We are on the road again and we are off to Clew Bay which is includes the Spanish Armada Viewpoint. This was named after two ships from the defeated Spanish Armada fleet sank here in storms in 1588 - you cannot see any ship wrecks, well let’s be honest they would have been long gone by now due to the time frame. However once again the vista (yes getting good with words) was stunning. I am going to have to think of other words to describe the vistas (see did it again, ha ha) as all I am using is stunning or amazing but what else can you say when they are. We then move on to Achill Island and over the Achill Sound with the bridge crossing it onto Keel Strand where we eye up ... read more

Well you have had a couple of days off of my ramblings but to be honest after arriving at Aughris Head which is in County Sligo and on the beach we found a beach bar that had facilities for motorhomes. We thought we would only stay there one night but do you know what we got up on Sunday Morning and thought do we really want to hit the road again or should we stay with a view to the beach with all the facilities such as food and a pint of Guinness - why would you move on! So decision made and two days at the beach bar over looking the beach. We did go for a coastal walk though which was really nice apart from at one stage I was once again hanging off ... read more

We start off quite early after having breakfast and first thing I do is take us down the wrong road - well you could say it was a road but if honest it was more like a cycle track. When it got really narrow I said I don’t think this can be a main road and you guessed it this was not a main road at all. However if honest it hugged the coastline more than the main road did and we did not meet any vehicles coming the other way, Yes and not even cycles. I wanted to see the waterfall and caves at Ardara but hey ho this is getting regular could I find them not at all. By the time we realised we had missed the turning to the caves we are following ... read more

So we have decided that we have to move on today and go to Pollet Sea Grand Arch which is spectacular but if totally honest not a patch on Durdle Door in Dorset. However there is a great tale about this as you have to go over private land and the land owners was so fed up of tourists walking all over their lands that they decided to put up signs of no trespassing which to the Irish Tourist Board was oh no this is a national treasure. So after years of fighting, the Irish Tourist Board decided to do the best thing and pay the private landowners some money (quite a lot I have heard) so they now have a fenced path that tourists go down to see the Arch. In someways good for the ... read more

Well last night we decided let’s not move on from this site for another night as it is so nice and clean and we can have showers and also can charge everything up as we will be off grid or wild camping on Thursday evening probably. Woke up to another glorious day and could hear a cuckoo bird which was lovely to be honest. Went to Fanad Head lighthouse today and decided that we would take the tour of the lighthouse which was a great decision especially as it only cost 10 euros each. I did not know that lighthouses now do not have a lighthouse man (okay let’s be PC lighthouse person or even keeper) any more, they are totally run by technology. Fanad Lighthouse is an iconic working lighthouse at the mouth of Louth ... read more

So we set off mid morning after filling up with water as we had to ditch it yesterday to get the MH round the hairpin bend - if you have not read yesterday’s blog you need to as at one stage I did not think we would be going any further. Our intent was to spend the night at Fanad Head, well we did not quite make that but we were okay as we found a nice campsite in Port Salon - a few miles from Fanad Head and so I can have a shower in the morning. We start off stopping at Glenevin Waterfall which was a nice break then went to Dunaff Head which was once again amazing - the views are fantastic although the roads? well some of them would be tight in ... read more

So the day started really well. We got up early as I wanted to go to Giants Causeway before the crowds descended. Well a tip for you here, if you do not want to go to the Visitor Centre you can go down to see the Giants Causeway free apart from parking which is free for National Trust members but doesn’t open until 9am - a bit late to miss the crowds. But you can park in one of the private car parks for £5 and then walk to the visitor centre and go through the arch and down to the Giants Causeway. We are members of the National Trust so we could park and go to the visitor centre free. Anyway as the visitor centre car park does not open until 9am this was definitely ... read more

So we get up nice and early have a shower then brekkie and then a nice leisurely walk around the lake which was really peaceful and really lovely if you ever get to Fivemiletown and in a camper/motorhome/tent it is a fabulous place to stay. Well the night before Princess Paula decides that after looking for places to stay using numerous apps that Healy’s Bar which has a beer garden that you can park in overnight looks amazing and all the reviews also show how brilliant it is and it seems like it is in a great location in Ballycastle - so that the plan Healy’s Bar it is. Now if you have read my blogs previously I really love a map and hate using Sat Navs until the last minute - I find I learn ... read more

Up early from the campsite in Wales to get the ferry over to Dublin and then onto Fivemiletown which is in the county of Tyrone. We had booked the lounge on the ferry as last time we took a ferry we struggled to get seats. If we had not booked the lounge this time I really do not think it would have been a problem if totally honest as it was relatively empty. When we drove the motorhome onto the ferry behind a big coach the gentleman started to tie the wheels down on our motorhome and the coach - this to me did not bode well as I thought they must think this is going to be a choppy ride for the next couple of hours. Thank goodness this was not the case and it ... read more

Well we have started our journey of the Wild Atlantic Way by staying in Wales in a lovely campsite very near Holyhead where tomorrow we will be crossing to Dublin. The campsite is really nice but you will never guess it though when we booked in the lady who was so lovely told me where the pitch was and also that there is a vending machine which has milk from their Jersey cows and eggs. Well I thought a vending machine really? We got to the pitch and she came down and introduced herself and told us once again about the vending machine. Well really sorry but I thought this lady is probably not well as she introduced herself to me a couple of minutes ago and did not recognise me - so did I think ... read more
