Phenomenological Us - JUSTINA & PETER

JUSTINA & PETER "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain

Hello ya'll and welcome to our little blog in the crazy world wide web. We are an ordinary couple studying in the UK, who absolutely adore travelling whenever we have some spare time. Our official travels have started a while ago, back in 2005 and since then we have been inseparable. What we mainly love about visiting foreign places are all the exciting things that differ from our country and culture. We love trying new dishes, observing people, learning history and languages of places we visit, but mostly spending time together and appreciating the beauty that surrounds us wherever we are. We hope you will enjoy our blog and although photos we take are probably nothing in comparison to professional photographers' pics, we do hope they show what we see and experience !

"Stripped of your ordinary surroundings, your friends, your daily routines, your refrigerator full of food, your closet full of clothes - with all this taken away, you are forced into direct experience. Such direct experience inevitably makes you aware of who it is that is having the experience. That's not always comfortable, but it is always invigorating." Michael Crichton

Here is where we've been, what we've seen and enjoyed so much! Still more to come :]

Enjoy!
x

and btw. WE KNOW THAT SOME OF THESE PHOTOS ARE OF A TERRIBLE QUALITY, BUT BASICALLY WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED IS WHILE UPDATING THE BLOG I RESIZED ALL THE PICS TO "SMALL" WHICH IS NORMALLY OK AS IT'S 640 x 480 BUT HAVING JUST LOOKED AT THEM, THEY SEEM REALLY BAD! ARGH, WE PROMISE WE WILL REPLACE THEM WITH BETTER QUALITY ONES ASAP!

We only managed to get into the main grounds as general admission was reasonably cheap + all the tickets for Serena vs. Elena & Venus vs. Safina were sold out argh. A really nice experience, watched mainly Serena vs. Elena , which def was a pleasure to follow, a really good match! Williams nearly lost! [View Full Entry]

It was a great experience to have finally seen the famous ring of massive stones! Ok, the fact that loads of tourists were around really did ruin the whole mystical feel about it and also the fact that we couldn't actually get closer to the stones, but only stare at them from the distance. Nevertheless, there is something interesting about them and the thing that strikes the most is probably that no-one can pretty much come to a conlusion in terms of 'why' and 'how'. Various ideas have been put forward, but it seems hard to be able to provide a [View Full Entry]

Ok so it was nearly Wales and OMG could we see that on the way to Bath! Sheep, sheep and sheep again Well, what can we say really, Bath was stunning! Gorgeous architecture and of course the Roman Baths absolutely amazing too. The water is very hot and you can even try it! To be honest, it doesn't taste too lovely, but still it's the mineral water from the real Roman Baths! [View Full Entry]

Definitely one of the most moving visits I have ever done. The first camp Auschwitz I doesn't seem as bad as the Birkenau one. Maybe because of the lack of the barracks and I guess it generally looks like a prison. It mainly consists of numerous buildings in which various prisoners were kept. It was the very first camp, so no specific idea was put forward, other than just locking up people who basically were "dangerous" for the Nazis. The Birkeanu camp however is definitely the worse one, out of the two. There are literally no signs of humanity whatsoever. All [View Full Entry]

Yes that's right - Cannes! Again, visiting Cannes was included in the original F1 trip to Monte Carlo. The Film Festival in Cannes was taking place at the same time as F1, so it was a perfect opportunity to visit it, even though obviously admission was literally impossible. Peter did see some celebrities however and some of the bigger ones such as Pitt and Jolie on the million of screens that were placed outside the venue. Again, as you can imagine, Cannes was absolutely beautiful with lots of expensive cars and yachts, stunning views, beautiful women, VIPs and celebrities... All pictures [View Full Entry]

Peter visiting Monte Carlo to watch F1 2009 of course. Mainly supporting Kubica and Hamilton. An absolutely beautiful place, with some gorgeous views. It is definitely on of the richest places he's visited. Expensive cars and yachts pretty much everywhere around you. Well it is the home of F1 and lots of VIPs pop in every now and then... It's absolutely enormous! The top floor houses a museum and the ground floor is exactly the same as it used to be when Darwin still lived there with his family! It has got an amazing feel to it and ta... [more]
Darwin's house and gardens. Here he spent the most part of his life and here is also where he wrote his The Origin of Species and later on On The Descent of Man. A wonderful place, including a museum with lots of books and original reports from the Beagle voyage. The interior design of the ground floor is entirely genuine, it feels amazing to be there, as you can imagine how he worked. Although it is forbidden to take pictures indoors which is a shame... Here's a link to the English Heritage site of Darwin's house. Here you can find more [View Full Entry]

Gozo  Europe » Malta » Gozo
Gozo is one of the three islands that make up Malta as in: "Malta" - although Malta is mainly the central and the biggest one - slightly confusing isn't it . We went to Gozo on the ferry, which was very cheap and takes only about 30 mins - which really isn't a long journey. Gozo itself was beautiful! Very similar to the Maltese character, with lots of tiny cute markets and again loads of religious symbols pretty much everywhere. Some of the main attractions we visited included the Gozo Castle and of course the very famous Dwejra window - oh [View Full Entry]

Ok, you know when sometimes people come back from their amazing holidays in the Caribbean Islands or Fuerteventura and keep telling you about the PARADISE that they visited! Well, no need to be jealous anymore if you've been to Comino . Yes yes yes! The wonderful name "The Blue Lagoon" gives it all away (I'm sure you've all tried the famous drink!). It is such a pretty place, there are tiny boats that take you there from Malta (not too cheap though) and they generally run every 1hr and only operate until 7 pm if remember correctly, so you need to [View Full Entry]
