hi from HCM Asia » Vietnam » Southeast » Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City is the heart and soul of Vietnam. It's a bustling, dynamic and industrious centre, the largest city in the country, the economic capital and the cultural trendsetter. . This is a city that churns, ferments, bubbles and fumes. The streets, where much of the city's life takes place, is a jumble of street markets, shops, pavement cafes, stands-on-wheels and vendors selling wares spread out on sidewalks. Its also retained its french influence as much of the architecture and cafes etc are familiar! They even have Notre Damn cathedral in the centre! We arrived after a 7 hour [View Full Entry]

We arrived at our beach resort which was quiet and very scenic despite the poverty which surrounded us. The next few days was a chance to relax and detach ourselves from reality, taking in the sun, the warm sea and the endless sand! We went on an island trip for the day with just us on the island playing volley ball/ snorkelling and fishing. The food we had was great- barbequed barracuda cooked on a fire on the beach! Hey i even caught a fish with a bottle, a hook and some bate. Bayus our guide for the day was excellent [View Full Entry]

Well guys its all been a bit hectic since we arrived in Bangkok, Elton my travel buddy ended up in hospital with an eye injury from a contact lens which unfortunately ended up being worse than we all thought. At present though he is recovering well. To catch up the group i flew from Bangkok airport to Siem Reap, as it happens avoiding one of the worse bus rides of all time. The original flight i had booked was cancelled which meant that i had to wait till 7pm that evening to fly. On arriving in Siem reap i met a [View Full Entry]

Happy New year everyone whether you were in Hellgill,York,Blackpool or Sydney im sure it was a wild one, my day consisted of a life threatening Tuk Tuk ride around bangkok- better than any adrenalin rush if your sleepy followed by a spot of shopping on Khosan rd. That evening we had a meal in a great location by the river in downtown Bangkok, the meal wasn't up to much but the company/ views and singha beer were fantastic! We started celebrating at 8 as we brought new year in from Sydney, i had an unexpected phone call from oz at their [View Full Entry]

ok bad title! We left Karbi and arrived at Khao Sok national park a few hours later. This was deep in the jungle and we stayed in huts all of which were different. Some were treehouses and they were literally a house/hut in a tree, others were riverlodges with balconys overlooking the river, some were tents in deep rainforrest. In the centre of the complex was a large bar and restraunt, but quiet as there was pretty much just us there and the staff. The manager was a German named Claus and the rest of the staff were Thai and spoke [View Full Entry]

A year ago today was when the destructive tsunami hit phi phi island taking many lives, today i was to arrive a year later to see how the island had progressed. The boat first took us to a few locations, the beach where 'The Beach' was shot and other snorkelling spots around the islands. On arrival at phi phi there seemed no evidence of reconstruction, infact you wouldnt have known that the island had been through such a traumatic time. Crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and enormous rocks that just came out of the see and dominated the landscape. On [View Full Entry]

hey there! Well ive headed north from KL now, we caught bus 4 hours north through the genting and cameron highlands to an island in the middle of lake. The island is on Lake chenderoh which is north Malaysia and the only village of its kind surounded by a lake. From here we learnt how to play an old game called chongkak - which basically takes all night. In the morning we caught a boat to another island on the lake. On here there was a tiny village called Batu. This place seemed forgotten in time as we strolled through the [View Full Entry]
