La Paz-Uyuni-SanPedro (Chile)well we are in chile now and on our way back to peru tonight... we got in to san pedro de atacama chile at about noon today aftere finishing our tour of the salar de uyuni... so back to la Paz... we took the always relaxing night bus to uyuni which got us in there early enough that all the tour operator were closed so hid from the cold in a sketchy place for a mate de coca... after killing as much time as possible we went out into the gaunlet of ´tour´ operators on the street and [View Full Entry]

Cuzco-La Paz...ishwell after the inka trail we spend a night in cusco and were headed copacabana in bolivia so we grabbed a bus the next day (18th?) headed to puno... on route kyle was pretty sick so we decide to spend the night in puno and head to copacabana the next day... well a lot has happened in the last 5 days here is my summary... on the 10th we started out on the inca trail waking up at 5 throwing the last little bits together... out to the bus at 545... we were a group of 14... us three a couple from thunderbay a gaggle of ausies and an american... we drove for about 2 hours to ollayantambo and ate some breakfast and were at the trail head by 9ish... there we met our porters... 18 in total including the 2 cooks... this was a bit strange for us because we had [View Full Entry]

well when we last posted we had arrived into cusco... in the last few days we packed in inca sites a trip to the sacred valley and massages... on the 6th (ish) we did a city tour of all the old inca sites first stop was the Templo del Sol or Korikancha which was an inca temple and was then used as a foundation for a catholic church which was a very symbolic juxtopostion of the culture here... next stop was the hill top fortress of Sacsayhuamán which was the place of the last stand of theincas where they lived as [View Full Entry]

finishing up in lima yesterday we went to the national museum which was huge and we missed a lot...we then headed back to central Lima fo the changing of the guards at the president´s place... and wow what a show... so everyday at nooon they block the streets off with riot police and then inside the palce gate a band marched around... they started off playing the national anthem (we think) but the after a quikc break the broke out into... yeah you guessed it the hawaii 5-0 theme song... which was followed by twist and shout... greese lightning... yeah we [View Full Entry]

well we made it after too long sitting on the airplane... and a quick stop in huston... we are safely in Lima... when we arrived there was a seethingmass of taxi drivers vying for our fare but since we are rock stars they had sign with lyle powell and we were wisked away ... and despite some sketchy driving, lima has been pretty calm...so far after to checking into out hostal.. we wondered arond it and discover that due to renos we are the only ppl there... which i guess lets you know that internet reservations can be bad...
