The Zoo is one of the major tourist attractions in Sydney. The best way to get there is by ferry from Circular Quay. Once you arrive at the ferry landing on Mosma, take the tram up to the Zoo. You get a bird's eye view of the park and of Sydney Harbor. I must say I was a bit disappointed with the Zoo. It is undergoing a major restoration/construction and many of the exhibits and animals were not available for viewing. We were lucky enough to meet a travel writer who was staying at our hotel and she gave us free passes to visit the Zoo. The free passes made up for any dissappointment as the entrance to the Zoo is a bit on the pricey side. We did enjoy what little animals there were to ... read more

Located behind the Opera house the Botanic Gardens & Domain was a fantastic treat!! With great views of the Opera House and a jogging path this park is a wonderful location to just explore and get lost in. The gardens are jammed packed with rare and exotic plants and flowers. Some of the more rarer plants can be found behind metal fences to keep individuals from stealing them. The "Wollemi Pine" is one of the most protected and endangered of the trees found here in the garden. In 1994 one Wollemi Pine was discovered in the Blue Mountain range after being thought extint. You can find a few of the Wollemi Pines planted in the garden. The first tree was grown from a seedling. One of the highlighs to the garden for me were the "flying ... read more

Sydney has always been on my list of places to visit, so when I was invited to visit Sydney for a quick 5 days I hesitated for a moment, not because I didn't want to go, but who in their right mind flys more than 19 hours from NYC for only a quick 5 day trip. I wanted to make my initial trip a 3 week jaunt, but hey, this opporunity was just too good to pass up. I will definitely return to Sydney (and other parts of Australia very soon). I loved Sydney and felt right at home. I've done a lot of traveling and in Sydney I met the nicest and friendliest people. The weather is fantastic along with the beautiful sites. During our short stay we visited the Opera House, The Rocks & ... read more

For 8 months I had planned a fabulous vacation for my daughter’s first trip out of the U.S. This trip would have taken us to Japan, Bangkok and Ko Samui. Because of the events of December 26, 2004, where a tsunami took the lives of so many in Southeast Asia, I decided I would postpone this trip for now. I had a few months to decide where we would go, and my heart was set on taking my daughter and my mother to someplace unforgettable, someplace with plenty of history and culture. I wanted my daughter’s first trip out of the states to be a memorable oneTurkey had been on my list of places to visit for over 6 years now, and finally I had the opportunity to visit. So, I choose Turkey. My daughter fell ... read more

I've been to London three times now, each time spending only a few nights at a time. Just a quick 7 hour flight from NYC, London is a great weekend getaway with the major airlines offering fantastic prices throughout the year. My first trip to London was in the summer of 2002 with my then boyfriend who was an ex-pat Brit living in Saudi Arabia. My second trip to London was another short 2 night stay on route to Turkey with my mother and daugher. It was a cold and rainy few days, but we managed to have a great time. Walking around the city, shopping or visiting a museum is what I love about this city...I can do it all or none!! Visiting some of London's famous momuments, museums and gardens is a great way ... read more
