Plenty to tell since Monday! We found an actual shopping centre place here in Chang Mai (not as good as the Blancher mind) with cinema and all....did some shopping in the NIght Market as well. That night we were supposed to go to bed early because we had to be up at 6.30 the following morning to go to Chang Rai but a few ppl were heading out for drinks so we decided to join them! We started in this bar called Rasta bar where there was loads of hippies hanging around and Bob Marley music playing in the background, it [View Full Entry]

Morning all, Yesterday was the day of the big Trek here in Chang Mai. Turned out it was just myself and Ruth going from our place, so the mini van picked us up first. Then it was off to pick up the other trekkers. 2 Indian ladies staying at the Imperial Hotel, a Canadian couple staying at the Plaza Hotel, a Japanese couple & American couple staying at the Sheraton Hotel. They had an average age of 50, and their hotels made our humble guest house look like a shanty town.......we were defo the poor relations on the trip! Underterred we [View Full Entry]

All is well here in sunny Chang Mai. We spent yesterday and today just chilling by the pool in the guesthouse (called Nice Place 2 by the way). Last night was great. We set off with about 12 other bums from ou guesthouse to go and see Thai Boxing. It was on from 8pm until about midnight......ending up drinking a substantial amount of Chang Beer at the arena and having a super night. Afterwards a crowd of us heading on a Tuk Tuk to a nightclub called 'Bubble'.....very impressive I must say.....knocking back the White Russians so I was !! Going [View Full Entry]

All aboard! Sawasdee krap, We left Bangkok last night at 10pm local time on the overnight train to Chang Mai and arrived here at noon. The train is legendary, you lot didn't build it up enuf! The bunks are great, and I had great fun swinging out of the ladder up to my bunk and other crazy stuff which I can't mention in a family email of this nature.......!! Anyway, I slept soundly for 7/8 hours so it's all good! Checked into a lovely little 'gaff' here, aircon and all for 8 euro a night for the room. The place has [View Full Entry]

Howdy all......! Things are sweet in Bangkok, starting to get used to the heat and the pace of life here. Still staying in the same place, should be leaving on Wednesday though to head north to Chang Mai. Our guest house took our passports off us last night and they will bring them to the Laos & Vietnamese embassies for us to get our Visas (for a price of course!!). The accomodation is game ball at 10 euro a night for the room. We have aircon & our own shower room which is good. Matty boy from work will be arriving [View Full Entry]

Hong Kong is dead, long live Hong Kong.....!! HK was great, would definatly recommend it as a holiday destination! Shopping was good, except we had no money or space!! All you punks who slated Bangkok..........u were SOOOOO wrong! Arrived this evening, and are staying on this little road just away from Khao San Road. It's great with all these cheapo bars that serve food. I am loving it so far. DON'T STAY ON KHAO SAN ROAD ! Accomodation = Sawasdee Thrunkrep Inn on Soi Rambutri. 500 Baht per night, cheap but adequate. Had only planned to stay 2 nights but 4/5 [View Full Entry]

Howdy all, Life is tough at here in the East..........the Cantonese is coming along nicely (3 words counts as fluent right????) Have done a fair bit of stuff, despite battling jet lag. Went on a night cruise this evening around Hong Kong. There is a channel that seperates Hong Kong Island from Kowloon Peninsula (where we are staying)......get your maps out to check it out. Also the tram upto 'The Peak' is a must see. Fantastic view over the city and surrounding areas. The angle the tram travels at is a little worrying, but it seems to make it to the [View Full Entry]

Myself and Ruth board a London bound plane tomorrow on the start of our World Tour. Fairwell to you Molly Malone and the drunks of Dublin, I'll miss you all. However, the word is that there are other countries (not as green as Ireland mind you) so I must persue new experiences. More news to follow. [View Full Entry]
