATEMALA, PROBABLY THIS WEATHER IS BETTER FOR HER, SO PLEASE TELL HER TO COME BACK AGAIN, AS WELL AS YOU.
ANY PLANS FOR THE FUTURE? I WILL TRY TO CONTACT YOUR GRANDPARENTS, OR MOTHER, NOW THAT WE ARE STAYING FOR A WEEK IN JACKSONVILLE. WE WILL BE BACK IN GUATEMALA, NEXT WEEKEND, TODAY IS MY MOTHER'S BIRTHDAY, I HEARD EVERYBODY CELEBRATED HER, AND WE CALLED HER, AND SHE SOUNDED SO HAPPY ARRIVING AT 77 HEALTHY AND HAPPY!!
BIG HUG, AND BEST WISHES FOR THIS YEAR 2010 IN YOUR LIFE,
LOVE, MARGUERITE
Hola Joseph: I've asking your mom regularly about when your blog will be on line again. I am delighted that you've found Internet access and I have this site bookmarked. Your life sounds quite adventuresome and you exude a wonderful positive attitude and engaging writing style. I am looking forward to hearing in more detail about your experience in the Peace Corps when we meet in Cartagena for Liam and Maria's wedding. (Rumor has it uncles Kenny and David are coming in matching spiderman costumes. That should be a treat for the bride and groom) Stay well and know that you are in our thoughts each day. Love , Mary
Hello! Joe! It's great to hear you're doing well!
I was thinking about you the other day and I don't really know how to get in touch with you? haha But since you have slow internet I can e-mail you? Or does your cell phone still work so you can text?
Anyway, I hope you're having a grand time! Eat lots of soup so you don't get sick!!!
Miss you bud.
Michelle.
Hola Joe Joe: How are you? Happy new year 2010. Very good to hear from you. It sounds like you are
having a great time in Honduras. Those "bolos"are funny, but be carefull not to have an encounter
with one of them in a bad mood. If you get a few days vacation come an visit relatives in
Guatemala. Eat more hot soup and write more. Take care.
Best Regards
God bless Joe, you continue to amaze me with your dedication and devotion to this country and your own service to others!!! We all miss you and pray you are aok.....hope to catch up with your parents asap!!!!!Oceans of love, Mrs. G.
Love reading your blog Dear Joseph,
Reading your blog is great fun and very interesting. You have a wonderful style of including lots of info and a couple of good chuckles. All seems to be going pretty well and I hope that's still the case. Your language proficiency alone will always be a terrific asset, and your unique experiences will help to continue your formation as a person. But you are already a pretty neat human being, so always remember to stay true to your core values and core. While I could go on and ON - I will stop there! :->
All is well here and summer continues to fly by. The weather is muggy, the Red Sox are struggling, but life on the Cape is simply lovely! People kindly ask for Joseph updates and (more kindly) listen to my chatter. We miss you madly but are very proud of all your hard work. I'll look forward to your next blog. Have fun, stay healthy and know I hold you in my heart. Much love, Mom xxxxx ooooo
Rock on, Joseph! Sounds like things are continuing to go well, Joseph! Keep on keepin' on over there - I'm pretty sure that flexibility and persistence are two of the most critical attributes to a successful PC experience. Sounds like you've got both on your side right now. :) Way to go! Thinking of you here in sunny Seattle!
Greetings! Joe,
Thanks for keeping me on your mail list. It is really exciting to hear what you've been up to. I admire what you've been doing and your commitment to stay with it. We are trying hard to build up our immersion program - would love to pick your brain sometime. If you're home, it would be great to get you in front of our students to share your experiences. Going to the IFT this year at Ft. Benning - it will be the last one. Hope you're well.

I want to see that tree Dearest Joseph, I always like to read your whereabouts, and I do follow you, and through your accounts of stories, I relate to the times Rodrigo my son was unsure what was next while starting with the Air Force. Everything is going to be OK with you, not only have you been raised strong, but also all of your family members are wishing you well, and you wil do just fine, you will see....
As of now, try if possible to put November 21st apart...if you can.....Cristina is getting married here in Guatemala. Let us know your chances of being able to attend, hopefully, you will
Love, and always keep me posted, I enjoy reading your adventures.

Congrats! Joe, congrats on a beautifully-written blog and what sounds like an amazing trip to date. I look forward to hearing more about your adventures-I now have your blog bookmarked so I can check it out more often. Hope you get a great placement that you are excited about! Sincerely, Katie Burke (Martha's friend from high school who still thinks of you as being in seventh grade...sorry about that)
Hi Joe! I'm so happy to read that you're doing well - I'm disappointed we didn't see you before you left but am relieved you arrived safely and are enjoying the experience. Looking forward to your next update, enjoy!!
Good Luck!!! Dear Joseph,
Your update sounds interesting and exciting! Good luck with all your new efforts and adventures and continue to "blog on!" I loved each of your shout outs, but please remember Uncle John Karuch who is recovering from recent serious cardiac surgery and give him a mention too. Life on the Cape is good and we are enjoying a Tierney/Loop vacation holiday. They are wonderful as always - we are much blessed to have such dear, loving and caring family and friends - both near and far (Zone 10 :-> ) They are all our treasure and our joy!!! And you are too! :-) I miss you like crazy and keep you in my heart every minute. Please be safe, stay healthy and enjoy this terrific experience. My thanks to the lovely family who has kindly taken you in and I look forward to your next message.
Much love, Mom XXXXX OOOOO
Hola Joseph, I am so thrilled that your devoted and loving mother (she made me say that) let me know about your blog. You are an amazing young man who is making a real difference in the world by sharing your gifts and compassion. I look forward to following your journey.
Thank God Gracias de Dios (???) you've arrived safely! Not sure if I said that correctly Joe...my high school Spanish is more than a little rusty!!) I need to go to Roche Bros to practice! So glad you are getting settled and maybe it's good you're moving around a bit and seeing, learning and training in different areas. Hard to believe people do not understand about burning trash and basic health. I am back home and going to work for 3 days and then returning to Cape. Summer is flying by Joe! Janet and Chris are coming this weekend with 4 friends....pray for sun! We miss you so much! We miss your smiling face and your place at the dinner table awaits! Love and prayers. Mrs. G.
hola glad to see that you found an internet cafe. I think your projects sound great, and it sounds like you'll have a great training period. All things here are good - some sun on Cape Cod!! Red Sox seem to be on an uptick - 4 big games with the Yankees later this week. Talk to you later
Nice work, Joseph! Joseph teaching about trash - awesome! :) Let me know if you ever want me to point you to some fun online resources to teach about composting and other things - it just might translate perfectly.
Keep the updates coming - we're all excited to hear about what you're up to!
Much love!
Godspeed Buenos Dias Jose! i am sure you are anxious to get to Honduras and get settled and get started! I am glad the State Dept waited though for your safety, etc. We miss you and i am planning to call Mom to see if you're there now. Andrew went to Nantucket with Curt today...doesn't that seem like a world away?? I love you, Mrs. G.
