Checking in and hoping your on the mend
Hi, Paul - What an ordeal! You really put Jeff's appendectomy story to shame (have Courts tell you about how I told him to take a laxative before I knew it was appendicitis, as if that would do any good! Good thing I went to law school instead of med school!) We hope you're all better now! Not totally surprised you two are extending your stay but glad you'll be coming home for a long visit. Looking forward to that! I'm putting together a small care package for you two, and I'll let you know when it's been sent. Give our love to Courtney. We miss you both. We really look forward to blog updates, so please keep them coming!! ~Kari and family

So glad you made it!
What a relief to see that you've pulled through yet another Ethiopian hospital adventure! Mark and I are so glad that you were there and that everything turned out OK. We're already looking forward to your visit. We have marked all of February and March. Let us know when we can start adding in some other plans...OK?!?! Love you both! - Amanda

4 years later....
Since your 1st departure for Costa Rica in 2004 (I hope my dates are right!) I have been keeping up with you through this blog and still am awed by every new entry. You cease to amaze me. This world needs more people like you and Courtney. Stay safe and good thoughts are with you two. P.S. are there any cool plants/wildflowers where you are? my botanical mind is curious.

Keep it up Paul!
Paul, Sounds like you are getting into some fun stuff man. I caught up with your dad at Friendship Manor in Roanoke and he gave me your site. Keep up the good work and stay away from the squirts! Grace and Peace, Jonathan

Wow
What an experience! I'm sure it's changed your outlook on the world. I have lived in surprisingly similar conditions in China. I swear I've seen that toilet here.

wow
Sounds like quite an adventure so far. That really sucks that they conficated the bug spray. Did they at least let Court keep her lifetime supply of Chapstick? ha I'm sure mail there is rare, if at all, but we would be happy to ship you some more bug spray if it will make it out there. Just let us know where.

you're amazing!
Hi Paul, I'm so amazed and impressed with all of the good things you do. You're a true humanitarian and an incredably gifted writer. I always look forward to reading your blogs and sharing them with my family and friends. Thank you so much for keeping me on your blog list. I do remember our OM days very well. While our team never won, you're a winner in my book! Glad to meet Courtney. If she ever wants to know what you were like in elementary school, tell her to give me a call.

If only there were more people like you in the world! I wish you the best of luck with your project! If you ever get discouraged(which i hope you don't), read the book "Three cups of Tea" it might help to inspire, anything is possible. Good Luck!

Funny and scary........
Hey, that was some experience at the airport. I like the way you wrote about it, had to laugh while at the same time feel anxious over how it ended. Overall, this is a good read. Enjoyed the humour too.
