Arrived in Chiang Mia after a 12 hour train ride wasn't too bad. At least I had a flat bed for this trip and even if it wasn't the comfortable bed I've ever been in I was still lying flat which was good. Making it to the hostel around 9am and having to wait around until 2pm for check in wasn't too bad, I got to catch up a bit on the net and make a couple of Skype calls. Have I mentioned how much I love Skype, Line and Whatsapp?? technology these days is Awesome!! If you don't have them get them now!! haha Chiang Mai was good, straight away you feel the people are more friendly and not trying to scrap every last cent out of you, except for the tuk tuk drivers but ... read more

After having such a great few days in Melbourne before leaving made, me feel a little sad about leaving the country again but, I soon put my mind to the good times I have ahead. Flight from Melbourne to Singapore was good, sitting next to a Chinese Canadian that was in his 40s and had the love for travelling as well. He was of his way to Kathmandu to climb Everest base camp with some old mates from Germany, sounded like a great adventure that sometime I will do as well. He had been all over the world and mentioning Columbia and Chile were pretty much his favourite countries, something I have added to the bucket list. Making it to Singapore and my connecting flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia I found my hostel and checked in ... read more

Welcome to Hard Seat Overnight Train from Nha Trang to Da Nang, duration 14 hours. This I can truly say was one of the worst trips I've ever done in my life. Some would say character building, I would say just a pain in the arse in more ways than one... With Jazza and my motorbikes put on the train the day before all we had was our backpacks and tickets ready for the big train adventure. Getting to the train station 30mins before departing Anna, Jazza and I stocked up on baguettes and beers to have on the train. Before getting on the train I thought to myself this was going to be an experience. The carriages looked like they were built before the war and meant to house animals with with mesh covering the ... read more

With the action packed day of cannoning the day before it was time to say goodbye to Dalat and make our way to Nha Trang. During my time in Dalat I meet an English girl in her early 20s named Anna that was heading to Nha Trang as well so with a little bit of convincing she deciding to jump on the back of my bike to really see Vietnam for the next leg. This part of the trip the whole gang was together, Jazza, Maarten, Rob, Meaghan, Anna and I, which was the first of many trips throughout Vietnam together. With a planned get away set at 8am we all got together but Jazza run into a few problems with his bike and had to find a mechanics to do a quick fix. This really ... read more

Making it to Mui Ne finally after my adventures with the Coffee Girl and nearly being stuck in the middle of no where with no money, I was excited. Mui Ne is the Kite Surfing capital of Vietnam, this did not go to plan though with no wind and from talking to a few people wind not expected for a while and the overall season had been pretty shit, spew.... I caught up with Jazza (mentioned in my other blog), who was also travelling with Maartrten (20 odd year old Dutch guy), they both had met a couple in their previous travels that had also bought a motorbike, Rob (late 30's Canadian) and Meagan (33 American). So I had a few drinks over the next few days with my new group of friends. With the winds ... read more

Leaving Saigon with my new bike I was a little nervous but mostly excited about what was to come. Making my way through the crazy traffic of bikes, cars, trucks and buses there seemed to be no rules other then size matters!! Surviving the day I was roughly 150kms out of Saigon with around 150kms left to Mui Ne when the sun started to go down at 5:30pm. Stopping for a coffee on the side of the road I asked the girl where a hotel was with my trusty piece of paper the receptionist in Saigon wrote out for me converting English to Vietnamese for questions like, how much is this? Where is the nearest ATM? Where is the nearest hotel? This piece of paper has been worth it's weight in gold. With it becoming dark ... read more

The ups and downs of Vietnam.... Flying to Vietnam from Malaysia I was really excited. Last year in August was my first time to Vietnam and I had amazing trip, mainly thanks to Mr Quy an Easy Rider guide that joined on his motorbike from Dalat to Saigon which has become one of the best experiences I've had in my whole life. With this in mine and after the last couple of days in Malaysia where at points i was starting to feel lonely you'd expect me to be little excited. With the Air Asia Plane landing and completing the some what painful Vietnam Visa process, I had my bags and off to find my way to District 1 where I had booked my hostel, Saigon Youth Hostel. Amazingly enough I found it straight away even ... read more

I’ve been Kota Kinabalu for a week now and once again it’s been a full on time. It all starts with the flight here, leaving Tokyo, Japan on Sunday 25th of March about 11:30pm. The flight ended up taking roughly 7hrs to Kuala Lumpur so by the time we got there I wasn’t in the best shape; legs just didn’t want to move. Waiting 5hrs for my connecting flight to KK (Kota Kinabalu), I got some food and updated everyone on Facebook I was still alive and well. The Flight to KK was pretty quick only taking 2hrs and organising a taxi from the airport to my hotel Eden54 was a breeze. Checking in I was welcomed with a nice clean double bed room to myself, which was a well-received change from the accommodation I had ... read more

March 27th 2012

It's Monday 26/03/12 today it's been a while since I put up a new blog, well pretty much the whole time I was in Tokyo and there's a reason for that. Tokyo rocks and it seems I didn't have a spare moment to myself and the times I did I colloapsed asleep which on some nights didn't even happen either. I'll start with when I left Nozawa-Onsen which was a week ago today 19/03/12. Packed my bag and it feels like it's picked up another ton somewhere along the way or maybe it was just my legs, because I think snowboarding every day for 15 days was pushing it on my body especial for the first time in 5 years. Leaving the lodge I jumped on the local bus to the train station. This was a ... read more

So just when I thought life couldn’t get much better it has!! On Wednesday after yet another big day of powder plus it was my first day with my new board I bought for $AUD168 delivered from a Japanese website (not bad), we decided to stay out on the mountain and watch the sunset (great idea). So to do this we had to duck away in the no ski zone before the chairlifts stop and ski patrol buzzes around getting everyone off the mountain. Ohh and not to forget to take enough beer to last the sunset. At 3:30pm Matt, Tim and I took the top chair lift and dived under the no ski fence and headed along a peak to find a perfect spot for the sunset view. After snapping a few a few photos ... read more
