Napier this weekend which is the art deco centre of newzealand - went to marine land which i think i went too in ?America many moons ago when i was a nipper and Ray, Andy and Suze were still ...older. As you see got a few good pics - the highlight being the dolphins and the lowlight being the the sealions breath. i suppose my advice fact of the day would probably be never to french kiss a sealion - not that ive done it recently but the zookeeper did and im guessing he isnt a rep for listerine? Also drove [View Full Entry]

sealion with spouse

Welcome to the daily update of mcdonalds farm, Today greets the new arrival of two female piglets, no definate names as yet, maybe cagney and lacey, but suggestions welcome. They have grunts like barry white, are pink with mud splatted on them and are digging holes to Antartica in the pig pen. Itsa (goat, keep up), who has previously been resided in the pig pen was scared witless by the sight of these two lovies and made several bids for freedom, one successful. So there's me running after a flipping goat in my wellies expecting it to come back to the [View Full Entry]

flooded peep shaddock

To those who have been keeping up with our "adventures", I have been slow in reporting on the ladies night at the local pub on friday night. Okay, let's just say even I was shocked and appaulled by the antics of NZ strippers, they would get sued in England for things they did. I can't even describe the women, my mother being top of the list. My reserved mum got dragged up on stage and had to spank a strippers arse!!! I will have to apologise to everyone that I was laughing so hard I did not get a decent photo [View Full Entry]

Hi guys Dave here, Wellington this weekend to meet up with Lisa (and her broken ankle) and Roger (recent Wellingtonians). Had a great meal at little india on the Saturday night then the zoo on Sunday. Have to admit that the zoo was not the best zoo ive been too although i can now confidently cross feeding a giraffe off my top 150 pointless things to do if i have spare time list, which is a relief. Think the highlight for me was the twilight room - a big room with no lights and nothing around but a few trees - [View Full Entry]

And so the floods came

Hi there, Well guess Dave wasn't too embarrassed by the photo and I have been allowed to return to the site. This week has been rather slow, no work so we have been keeping ourselfs entertained with goat herding, rather boring when you only have one. Itsa (the baby goat, new arrival to the circus my parents have) hasn't been well over the last week and has been rather subdued, but all will be glad to know she has now recovered and bouncing round like a goat possessed. Will have to get this on camera because there is no way I [View Full Entry]

boogie on down

Worked in the kitchens and waiting last night at Takapau town hall for a Lions function with 92 people. It was a 70's fancy dress theme with a buffet and plenty of booze. When the do finished there was an after dinner party which included drinking most of the empties / 70's Stage dancing and flower arranging. A bizzare but strangley cool experience having the town hall all to ourselves playing dancing queen to the max volume while sipping bottles of bubbly! (Many thanks to Rae (Cook) for the opportunity and accommodation). ps hope all had great time in Belgium at [View Full Entry]

Good day to you all, Gem here Well it is an end of an era, the last of this years pruning has come and gone. We have finally finished giving those vines their haircuts for this year, but the jobs not over yet, more jobs next week. Well after the last couple of days I'm feeling rather homesick. Congratulations to London on getting the Olympics. Also heard about the senseless bombing attacks in the capital, absolutely ridiculous. We were delayed in finding out. Although I am so glad Elinor, my good friend who lives in London, is okay and coping well [View Full Entry]

Dave's 'how not to prune

Hi all, Well pruning is easing off now as we're on the Sauvingnon Blanc Vines which tend to be younger and easier to cut than the Pinot Noirs, - also much higher up which is kinder on the old back! Played in a badminton tournament (or yankee as they call them over here?) in Waipukarau and managed to win a glue gun - an obvious prize , which will come in handy for gluing my 7 pound racket (thats the weight and the price) back together. Went to Wimbledon, the nearest town/village/house to where we are, only to find that the [View Full Entry]

 Common Road Blocks #1
 Common Road Blocks #2

hi pommes, Greetings from down under. Joint entry today seen as though we have done so much pruning we only have part functioning brains and need two of us to work out how to speak. yep pruning is monotonous and bloody knackering, the injury list is as follows, sliced fingers x2(finger and thumb), several thousand bruises, 7 blisters, tendonitis hands, aching arms and shoulders, sore heel from wellies( right), scratches from flicking vines, Whip marks again from vines (honest), sunburn, lower back pain, BUT IT IS ALL GOOD FUN!!!!!!!! Actually quite enjoying it once you get past the p [View Full Entry]
