Welcome to our blog.
We started blogging in 2008 on our first trip to Thailand. We loved it so much we decided we just had to go back to Asia for more, so in March 2010 we set off on a 9 month trip which took us to Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Australia.
Unfortunately due to lack of funds we had to come home, but we will still be blogging on various adventures that we will have in the future so watch this space!
La Dolce Vita “The Good Life” Saturday 8th October to Saturday 15th October Feeling a bit sad about leaving, but looking forward to our next destination, we left Malcesine and headed back to Verona by taxi to take the train to Lucca in Tuscany. 3 changes and 4 hours later we arrived feeling rather exhausted and in need of....surprise surprise.... a nice meal. We were staying just outside of Lucca in a renovated barn of an old Tuscan Villa (built in the 1700’s). The villa itself was huge, with acres and acres of land on which there was a swimming pool, vegetable garden (where we picked our own veg) and row after row of olive trees. At first we were a bit worried about how we would get in to Lucca as there didn’t seem to

I had originally written separate blogs for each place that we visited, but being so busy when we were out there getting ready for the wedding and sightseeing we really didn’t have a lot of time to do much else. Without further ado I shall begin.... Thursday 29th September to Friday 30th September We arrived in Italy on the 29th September to Verona where we spent 2 nights in the Best Western Hotel de Capuleti. Verona is lovely, small and very old with lots of shop windows to browse in, gelato shops galore and amazingly great pizza. It is also home to an ancient Roman Forum, Juliet’s Balcony and a hanging whale bone which was meant to fall on the first persons head to walk

It’s been a while since our last blog when we were in Australia – we are now back in blustery old England and getting on with life as normal. Compared to Asia it is a bit dull to say the least and we are already planning our next escapade(s)! Our first journey will be taking us to the continent and on to Italian soil to sample the fine wine, delicious olives and to become Mr and Mrs after 7 years of being together. As many of you may remember, Phil proposed to Victoria on a very hot and humid night back in Singapore last August and luckily she said yes. Since then it has all been a bit of a whirlwind in

So I have just uploaded some photos to this blog and will be writing a full entry soon once the sun has stopped inviting me to bathe underneath it Kuala Lumpur - Ipoh - Tanah Rata (Cameron Highlands) - Perhentian Kecil - Kota Bharu - Kuala Lumpur - Kuching (Malaysian Borneo) - Kota Kinabalu (Malaysian Borneo) - Kuching (Malaysian Borneo) - Kuala Lumpur - Melaka - Bangkok - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) - Dalat - Danang - Hoi An - Hue - Danang - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) - Bangkok - Phnom Penh - Pursat - Battambang - Siem Reap - Phnom Penh - Bangkok

I'd found a reasonably priced place online a few days before we arrived called Serai Inn which was a stones throw away from China Town and Little India. The room was comfy and basic with shared bathroom/toilet and we made the most of the air con room and hot shower - oh AND we had a sink....a big improvement on washing our teeth with a hose and spitting in to the hole in the floor in Suhaila's 'Palace' (it's funny how words just get thrown around) and a proper shower not just freezing water coming out of a hose on the wall. I bet you lot at

We spent a night in Bangkok doing what we do best when we are there, shopping! We had to work out how we were going to get to the southern province of Krabi to meet our friends Faye and James who were spending two weeks there on holiday. We had experienced an overnight train in Thailand so thought this time we would see what an overnight coach was like, and compare the two. We can both safely say that we have never ever been on such an awful journey in all our lives. We were picked up from our hotel on Khao San Road on

The temples span over an area as large as Manhattan in the US and were built over a period of 600 years, during this time being occupied by various Kings and had a population larger than London. We bought a 3 day pass and hired a tuk tuk driver to take us round, starting with the smaller temples on the first day and then leading up to the main attraction that is Angkor Wat, Bayon and Angkor Thom. I'm not going to write alot about the temples, as they are so vast and there would be pages and pages I could write so I'm just going to let the photos do the talking. The most amazing temple (in

The town was extremely small and there wasn’t really alot we wanted to do, or could do here. So we decided to make the most of our one night and as soon as we had found a Guest House and checked in, we were off in another Tuk Tuk a few kilometres out of town to the bamboo train (or as the locals call it ‘Norry’). The owner of the hotel came with us to the tracks and agreed a price for a one hour journey through the country side. We were told that we could go for four hours, but thought in the 40 degree heat it might be a bit too

After some more shopping in the shopper’s paradise that is Khao San Road and MBK Mall, we went for a meal and then back to our hotel ready for another early start the next day. We took the free shuttle bus from Plai Garden Hotel (near the airport) and said a teary goodbye to them both, it was so nice to have them here with us and sharing our experiences with them but sadly they had to go back to the ‘real’ world and leave us to it. We were planning on taking the Sky Train to the city centre but

Unfortunately we havent got enough time to make it up to Hanoi or Halong Bay as Mum and Peter have to be back in Bangkok on the 5th to fly back home and we are flying to Cambodia to meet our friend Emma who is coming over for a 2 week holiday. We wanted to make it as far north as we possibly could, so decided to take a bus to Hue (pronounced Hway). It was a pretty uneventful journey apart from having to stop half way because the coach had a flat tyre, we bought some custard cakes which came in a huge box. They were so horrible that even a poor little boy who was begging tried one and spat it out and gave the other
