We took a nap for a few hours since we were up so early to get back to the lodge. Irsquove never been a morning person but waking at 4am to start hiking in the dark for an hour or two is pushing the limits of my civility unless itrsquos a race and therefore competitive. Poor Penny has to deal with whatever fragile mask of humanity I can put on until my mind catches up with my body and manages http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Cusco/Machu-Picchu/blog-450323.html El Camino Inca Inca Trail Wow what can we say We had the most amazing hike. It had everything mountains altitude ruins and a bit of junglehellipas well as lotrsquos of interesting people. Our first morning we were all picked up in a bus and taken to the start of the trailhellipI really wasnrsquot functioning so well as it was about 530am when we were collected. Sorry it has taken so long to update our trip to South America. We've been non stop since we got here but finally after many trials and tribulations we're in Peru. We spent a very quick week in Vancouver which seemed to pass in no time. Then before we knew it it was time to head to the airport. I met up with Peter a fellow http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Lima/blog-447956.html Toronto to Vancouver Toronto to VancouverSo after many months of waiting finally Pennyrsquos permanent residency visa showed up. That meant that we could now head to Vancouver. We said goodbye to my parents and jumped in Beast for the highway to catch up with some college friends of mine in Northern Ontario on the way out of Ontario. We stopped in to visit Julie and her husband Dave and kids. It was great to http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/blog-442451.html Labrador The ferry ride from St Barbe Newfoundland to Blanc Sablon Labrador took almost 2 hours. Whilst on the ferry ride Scott met a surgeon who travels around the country filling in for other doctors on leave. He told us the day before he met someone who had done the same ferry crossing and saw 60 whales we were so excited thinking we might see a few whales. It was not to happen I saw just a glimpse http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Newfoundland-Labrador/Goose-Bay/blog-437474.html Newfoundland Well we got off the ferry and we were in Newfoundland. Wersquod heard from so many people that it was beautiful and we have to admit we were looking forward to be surrounded by that amusing Newfie accent. So with great anticipation we proceeded to get lost driving through the town center of Port aux Basque looking for the tourist information. After giving up and deciding to head northhellip http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Newfoundland-Labrador/blog-437450.html Nova Scotia Nova Scotia TextSo the ferry ride was relatively uneventful we arrived in Nova Scotia and drove north for 3 hours towards Cape Breton Island. The drive was beautiful a place called Wacocomagh which was very close to The Cabot Trail. We managed to get a campsite on the top of the highest point in the campsite and we got a seniors discounthellipwersquore not complaining and we also got a http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Nova-Scotia/Cape-Breton/blog-437352.html PEI We went into a tourist information centre in Nova Scotia just across the border of New Brunswick where one of the ladyrsquos told us we should go to PEI Prince Edward Island via The Confederation Bridge as it is an experience you wouldnrsquot want to miss. So we jumped in the vehicle and headed towards the 12 mile long bridge. The bridge is actually the largest bridge in the world that run http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/Prince-Edward-Island/blog-437055.html New Brunswick So as Penny had hurt her left calf whilst at Nelson Karens place she could not go travelling to Sth America India Africa. It was almost 3 weeks were she could not walk so therefore there was no way that she could carry her backpack go trekking around the world. So as an alternative we bought a Ford Explorer 4WD and decided to drive to the east coast of Canada then out to the west where we w http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/New-Brunswick/Fundy-National-Park/blog-437047.html No Pics Just a quick update..ok a few pics Well Pen and I left Montreal on a Wednesday travelled to just outside New Brunswick and camped near River du Loup in Quebec then drove to Fundi national park where we spent a day checking out the coast and another looking at the Bay of Fundi. Then it was over to PEI for a night where we camped near a beach for free and then went to charlottetown before heading over to Nova Scotia. This meant we got in about 2 hours early whoo hoo We went to customs where Pen had to fill out a bunch of paperwork then got stamped as an immigranthellipwhoo hoo We declare http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/blog-429250.html Round and Round the UK we go Ok so in the past the Brits that were behaving badly were sent to prison in Australia. I was really considering looking for one of those hot chicken bags in the back of the seathellip.bleugh But I kept my composure and Scott giggled he loves that feeling of extreme turbulence. I donrsquot mind bumpy plane rides but when you feel like you drop 20 metres in 1 secondhellip.that is not for me.So we landed in Chicago and it was bucketing d http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Illinois/Chicago/blog-418524.html Wowee Kauai We headed to the airport with Jay and caught our flights with no problems.
