How does onw prepare for this awesome adventure? Hi there! Wow! I love your story and I cannot wait to visit Nosy Komba myself!! My hubby and I are going there soon to di Forest volunteering, so what advise would you give us, in terms of what to pack, is there electricity at the camp to charge cameras, what snacks can one take with?
Any advise would be welcome!!!
Also, did you guys dive while being there?
Thank so much!
Hi, glad you liked our story. Sorry for the slow response, we are still on the road. Yeah we really enjoyed Nosy Komba! As for what to pack - they prep you pretty well for that, I think, but a few other suggestions: clothes that work well in the heat, and good bug dope. Yes, you can charge things in the main building when they put on the generator for an hour or two each day, I'd recommend a solar charger. You can get snacks in Hell-vile, but one thing you might want to bring is peanut butter if you like it as much as I do. You can get it in Hellville too but it is kind of expensive. We didn't dive at all, but there is a decent reef right off the camp. Have a great time if you go!
NZ Plans Hi Nancy,
Gay can give you some suggestions on the NZ leg of your trip if you want. People, places, etc. Sounds like you're having a great time so far. Cheers. Rob
What a feat! What a great feeling you must have to check this adventure off your bucket list! The pictures are incredible but I'm sure they do not do the actual view any justice. How does this trek rate from all the hikes you have done? I'm sure it is somewhere near the top of your list. This trip, I'm sure will never be forgotten. Keep telling us your adventure stories. They are great to read!
awesome Love the blog....you guys are awesome...am really glad you are having a blast already. We are keeping our part of the bargain up and spanking the opposition in vball. I look forward to reading more adventures! Oh yeah..finished my marathon...took a ridiculous 5 hrs (but it was 27deg C in Columbus that day...so damn hot and had knee injury) but a finish is a finish. No confusing this Clydesdale with a Kenyan! Cheers to you both,
Jon
My Murrs! It's like the Murrs took off to meet you guys for a bit down under. That is almost creepy how much that dingo looks like him. It certainly does explain some of his more wild tendencies. He liked looking at it on the blog. Can't wait for you guys to come home!!!!
Thumbs up on the written reports... Seriously...they are almost as entertaining as the pictures and scenery. Great description...and a career in stand up apparently.
Bon Voyage May you have as much fun in Australia as you have in NZ. It might be wise to stay in the Southern states to avoid the drought and heat.
hugs to Nancy
I am loving your pictures and commentary!!! Keep an eye out for older tourists. Dave's Mom and Dad are over there right now too. If you run into any tour groups with a cruise ship, ask for the Willards!
Arts & Crafts Hey dude. Nice photos. Looks like you are having a great time. By the way, nice close up shots of the local balls.
Capris eh? Honestly. I've taught you nothing.
You Guys Rip Facebook told me to get back in touch with you, imagine how jack I was to see you were in NZ, Wild.
How long are you there for. I love the pics, I'm gonna keep checkin out your blog. keep up the good work.
Take care
Have fun

Hello down there! Sure enjoying your blog and amazed at the pics. Loving your sense of humour as you write of your exciting and daring experiences. Keep the posts coming. I tune in for a smile and a dream for the day. Stay safe.

Awesome! Hi you two! Thanks for the link! Love reading your entries and the pics. Looks like an awesome trip. Definitely a trip high on our list. We're off to south central Costa Rica in March...going to play with the monkeys! Have tons of fun and would love to hear more when you get home.
Kate will love NZ Belize is a pretty sweet deal as well!
From what we can see (and we have watched closely for all our new moms and dads) NZ is an easy place to travel with kids. It is a great destination! To bad it takes so long to get here! Nothing compared to South Africa I am sure!
Mr. Blue Frog is alive... The Board does not allow access to our blog so I have to send Mr.BF's pictures over e-mail. You can see his pics when I get home. I think he may be having more fun then us!
Thanks to you... It was your excitement of the hike that made sure we did it. We actually extened our stay in National Park for a day because the weather was not good on the day we planned to hike. Thank goodness we waited. As you know the pictures do not do justice for the beauty of the pass.
