The Zoo is one of the major tourist attractions in Sydney. The best way to get there is by ferry from Circular Quay. Once you arrive at the ferry landing on Mosma, take the tram up to the Zoo. You get a bird's eye view of the park and of Sydney Harbor. I must say I was a bit disappointed with the Zoo. It is undergoing a major restoration/construction and many of the exhibits and animals were not available for viewing. We were lucky enough to meet a travel writer who was staying at our hotel and she gave us free [View Full Entry]

Located behind the Opera house the Botanic Gardens & Domain was a fantastic treat!! With great views of the Opera House and a jogging path this park is a wonderful location to just explore and get lost in. The gardens are jammed packed with rare and exotic plants and flowers. Some of the more rarer plants can be found behind metal fences to keep individuals from stealing them. The "Wollemi Pine" is one of the most protected and endangered of the trees found here in the garden. In 1994 one Wollemi Pine was discovered in the Blue Mountain range after being [View Full Entry]

Sydney has always been on my list of places to visit, so when I was invited to visit Sydney for a quick 5 days I hesitated for a moment, not because I didn't want to go, but who in their right mind flys more than 19 hours from NYC for only a quick 5 day trip. I wanted to make my initial trip a 3 week jaunt, but hey, this opporunity was just too good to pass up. I will definitely return to Sydney (and other parts of Australia very soon). I loved Sydney and felt right at home. I've done [View Full Entry]

For 8 months I had planned a fabulous vacation for my daughter’s first trip out of the U.S. This trip would have taken us to Japan, Bangkok and Ko Samui. Because of the events of December 26, 2004, where a tsunami took the lives of so many in Southeast Asia, I decided I would postpone this trip for now. I had a few months to decide where we would go, and my heart was set on taking my daughter and my mother to someplace unforgettable, someplace with plenty of history and culture. I wanted my daughter’s first trip out of the [View Full Entry]

I've been to London three times now, each time spending only a few nights at a time. Just a quick 7 hour flight from NYC, London is a great weekend getaway with the major airlines offering fantastic prices throughout the year. My first trip to London was in the summer of 2002 with my then boyfriend who was an ex-pat Brit living in Saudi Arabia. My second trip to London was another short 2 night stay on route to Turkey with my mother and daugher. It was a cold and rainy few days, but we managed to have a great time. [View Full Entry]
