| 29th May 2009 Omega | Buenos Aires - From: Recoleta, Bellas Artes and Japanese Gardens Dawn, You won't be disappointed! Buenos Aires is a magical place with much to see and a real bargain for international travelers... I am looking forward to returning there for another visit. |

| 13th May 2009 Omega | Surfs Up! (In the desert??) - From: Death Valley - Valle de la Muerte When the wind picks up, the flow of sand must get more "fluid"... I was there during a relatively calm day, so I did not get to see it. BTW, both surfers and snow boarders practice their sports down large sand dunes in the Sahara and the experience appears to have a similar "look and feel".... |
| 13th May 2009 Joaquin | Surfs Up! (In the desert??) - From: Death Valley - Valle de la Muerte Thanks for thinking of me with the "surfing plants". Was the sand flowing past them? And I also get the sense of peace from actual surfing that you get from your trips to the desert. |
| 12th May 2009 Andre | great! - From: Death Valley - Valle de la Muerte Hi Luis, Great pictures, beautifull light, an other world! I look forward to see this during our summer holiday. Thanks, Andre |

| 24th March 2009 Omega | Loved your pilgrim photos - From: Santiago de Compostela and the Way of Saint James Begonia, My primary camera is a Canon EOS-1, but when I do walking treks I use a Canon G9, which is much more compact and easy to carry. I still need to do the Way of Saint James the way that you plan to do it. This time, I arrived into Santiago the easy way... :-( You will need a travel guide book; a sleeping mat may be optional if you opt to sleep at the "peregrino" lodges along the way. If you just do the segment between the French border and Santiago, you won't have any problems finding places to sleep. |
| 24th March 2009 BegoniaD | Loved your pilgrim photos - From: Santiago de Compostela and the Way of Saint James I just hope my time over May through to July will be as photogenic. What make camera do you use. One with a supper zoom from Santigos shot I bet?. How long did you spend walking and did you carry much gear? I am specially intereted as to whether you took a sleeping mat and travel guide book?? I have just started my blog and hope to write a bit before I go, then continue once I start my camino from about the 20th May 09. Regards Begonia |

| 6th March 2009 Omega | great pics - From: Living the New Among the Familiar Danny y Lore, Gracias por el comentario... |
| 6th March 2009 Danny and Lore | great pics - From: Living the New Among the Familiar Luis... que buenas fotos de atardeceres. Te mande otro email preguntandote como las tomaste, a ver si aprendo un poquito mas. |
| 25th February 2009 Omega | Wow, great shots! - From: Santiago de Compostela and the Way of Saint James Thank YOU liliram! I hope that you do visit Spain a third time and find the time to visit the Galicia region... It is incredibly beautiful and the people are so friendly and hospitable... I will be back one of these days too. |
| 24th February 2009 liliram | Wow, great shots! - From: Santiago de Compostela and the Way of Saint James Thanks for the blog. I have long planned to visit Santiago de Compostela, but missed it the 2 times I visited Spain. Perhaps on my 3rd visit. Keep it coming. It has been awhile since your last blog. |

| 23rd October 2008 Clint Holmes | Panoramania - From: Honduras… a Wedding, a Reunion, and a Mayan Adventure Awsome! Thanks for the tip, feliz viaje! |
| 22nd October 2008 Omega | Banners - From: Honduras… a Wedding, a Reunion, and a Mayan Adventure Clint, When you add a blog entry on Travelblog.org and you add photos via the "Blog Entry Photo Management" screen, on the left of the pop-up, there is a button labeled "Panorama (Beta)"... It allows you to upload the panorama and create the banner for you... Very easy! |
| 22nd October 2008 Clint Holmes | Great - From: Honduras… a Wedding, a Reunion, and a Mayan Adventure Thanks for the advise. How do you display banners above your blog like that? Did you just impose the photo somehow? It looks great! |
| 22nd October 2008 Omega | Sounds fun - From: Honduras… a Wedding, a Reunion, and a Mayan Adventure Clint, When you visit Copán, you might want to do it for at least a couple of days (if not more!)... There is much to do and see there, including horseback exploring of some sites beyond the main complexes. I did the panoramc photo using a small Canon G9 camera that I carry with me most of the time... It has a very handy function for taking several pictures in such a way that you can group them together with some special software later. Thanks for your comment! |
| 22nd October 2008 Clint Holmes | Sounds fun - From: Honduras… a Wedding, a Reunion, and a Mayan Adventure Copan sounds fun. I live in Comayagua and I plan on visiting Copan this summer. Sounds like you kept yourself pretty busy while here in Honduras, I'm glad the weather cleared up for your visit. Good blog. How did you get the banner of Copan at the top of your blog? It looks great. |
| 8th October 2008 Omega | In Search of the Legendary Working Windmill - From: In Search of the Legendary Working Windmill I am glad to learn that you do plan to do some travel before law school! Germany is a great place to do it! I look forward to reading your blogs.... I have to confess that I have been very late publishing blogs as of lately... Since the Netherlands, I have written two other blogs about two other trips, but the pictures are still sitting on my home computer's hard drive waiting to be selected... and I have not been home long enough to do it... |
| 7th October 2008 ilchicag | Glad you're blogging some more! - From: In Search of the Legendary Working Windmill Sounds like you had an interesting adventure in The Netherlands... very off the beaten path. :) Both Naarden and Weesp sound very enchanting; now I have two more places to add to the list of places to go! And as always, your photos always inspire me, and make me jealous I'm not traveling too! Good luck with the rest of your time in Amsterdam. |
| 7th October 2008 Nazila Lajevardi | Nice photos - From: In Search of the Legendary Working Windmill You brought all of my memories back from the time I was in Amesterdam. Enjoy your trip and have fun. Nazila Lajevardi |
| 19th September 2008 Graciela | Lovely place - From: All Around and not so Way Beyond Amsterdam I have been to Volendam and it´s in my memories. I haven´t seen pictures of that place since I saw yours. Wonderful. Love from Argentina. |
| 19th September 2008 Nazila Lajevardi | I really admire your photos. - From: All Around and not so Way Beyond Amsterdam You are such a Professional photographer. The way you write it reminds my trip to Amesterdam in this summer. Enjoy your trip. |
| 29th June 2008 Omega | Xi'an - From: At the Dawn of China Erratic Traveller, The Beijing Olympic Games will end on August 24.. Depending of when in September you will be in the area, I would strongly recommend considering this side-trip. If these games are anything like previous ones, China should be back to normal by the beginning of September. |
| 28th June 2008 An Erratic Traveller | - From: At the Dawn of China I've been wondering whether to try and fit Xi'an into my September visit to China. This is definitely encouragement. (But since the olympic tourists will all be there I'll probably give it a miss this year.) |
| 4th June 2008 Omega | Lucky Traveller - From: From Medieval Eze to the Cannes Film Festival During dinner at Le Candille there was a large party sitting not far from ours that was arriving directly from the festival... I don't know who they were exactly but apparently they were related to one of the films competing there (they certainly had the "look")... Also, there were several Rolls parked in front of the hotel with drivers and all, that I am sure some of the VIPs were also staying there. |
| 4th June 2008 Lone Star Travelers | Lucky traveler I have always - From: From Medieval Eze to the Cannes Film Festival wondered about the atmosphere there in Cannes! Did you have any "brush with greatness?" among the vip's.My published travel writings focus mainly on Texas, so I really enjoy this site and photos. |
| 3rd June 2008 Omega | Watermark - From: From Medieval Eze to the Cannes Film Festival The software that I use does the watermark fairly automatically on both the high and low resolution... Not doing the watermark for the low-res would actually take some extra effort and disk space. |
| 3rd June 2008 Peter | watermark - From: From Medieval Eze to the Cannes Film Festival Is it really necessary to watermark every picture, at this low resolution ? |
| 3rd June 2008 ilchicag | Exciting! - From: From Medieval Eze to the Cannes Film Festival Sounds like you're having the ideal business trips in the South of France, and your pictures look like you've been able to really get away and see some great places/meet new people. Hope your luggage shows up soon!! |
| 28th April 2008 David Daniel | You found it! - From: Around the World in 80… uhmm… Minutes?? Luis, you are amazing! You can find "something" in the middle of the largest "nothing" on the planet! I was working there for 2 weeks last year and the best thing I found about Vegas was the fact that it was down the road from Zion and Bryce... I avoided "The Strip" like the plague! You have an amazing ability to separate the "wheat from the chaff"... I certainly couldn't do it! :-) |
| 27th April 2008 Omega | Gorgeous Photos! - From: Cathedral Gorge Clear blue skies seem to be a constant feature in Nevada. Strong gusts of wind made it sometimes difficult to approach the rim of the canyons without risking getting to their bases sooner that you would prefer ;-) |
| 27th April 2008 anonymous | - From: On the Road Towards the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Actually if you have enough patience, you may take better photoes. Now the bird's nest is much better prepared for your photographing. |
| 27th April 2008 florencesophie | - From: Cathedral Gorge thank you very much for this geological explanation and having taken these photos to be shared here -:) The movie is really great with the music. |
| 27th April 2008 capsfan2002 | Great blog - From: Valley of Fire Glad you pointed out this wonderful spot! |
| 27th April 2008 capsfan2002 | Gorgeous Photos! - From: Cathedral Gorge Looks like you had a great day for photography. |
| 23rd April 2008 Omega | Pics - From: Valley of Fire Sergio, We should plan on spending at least a couple of weeks around this area of the World... Can you imagine the imagery that the three of us could capture? |
| 23rd April 2008 ilchicag | :) - From: Valley of Fire Just one word: incredible! Okay maybe some more. :) I can't count how many times I've also thought about people of the future might view our civilization years from now; I just wonder if we'll leave the same impressions as people who left the rock drawings. It's amazing how you can say so much about a place that usually is just told in photographs! Can't wait for your next blog! |
| 23rd April 2008 Sergio | Pics - From: Valley of Fire Great pics, Dad! "Medusa's shadow" is very artistic! Can you take your sons next time? |
| 5th April 2008 Omega | Like the First Time! - From: Like the First Time! Thanks Jim! Good to hear from you... I hope that you are doing fine. I imagine that your koi pond is about to hit high gear with the warmer months just ahead... |
| 5th April 2008 Jim B | - From: Like the First Time! Louis, I always enjoy your writing and beautiful photographs. |
| 4th April 2008 ilchicag | Don't you just love NYC... - From: Like the First Time! Oh man, I was just in NYC and seeing your pictures really made me wish I were back--especially with the Central Park ice skaters. I was there for law school visits, but did make a point to do some exploring like yourself. Even though I've been there before, there is still so much to see in that city, even if you don't go to the major sites. It's refreshing to read that just by taking a walk or changing routine that you can see the world you live in. I loved reading this! :) |
| 17th March 2008 Omega | 2008 Beijing Olympic Games - From: On the Road Towards the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games It has been my experience that isolating a country does not improve the condition of its citizens... Actually when a country has more contact with the rest of the World the conditions tend to normalize. Though the Olympic Games are now a big business more than anything else, they do promote more of the positive contact among countries and their peoples... China has come a long way in recent years... Perhaps the Games will give them a further push in the right direction... |
| 17th March 2008 Omega | Japanese Trains - From: Very, Very Nice! But Wait... I Need to Fly Out Today!! Yes, the Japanese rail system can be very daunting at first. You do need some time to "break the code". My experience was particularly difficult because I was loaded with luggage in an environment where everyone travels very light. Even the briefcases of the office workers are tiny and slim. In spite of these problems, I still consider the Japanese rail system the best in the World.. One just need to abide by its idiosyncrasies and have some time to get used to it. |
| 17th March 2008 anonymous | - From: On the Road Towards the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Nice picture, but it's a shame that there is so much injustice against humans going on in China....sad!!! That's why Im kind of against the whole Olympic Games to take place there. Won't be surprise if the Chinese people boycott and do protests etc. during the Olympics. The torch has to start going through Tibet, where there are already protests. anyway....take care and enjoy your trip!!!!! |
| 17th March 2008 Donna | Japanese trains - From: Very, Very Nice! But Wait... I Need to Fly Out Today!! Using the Japanese train system was daunting enough in 1994--your description makes it seem now overwhelming. Trying to figure out the right train, trying not to panic in the crush of humanity every time the doors open, desparately trying to find someone who spoke English when my feeble attempts at Japanese failed-- I will never again take for granted a nice, easy to read, color-coated train system. | 14th March 2008 Omega | Cool Bird's Nest - From: On the Road Towards the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games I've seen 3 summer Olympic stadiums and 2 winter Olympic equivalents get very close to the deadline and make it! This one seems behind but I believe that what is left is the most cosmetic parts... The grounds are very messy right now, but the work goes on 7 / 24... Yes I agree; it is beautiful and looks even more so at night, but I would not climb the overpass in the dark!! |
| 13th March 2008 matthew26 | cool - From: On the Road Towards the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games pictures are awesome.but is it going to be ready before the actual Olympic game starts? it really looks beautiful. |
| 13th March 2008 karen033 | --- - From: Kiawah Island These photos are very quiet beautiful! |
| 12th March 2008 capsfan2002 | Wow - From: At the Dawn of China This site has stayed in my top 20 list of places I want to see. Your pictures are great and I so wish I could see it tomorrow! |
| 10th March 2008 Omega | Amazing Soldiers - From: At the Dawn of China I had the distinct impression that I was just scratching the surface at Xi'an (considering that it was the base for 13 dynasties, including Tang)... It must be a great experience to be able to live there. Thank you for the recommendations, I now have even more reasons to return and give the city some quality time! |
| 10th March 2008 Bill and Nancy | Amazing soldiers - From: At the Dawn of China I can still remember being overwhelmed the first time I stood and saw that pit and all those soldiers! That was in 1986. I have returned 4 or 5 times since and the thrill never ceases! You missed a treat in not seeing the wonderful modern museum in Xi'an that shows the archaeological discoveries of many years. Also there is another nearby site Famen Temple with a finger bone of the Buddah (the earliest Buddhist site in China). I have visited and lived in Xi'an several times (for up to 9 months one time) and never have seen half of what is available. Do fly there again and stay at least one night. Make someone show you the Pagodas(small and large Goose) and the Provencial museum, go to Famen if you have time. Xi'an is so often seen on a rush trip but the more time you give it the better you will love it (except for the dirty air). |
| 10th March 2008 tannismc | Great photos! - From: At the Dawn of China Nice to see some different, and good quality, photos from this place. It's high on my list of places to see whenever I finally make it to China. |
| 14th February 2008 ilchicag | It's the journey that counts - From: Very, Very Nice! But Wait... I Need to Fly Out Today!! Very entertaining entry. I find it fascinating that so many times it is the journey and not always the destination that makes traveling memorable. The pictures are stunning as well. I always love a good contrast between old meets new. :) Enjoy Atlanta. |
| 14th February 2008 Omega | All The Peoples - From: Very, Very Nice! But Wait... I Need to Fly Out Today!! I'll check it out... Thanks! |
| 14th February 2008 All The Peoples | All The Peoples - From: Very, Very Nice! But Wait... I Need to Fly Out Today!! Hi, I have a new website: www.allthepeoples.com and I would love if you'd post some of your images on the site. We want to publish as many images as possible from all places in the world. Check it out! |
| 7th February 2008 ilchicag | Calligraphy - From: Temple of Earth and Niujie Mosque Wow, initially I thought that the calligraphy artist was writing in temporary ink or something, never plain water... it's so beautiful though. He must have worked rather fast. I've always been amazed at Chinese and Japanese characters. Great photo capturing him in the act! |
| 28th January 2008 Omega | Great Blog! - From: Dong Yue Miao, Taoism, Confucianism and Ancient Higher Education Thanks much for stopping by and for your kind words.... |
| 28th January 2008 ilchicag | Great Blog! - From: Dong Yue Miao, Taoism, Confucianism and Ancient Higher Education Hey, just want pop in and say that I enjoyed reading this entry, very informative yet humorous! I agree about history aspect too. After standing in places older than imaginable, it's easier to appreciate learning what the dates and people long gone actually have contributed to the world. Especially when you get to see how the same story does tend to repeat itself over and over again. Great photos too! |
| 7th January 2008 Omega | On Explorers and Travelers' Sacred Ground - From: On Explorers and Travelers’ Sacred Ground Thanks for the compliment! The other side of the coin is that people who travel with me tell me that I spend too much time with my camera... |
| 7th January 2008 beaniebaby0611 | - From: On Explorers and Travelers’ Sacred Ground the photos are outta this world! if u took the photos yrself, then u're a great photograher :) |
| 2nd January 2008 Omega | Loved Charleston - From: Charleston and Last Days at Kiawah Thank you for the comment. We also wanted to do the boat tour of the harbor. There is normally one that goes from Kiawah to Charleston and then it does the tour when it gets there. Unfortunately, they don't run during the winter months. Elizabeth and I stayed at a B&B during a previous visit (don't know if it was haunted or not, but the age of the house made it very possible that someone could have died there in the past). We also visited Fort Sumter, where the American Civil War started. I agree that Charleston is a great town for quality couple time... |
| 2nd January 2008 Omega | Thanks for reminding me of my favorite beach - From: Kiawah Island Thanks for the comment. You do need to re-visit. I would like to read a blog of yours about Kiawah Island. I enjoyed very much your recent Queenstown report. |
| 2nd January 2008 Jan Hegedus | Loved Charleston - From: Charleston and Last Days at Kiawah I was in Charleston several years ago. Our family vacation was to Myrtle Beach. One concession my husband made to get his 3 days of golf was to watch the kids one day while I went to Charleston for the day with some of the other members of our party. We did the bus ride to and from with a boat tour of the harbor, carriage tour of town and some free time to do some much needed shopping. One of my favorite books is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. There were a lot of references in the book to Charleston. The house that Rhett built for Scarlett in Atlanta was based on a house that exists in Charleston. It looked much as described in the book and appears in the movie. The buggy driver went into a lot of detail regarding the book, local history and facts. IT was an informative trip. I hope to get back there one day for more than a few hours. Maybe a stay at a "haunted" B&B and some good quality couple time. |
| 27th December 2007 Alan and Donna | Thanks for reminding me of my favorite beach - From: Kiawah Island It's been many years since I visited Kiawah Island. Your photos of my favorite beach are a reminder that I should re-visit soon. Great work! |

| 4th December 2007 Omega | Exploring a Cradle of Explorers - From: Exploring a Cradle of Explorers This particular cat seemed to like flute music (or at least not mind it much). She slept in the same position from the time I arrived until I left. According to her human staffer, she is 4 years old and quite active sometimes. |
| 4th December 2007 Omega | Exploring a Cradle of Explorers - From: Exploring a Cradle of Explorers May, I took that picture relatively early in the morning...
