Today I finally saw Machu Pichu. The old ruins were beautiful and actually really well perserved. The site itself was alot bigger than I thought it was going to be. The day started at 5am and rather than walk the 8km uphill to the site, I took the bus. Near the entrance gate I ran into a guy that I did the Colca Canyon tour with so I tagged along with him and his buddies to explore the ruins. Looking back on it, I probably should´ve forked over the 20 soles for a guide around the ruins because there was alot of information that I think I missed. I hiked around them for most of the day, including the larger mountain to the south and a little ways up the Inca Trail to the sun gate ... read more

What an eventful last few days! I sighned myself up for a two day trek through the Colca Canyon of condors and I´m so happy that I did. Saturday I left my hostal early in the AM and had a long bus ride through the mountains to a little village called Chivay (or something like that). We then went on a 3km hike to the natural hot springs that were in the area. The ´hot´ springs weren´t actually that hot so I opted not to go in. Instead of waiting around for everyone to finish their soak, myself and another girl walked back to the village. Unfortunatly the sky opend up in a downpour and we got drenched. After drying out for an hour or two we went for dinner and were surprised with live entertainment. ... read more

As always uploading pics is kinda a pain in the but, especially when you can't read the directions because they're all in spanish. I'll work it out. I arrived in Arequipa this morning and I made the mistake of riding coach on the bus. It was the worst, most uncomfortable bus ride I've even taken. However the ten hour ride only cost me fifty soles so I really don't have mych to compain about. I spent most of the day sleeping, making up for last night. Arequipa is nestled in the mountains against the El Misti volcano. I'm actually not sure if the volcano is still active or not, but from what I can see it isn't. The city itself is very old with many monasteries and churches that I'm sure I'll visit in the days ... read more

Happy Birthday me! Yesterday I arrived in Nazca with the english couple that I´ve been travelling with. The bus ride was pretty good and I was happy because it only cost me 7 soles (about $2 u.s.). The couple decided they wanted to head to Arequipa right away but I opted to stay in Nazca for a few nights so here I am. I sure am glad I made that decision too! Yesterday I also flew over the Nazca lines in a tiny little plane and it was great! Besides the crazy flight, it was pretty cool to see the anicient lines spread all over the desert. Some people specualte that the Nazca people made the triangles to point toward water sources in desperate times of drought. Other people think the lines and figures were for ... read more

What a beautiful Oasis Huacachina is turning out to be! Originally I intended only a few nights but time is slipping by so quickly I think I´m gonna kick around until my birthday. Yesterday was another crazy hot day in teh desert. I did what I do best and lounged around by the pool for most of the day. When The sun was finally starting to go down I went on a dune buggy tour with the couple from England that I´m still travelling with. The driver was fearless and would climb the steepest dunes and then make tight corners right near the top before he came screeching back down again. At other times he´d rev up the buggy and fly over the dunes like nothing, causing everyone to loose their stomac´s. It was an awesom ... read more
