After an eventful drive from Interlaken, Switzerland to Triesenberg, Liechtenstein whereby we were caught in an avalanche and had to reclaulate our journey that last 5 hours.... we arrived in Liechtenstein weary but excited to be in a country thats probably smaller than most english towns. But we soon learnt that what Liechtenstein lacked in size, it certainly made up in spirit and atmosphere. If i'm truly honest, i fell in love with the place... we stayed in Triesenberg, On our 2nd day in Liechtenstein, we discovered a personal highlight of the trip... The most eastern part of the country hugging the Tyrol mountains on the Austrian border, a town called Malbun. My first venture into the Swiss Alps was certainly something i'll never forget... my first experience of Interlaken and the alpine regions is that its not the best place to experience driving a left hand drive car on the right hand side of the road for the first time! We started off driving from Zurich airport, past Lake Lucerne onto Interlaken and Grindelwald... and the scenery just became more and more spectacular as we drove further south... and lets face it, theres nothing like windy, ascending/descending mountain pass roads to really teach a British newbie to drive safely on the 'wrong side of the road' :-) Our journey should have been 1.5 hours, but the views and photo opportunities were so spectacular that we regularly made photo stops to take photos of the mountains and even ... read more
