Some dream their life...I live my dreams.

Life is about experience, sharing and love...

Welcome to my little world, welcome to our wonderful earth!

This blog is our path for the last 2 years and few months...

We started in Shanghai, where Leslie had joined me back in early 2007...than Ma'ri joined us the 1st of April 2008...and we have just "moved" to Bangkok. The reason is simple, we are so much on the road that we'd better be as close as we can to the idea of "perfect living conditions"...

"La maison du bonheur" has therefore moved down south to Bangkok...and you should enjoy a lot more blogs in the future...we are closer to the diving, and to much more fun...Shanghai was a great party town...Bangkok is a great "activities" town...sunshine most of the time...with a little bit of rain from time to time!

I grasp the chance we have, full time family, full time surrounded by great friends...and all over the world all the time. Not easy not to be pretentious...so let me say I'm simply thankful for life. Simple rule, don't pretend, because you get what you work for!

All these entries belong to the last few months, over the next few months...a lot more of new adventures! Can't wait to hit the road...in style...with love!

And a small note regarding the current situation...it's in difficult time that you can build great mind and souvenirs...it's not anymore about work hard...play hard, it's about work efficiently...and share with your love ones the exceptional!

At first I had no idea what to expect. Actually, I didn't even know what was Bhaktapur two weeks ago. Than, we got on our flight to Kathmandu, and I had to ask myslef, what are we going to see in this land that I know so little about. Small notice, don't forget that we nearly never travel with a guide book... Bhaktapur became very fast an obvious choice. It is an old city 14km from Kathmandu. Most cars are not allowed in, and tourist have to pay 10USD just to enter the city. Somehow, I think cities like Venise should [View Full Entry]

The main aim of our trip to Nepal was to do some serious rafting for few days. Well, I guess plan are made to be changed. We headed early morning to the Bhote Koshi Valley. Our schedule was pretty tied and I couldn't find any decent river to raft in 3 days. So we did sign for a 2 days trip rafting on the Bhote Koshi as well as one day of canyoning, staying two nights in the camp of Borderlands. Bhothe Koshi translate in Nepalese as the Tibetan River, flowing as its name indicates it from Tibet, just 15 [View Full Entry]

Nepal....peaceful...

Nepal has been on my wishlist for ever...the land up there...I did not know exactly what to expect. Read a fair amount of blogs on the country, but not that many were very glorious. So here we are to judge by ourselves. My parents are in Bangkok for few days enjoying grandparenting with Leslie, and we are off for few adventurous days. Our first stop, Kathmandu. We did not stay in Thamel, the tourist area. We went there, but were very happy to escape as soon as we could. So did not see that many hippies going around...it's more a mix [View Full Entry]

It's October holidays for most International Schools in Bangkok, and Leslie has a week off too. So we continue our little round of "Discovery Thailand". Not really my first visit to Hua Hin, as the last time I came here was 5 years ago. We did not plan one thing, from 23rd to 25th October, Hua Hin is going to host the 15th Asean Summit, you know, the same one that had to be canceled in April in Pattaya due to heavy demonstrations. This time, the Thai government did not do things half-way...as they have deployed 36,000 security forces in the [View Full Entry]

"When carrying a camera can be more dangerous than carrying a gun"....it's the day you land in DRC, Congo at his best. So for this entry, my pictures are merely existing...as most of the time, the place for the camera was safely deep in my pocket. I will come back later on this lack of pictures. There are countries which are simply not on my wish list to visit. But than again, if you know me you know I love to make plans, and for me, plans are made to be changed. So why Lubumbashi, capital of Katanga, why Am I [View Full Entry]

What is your idea of a great week-end? This is a tricky question. Our last week-end was amazing...and by the number of messages and comments we received on travelblog, you seems to agree with this. In Shanghai, a great week-end was full of partying...and some decent weather. In Bangkok...great week-end...seems simply to be one more adventure...one more session of great fun! So this week-end, Leslie is in Vietnam....don't worry...I'm sure he also enjoyed his time. So as he "decided" to left us on our own, we escaped to the north of Thailand...or more precisely...not up up north there, mor more. [View Full Entry]

I first would like to thanks few people for the input they had in this entry...and who have helped us preparing another wonderful week-end. First, our fellow members from Travelblog, Sophie and Dale. We may not have done the same trip, but their entry on Kanchanaburi was the inspiration for this weekend. Second, I want to thank Olivier who gave me the advise for our lodging. It's impressive how much you can pack in a single week-end. This is maybe due to the fact that on Friday, Leslie finishes school at 2.30pm...and this is the beginning of our week-end. I [View Full Entry]

We have now been for few days in Thailand. Home is starting to really mean home...and this is great. Lelsie has plenty of friends at school, and we are all settling pretty well. So week-end are in for discoveries. This time, it's a day trip to Ayutthaya. It's the second capital of Thailand. Ayutthaya lays some 90km outside of Bangkok. There are many ways to visit it...we chose the "easy" way by booking a tour through the Shangri-La. You leave the hotel early morning by bus, visit Ayuthaya, and than board a 3 hours cruise on the Chao Phraya on the [View Full Entry]

Here we are...Bangkok! I've dreamed it for years, plans have been to settle here for years....and finally, we made it with Leslie and Ma'ri. Why Bangkok...closer to the diving, closer to a lot more golf...and all of these, at a reasonable prices. We will still be on the road all the time, as somehow, Bangkok will only be our resting nest. I've never been very attracted by the chinese food and the chinese way of life while we were living in Shanghai. But here it's different. I love the good manners of the Thais, their food and the general atmosphere here. [View Full Entry]

It's the end of the summer holidays, and I'm actually writing this few days after our final trip. We have arrived in Bangkok, ready to settle in our new home. But first, a last few days for Ma'ri and I while Leslie is enjoying some time with his Mum. We arrived safely after nearly 6 hours bus ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. We arrived at the bus station and hired our tuk-tuk for the next few days straight on. The great idea of having the same guy for few days is that you never have to negotiate after this [View Full Entry]
