My Dearest Britain, After being here nearly a month, I am beginning to finally settle in to life together. Too bad I have to leave you in 7 short days. You've suststained me on a sumptuous diet of the following things, almost exclusively, since late August: Lamb donar, gingersnaps, coffee, tea, beer (ale, more precisely), coca-cola (a taste of the homeland), and sushi from Marks & Spencer. Sadly, I don't think I'm rich enough to be in this relationship with you...I have averaged a steady clip of #150 (pounds...i guess the keyboard lies when it offers the pound symbol as an option) per week, not including lodging, and am beginning to feel the pain of it. I just can't be your sugar-daddy any longer. I am looking forward to the change of prices that South Korea ... read more

I touched down in St. Louis on Thursday at 6:45pm local time. The sky was clear, the sun was bright, and the afternoon glow warmed everything it touched. By the time we got settled in for our connection flight, my sister and I noticed the darkening sky out the north bay of windows directly across from our gate. In fact, the sky wasn't merely darkening.. It was dark. "Due to high winds, Lambert Airport asks that you keep small children away from the windows." OK...we were getting concerned. The lights were flickering, the vents were spewing out large balls of dust and lint all over the floor, the northern sky was black, and the southern sky was that yellow-pink color of impending weather. The silhouettes of the light posts rocked and swayed against the dark-rose ... read more

Have you ever wanted to spend a long evening crammed inside a dirty Northstar? I sure did, and that dream came true last weekend in Sequim, WA. After having dinner with our hosts, the H-s', we took our leave of the house and repaired to the quarters we were to share that evening. The Northstar's berths included one fold out table, suitable for single accomodation, and one upper bunk, capable of sleeping two. After Mass was routed by a double Rock, Paper, Scisors loss, it was determined that I would enjoy the single bed, whilst Mass shared the upper bunk with Ruby. Mass did not find this acceptable. Without going into the ugly details, let's just say that Mass took his loss poorly and boycotted the Northstar all together. So much for Mass. Anyway, shortly after ... read more

Last December my friend Kris and I made our long-term goal of driving to Winnemucca, NV a reality. Why Winnemucca, you ask? Because we liked the name of this quaint desert outpost, that's why. Much more than simply a Basque outpost in northern Nevada, Winnemucca is a fantastic destination for a road trip through the forgotten west. As Nevada's most resplendant northern hub, Winnemucca boasts several features appealing to those on the road. There are numerous casinos, the best of which is easily the Red Lion where one can take in a game of FTN. These casinos are generally small, but games can be found for the one seriously intent on playing. Many hotels offering cheap accomodations compete fiercely for your business on Winnemucca's main strip. In addition to these, the keen and off-beat seeker will ... read more

As my first post to this blog, and as a means to test the mapping functions, I have elected to begin with the trip I took last summer. The first leg took me From Seattle, WA to Washington, DC and Norfolk, VA where I met up with my friend B. From there I flew to London, UK and enjoyed a short trip to Brighton with my friend Ryan and his fiance, Sarah. My grandmother's sister guided me along a nice walk up the Thames. We started the morning in Trafalgar Square and ended the day in Greenwich from which we took a boat back toward where we began. Following this brief stay in London, I flew to Moscow, Russia at the invitation of my friend Yuri and his family. My time in Russia was spent mainly ... read more
