Hey everyone! Elinor here doing a guest blog with a gun to my head... Apologies that most of you probably only know me as the nutter who jumped from a plane but Gemma and Dave have turned into rednecks since leaving Wellington so you don't want to mess with them. It all started in Wanganui, on our way up the Wild West Coast of North Island. The towns have got quieter and there has been a bit more contact with the yocals. Wanganui was... well what can I say? Ummm very pretty. We didn't do a massive amount there as the [View Full Entry]

Hi guys, Dave here, Well weve been in Wellington for the past 2 days in one of the best hostels yet, 5 star no less, which means you get some sleep. Ventured out to Lone star for a huge meal which filled us up so much we couldnt muster a sentance between us for a good half hour! (see pics - will eventually put on) Also got to learn more about the southern night sky as we visited the observatory to have a virtual show and lecture. Then got the heart stopping, hair raising gondola back down to Wellington. At present [View Full Entry]

Hi again, Thanks for the sarcy comments 'bigbro'. Well the night in Taupo was rather more lively than we planned. With a meal and drink for what came to 4 pounds and a good view of the screen for the NZ versus Auz match. (NZ won for anyone who doesn't know. Well a few drinkies later and Laura and Elinor are dancing away and Dave being very entertaining as usual. The YHA there is fab, the guy is so friendly and the place gets a view of the lake in the distance. Next morning feeling a little tired we set of [View Full Entry]

Okay where did we leave you? Think our last blog was to say that Elinor, Laura and Simon had arrived safetly and that they were coping with jetlag well. So 1st day in Auckland on Tuesday and the travellers managed to get down before 9amm to get breakfast, very impressive. We headed out into the town centre and straight for the sky tower, which just dominates the sky line. Spent some time viewing the whole of Auckland and beyond from the different level platforms and watch some nutters jump off on the bungy they have there. Very sunny day so the [View Full Entry]

Hi there, gem again, well early in the morning here in Auckland. We picked up my friends Elinor, Laura and Simon yesterday and yes there was some tears at the arrivals gate. Lovely to see them, feels very strange walking down the street and them being there. Their journey was very long as they have to be and they only managed 4 hours sleep and so were walking zombie all of yesterday. But they managed to stay awake till 9 so did better than me. We managed to navigate our way to the hotel through the maze of Auckland traffic. Think [View Full Entry]

first night for the new pommes

Big news! Got woken up by Lucy the pregnant sheep bleeting and making very strange noises, she was due at any moment and after a few hours out pops a brand new Lamb. My mum was very proud and Lucy has bonded well although think the lamb has got her under her little hoof as she won't let here out of sight for a few moment to eat, think she will be a very skinny Sheep soon if she doesn't calm down. Very cute, name yet to be decided, we think it is female as no winkle seen. Ta ra for [View Full Entry]

Gem here, Well we have finally said goodbye to south island and are back with my parents in porangahau for a couple of days. Our last few days in Christchurch were good fun. We stayed at Amber Park campsite which was very freindly and only a short bus ride into the town centre. On tuesday we went to the Antarctic centre, well worth the visit, where we spent 3 hours, good fun and fascinating. They have a real snow room where you get dressed up and go down to -5 degrees (haven't we done this before?). Get to slide down an [View Full Entry]

Firstly congratulations to Chee who won the Dunedin quiz- i dont know how , i think perhaps he has too much time on his hands but anyway - Edinburgh / yellow eyed and penguins was the right answer as seals and sealions have a better sense of smell -ahhhhhhhhh (although sealions do honk the most!). Welldone to Andy for mentioning the penguin wrapper gagg which i never saw coming and for mum for becoming an interacive blogger! Unfortunately brother Ray is apparently still having problems working out how to make general comments although has mastered the private comments - maybe Ray [View Full Entry]
