Firstly I would like to appologize that I haven't taken time to say thank you to all of you. We just been busy with our work. Your coming to Nepal has brought a new wave of enthusiasm in all parents with children with Autism. We are trying to do our best to establish our center, ACN. Thank you for your wonderful comments about ACN and Nepal. ACN and Nepal will always be in your and all the teams debt for what you have done in Nepal. We really wish that you all will come to visit us often in the coming years. Love you all. |

| 2nd July 2007 Matt | Hello (subtitled into English: "Hello") - From: Is that the sun we see?? While I was in Canada once, I was flipping through TV channels at a hotel, and saw a Chinese TV program, in which they were speaking Chinese, that was displaying subtitles (without me asking for them) in Chinese. I found out later that there are two dialects of Chinese (Madnarin and Cantonese, I think) that are spoken vastly different, but written the same. So even if you spoke the other dialect, you could still at least read what they were saying. When I was in Mexico, I found out that the same can sometimes happen with Spanish. Someone from Spain speaks Spanish quite differently from someone in, oh say, Ecuador. Cuba has it's own dialect as well. So that's most likely why the movie was subtitled in Spanish as well. And I always had a blast with that. Being my usual tactful self I always pondered out loud about how stupid that is that people who are speaking the same language are so removed from each other that they can't make heads or tails of what the other guy is saying. And while I don't believe in "karma", this whle thing culminated in: a co-worker of mine with a very deep southern drawl was working with one of our business partners in England, and they could not understand each other. I had to translate for 2 hours. ("Howdy"="Cheerio", "Shyoooot"="Bloody Hell", etc.) |
| 30th June 2007 Mama | Miss you! - From: Is that the sun we see?? Given the info you have shared so far, I think our plan will be to spend our time in Quito and the areas 2-hours North of Quito, then Cuenca...maybe visit one of the smaller Galapagos Islands, nearest the mainland. Want to hear more about Cuenca, please! My girl -- your orphanage search is most wonderful! All of my friends (that can't see your blog) say hello! Lorna and Skip ask about you, of course. Have a blast in Panama. Can you bring cigars back to the US? Uncles Joe and Ron would love it. Will write you a short personal e-mail later ... hugs, love and go girl! xoxox Mama |

| 25th June 2007 McGinn | 5 Pin Bowling - From: Ridin´ 13 deep in the back of a pick-up... Nik and Dan (Sorry, we haven't met), Looks like quite an adventure. With collapsing roads and the potential for dysentery abound, I just have one small warning...don't trust the Canadians. The picture gives the impression that they're nice, amenable folks with a smile and a kind word for everyone. It is all one big swindle. Before you know it, he will be bald, with a mustache and will try to park his RV in your driveway while he and 'the fam' take a rental up to Mackinac. She'll be inviting you up to Ottawa for Pro-Castro rallies and a county fair. Be weary. Be very weary. |

Hey Nikki, Your days in Ecuador remind me of my days in Spain, the same types of things happenned to us when we traveled. This is an awsome experience for you. By the way... your For Sale sign keeps moving to weird spots on our lawn, so if you need me to, I will make sure that it is in a highly visible spot! Take Care. |

| 21st June 2007 Nikkilovestotravel | I knew you would say that! - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Matt--I was waiting for you to comment on the Banos meaning and on the volcano. You crack me up! xoxo |
| 21st June 2007 Kelly | Hey!! - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Hey Nikki! I was so excited when I got your blog email notice! Your adventures make for great work avoidance!! Can't wiat for the next update!! Love, Kelly |
| 21st June 2007 Matt | meh - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. The city name is "Banos"? In Spanish, "Baños" means bathrooms. So who knows where these people will be peeing. You know, 2005 isn't that long ago, in geologic terms. That volcano may still be active. Those "clouds" in Banos may be ash filled! If the volcano does erupt, please catch some ash for me. I'm sure someone back at that bus station in Quito will sell you an official Ecuadorian ash-catching bucket. But you have to be careful with it, never expose it to the weather: always cover your ash. And the locals may say that the volcano is perfectly safe, but I bet they don't know their ash from a hole in the ground. Some people may ask you to snort some with them, but just tell them to "blow it out their ash". |
| 21st June 2007 Mama | ! - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Talked with Vince 2-nite. Larry printed your blog for him and he is really geeked! I not only sent the blog address to Ted, but to Lauri and Aileen, too. It's 6/20. Gram's birthday. She would be 79 today. In her honor I went out on the paddleboat toward the bridge, came back & watched the sun go down ... Love, Mama |
| 21st June 2007 Jackie | Awesome - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Thanks for sharing. This makes me want to travel again so much!!! I love your photos too! |
| 20th June 2007 Ted Villella | Hi Nik - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Just got mail from your mom so I could check this out. Cool. You write well. I am anxious to visit, something I would not have done (so many other places on my list). How far away from that gigantic waterfall in Brazil? It is on my list. I look forward to talking with you and getting to know you. Be well, be safe. enjoy. See if you can find some Eucadorian storytellers, the folklore of the area must be amazing - in particular intrest to me would be the creation myths - the same theme shows up all around the world... More later Ted |
| 20th June 2007 Diane Goodwin | Nice Pictures - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Thanks for taking me along on your trip. Sounds very beautiful there. That waterful is so amazing. I'll be waiting for more news of your trip - STAY SAFE!!! |

| 20th June 2007 Mama | Yeeeeehhhhaaaa! - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. Hey! I don't feel so stupid now! We walked three times, looking for the address/Iguana in New Town. Glad you are wise enough to make alternate bookings. My Girl. Bus was fun, eh? Took 45 minutes and a friendly cabbie to find a bus connection two-hours out to the ruins, but worth every minute. Glad you like the local travel-adventure -- much more worthwhile than taxis and tours. No animals on the bus this time??? So cool, Nik -- keep us updated about Banos, people, rainforests (if you get there). Did you find an orphanage yet? Geeked!!!! Love, Mama |
| 20th June 2007 Katie | Wow.. - From: You have to go potty, honey? Just go in the street like daddy does. everything looks amazing!! Good to hear your "bumps in the road" were little ones. Continue to keep us posted on your whereabouts! Love ya |
