The big city baby

Arriving in Santiago was incredible. The city is massive and absolutly beautiful but I cant believe how modern it is. The cars are fancy buildings tall and the people are dressed and act way more classy than anything ive seen elsewhere on my trip. I finally parted ways with Molly and Luke and took a cab into Barrio Brasil a nearby neighbourhood and checked myself into a hostal.I walked down

Hello again beach

After seventeen hours on a bus sitting next to an ugly south american guy that snored with his mouth open and was definitly breathing on me I was soooo happy to arrive in La Serena. Another beach town that is stunningly beautiful we spendt the day walking around the streets and sampling Dulce de Leche a caramel sauce thing thats made in cakes and pasteries. I felt I should fulfill my church q

The Big Dry Desert

Arriving in San Pedro was not exactly exciting. After seven hours on the bus to get to Calama then waiting two hours in the bus station before catching another two hour bus ride to San Pedro I was not exactly impressed when we first arrived. Dry desert was pretty much the only things I could see and the streets in San Pedro were all dust and dirt. The Plasa des armas was a little better as i

Beaches and ocean

SO I finally made it to Chile yesterday morning. The bus ride from La Paz was killer but im so happy to be here. Yesterday Molly and I spendt most of the day on the beach relaxing and takin in some sun. Getting burnt was inevitable and the backs of my legs resemble ripe tomatoes. Somehow that was the only spot I managed to miss. Iquique is beautiful old style buildings and centered around i

Crazy huge city

Today we arrive in La Paz capital city of Bolivia after a four hour bus ride from Copacabana. The city is a huge sprawling mass and fills a whole valley. The roads are all haphazardly paced and sometimes its an annoyance to locate our hostal as they all look the same. Today wasnt too busy. Molly and I walked around for most of the day did some shopping and checked out a church. Luke o

Today we grabbed a boat over to the nearby island called Isla del Sol from Copacabana. This is where the Inca believed the sun was created and we saw the rock that is was supposdly created from. It wasnt super spectacular but the 8km hike over the island made up for itIt took us about 3 hours over the rolling hills from the north end to the south. It was a hot day and I loaded on the sunsc

Fianally arrived in Copacabana Bolivia today. I wasnt really planning on seeing Bolivia so crossing the border was a treat. Molly and I ran into two Australians that were heading into Bolivia so were travelling with them.Instead of staying on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca we opted to travel south cross into Bolivia and stay in Copacabana for a few nights. It was a great desicion as m

So the title pretty much says it all. Not sure if youve heard of death road before but it is literally death road. We got up fairly early in the am and took the bus for about an hour into the hills and we were greated with a spectacular day. The tour set me back 40u.s. but was well worth it. The company supplied bikes helmats pants coat lunch transportation and firstaid. The begin

Today me and my friend Molly went to Pisac on a local bus to see the market and the carnaval celebrations that we going on. It was an hour bus ride to get their and cost us 2 soles. The bus was packed so we were pretty lucky to get seats. The drive through the sacred valley was just beautiful. When we got to Pisac the sight was amazing The main square was packed with people of all ages...mos

So I gotta say that today has been one of the best days so far. Woke up around eight and had to be ready for river rafting at nine. I was a little hung over but pushed aside the headache and had one hell of a dayIt was a tour with about 30 other people. Most of them were german or dutch so I spent most of the day in either spanish or another respective language. This didnt phrase me as ever

The lost Inca city

Today I finally saw Machu Pichu. The old ruins were beautiful and actually really well perserved. The site itself was alot bigger than I thought it was going to be. The day started at 5am and rather than walk the 8km uphill to the site I took the bus. Near the entrance gate I ran into a guy that I did the Colca Canyon tour with so I tagged along with him and his buddies to explore the ruins.

Saturday I left my hostal early in the AM and had a long bus ride through the mountains to a little village called Chivay or something like that. We then went on a 3km hike to the natural hot springs that were in the area. The hot springs werent actua

As always uploading pics is kinda a pain in the but especially when you can't read the directions because they're all in spanish. I'll work it out.I arrived in Arequipa this morning and I made the mistake of riding coach on the bus. It was the worst most uncomfortable bus ride I've even taken. However the ten hour ride only cost me fifty soles so I really don't have mych to compain about. I s
