back in the loop what's up my man!
long, long time since vienna.. i'm fucking jealous at all this shit i'm seeing and reading. i am chillin' it philly, workin' for the man. ain't that a bitch? i'm digging everything you got on here so far. i shouldn't be looking at it b/c i might just get up quit, pack and head out again myself..
anyway, i will keep trackin' your journeys and living vicariously through you for now. i got some shit rollin on the east coast though. trying to start my own business to help out artists, while also up-starting my music with some musical cats. could be great, might be shit. it's easy finding people who like to play music, it's even not too hard to find people who really, really like it - but it's a fucking bitch finding people who are consumed with it. where's the love man? watch yo ass in colombia.

oh no Hey Colin, I was just reading your blog to see where you are now. I'm so sorry to hear about your journals, I know they mean a lot to you. You always were very good at taking the best out of every situation though, so I'm sure you will make it through this one. I went to all the same places as you and loved them as well-- it's fun for me to read about your thoughts on the places you visit since I know what you're talking about. I'll send you my good thoughts on the recovery of your journals. I hope things look up. Take care, Tess
Fabulous! Very well taken photographs and excellent choice of subjects. The best addition to me are the pictures of people, especially smiling children. That is what sets these photos apart from others of Guatemala I have seen. I thought I might like to visit, but now I am sure of it. Thanks, Colin
Christmas Under Water I too spent my Christmas diving... What an awesome thing that is. I was in Roatan doing my Advanced Certification as well. Congrats! Much easier than the Open Water huh? I was in Utila in September. That's where I got my Open Water. What dive shop are you with?
sounds fun Hey there man! yes, sounds like good ol Utila... lots of partying and lots of diving! That must be a great place to spend Christmas. I loved going to the treehouse bar as well, it's like a fairytale land... that is great you have gotten some gigs there-- the guys who work the bar are really friendly! Well sounds like things are going well which I'm happy to hear. Happy holidays to you!
Sam, didnt even know you spoke spanish That was pretty good man, didnt know you spoke! Good to hear from you. The trip looks like it could be taking a crazy turn. Glad youre playin that music, snowboardin, and doing golf, the things you like. And workin a lot! Anyway, you-re almost done with school. Well peace!
Colin

Good stuff Enjoying your travel adventure e-journal from afar. Love the pictures, too (worth one thousand words each, or so they say). Keep the stories coming as they brighten our diminishing hours of sunshine days. L, M
Far out Hey, Colin,
I'm very much enjoying your adventures through this e-journal, and am happy you figured out how to add the pictures as they are worth a thousand words each, or so they say. Keep the stories coming! mom
nice! I like both travel blogs...yours is more self reflective like a diary almost, addressing yourself and Tess's is more of a story addressing others and retelling more events. Good mix. I like it a LOT. Anyhow, I am sure you know more than I know, but Oaxaca is semi-expecting a military strike because of the amount of protests and uprising that has been taking place, so BE CAREFUL and depending on the info, you may need to avoid that wonderful part and go along the atlantic side. Lots o love!!! Ames
Business School? You alive man, your last note was over a week ago. Nice to see that Mexico has shown you the reality that vacationing in afluent European villages. Makin money can be a very nice thing. You should try it once you get all the wandering out of your system. I just got a good job, that allows me to go into desolate places for a week, maybe a week and a half at a time, then take a week or two off, and get paid for my week or two off!! Technicaly i'm on standby when i'm not working, so i could get called up, but usually i get 9 days off, and a week or so on. Pretty sweet I think, staring at about 30K and going up shortly after i have learned the geology stuff that i don't know with my chemistry background. Anyway, i'll probably do that for a year or so, save up money, then take a vacation like you. Then, on to business school, i think. See you there.
that's where we were We went to Guaymas, and some of the beach towns further up the coast. If you go past San Carlos, you get a much better mexican experience in the towns 10 or 20 miles north. The locals said that it is very safe to sleep on the beach, so we did, and it was a great experience. Guaymas isn't the best place though, the market is interesting, but the town is very industrial.
Hit me back Collin.

Here's the plan: I leave September 1st, go down to San Diego, cross that border, and then I'm in Mexico! I'll go down Mexico to Central America, go through all the countries there, then into South America. I want to make it to Rio di Janero in Brazil by Carnival, to meet some very good friends. We'll see what kinds of adventures I have...

Well, now I'm back. I finally did make it to Rio, ten months later. I had the most amazing and unexpected adventures in between, during, and after. In the end, I went to 16 countries, and traveled for 13 months. It feels good to be ... full info
