So recently I've been half teacher, half tourist which has been brilliante. Erin visited us in Nanjing for a wee weekend of fun, and we had a few drinks as well as a few day trips to exciting places like Fuzi miao, where we got stared at like there was no tomorrow! Claire also came to visit which was v v v v good fun. We strolled around Nanjing and I repped my new endzz to her quite well, visiting Fuzi miao once again and the lake in our back yard which was lovely. Then we took a day trip to Shanghai which was certainly a paparazzi-ed one, but much fun still - we walked until our legs died, found an M&S and a Bershka, ate lots of nice tasty foods and went in and out ... read more

Tuesday = D-Day, aka my first day at SEU! I had my lesson planned all nicely on a powerpoint and luckily enough I managed to work out how to plug the bloody thing into the projector/OHD machine so everyone could see. It was so ridiculously hot and the classrooms only have fans rather than air conditioning so I was pretty much a Betty... ! My first group has a grand total of 5 students in it, but the second group has more around the 25 mark so it will make for quite an interesting shift! Both the groups are mainly medicine students or engineering PhDs so I have 'aged' overnight and I'm now am in my late 20s for as long as I can pretend!! A weekend of sightseeing was just the remedy for post-training blues. We ventured out to Fuzimiao and XuanWu Lake as well as eating a fair amount of tasty morsels along the way. Here are some photos of our joyous expeditions! Fuzimiao was exactly what we expected - a lovely, scenic, beautiful Chinese spot ruined by tacky tourism and shops. They were selling small animals as well, namely bunnies, kittens and puppies, which I can safely say got my pitying baby voice out. I almost, almost, persuaded Iain to let me buy a kitten but realised my crazy cat lady had got too carried away... Training has finished and the world is sweet again! We get our results later tonight (aka sometime in the next few weeks most likely) so hopefully there will be two big fat certificates of training joy waiting for us. Iain started work today and I had a work-related day trip/tour so we were both straight in. I was taken to visit Dr Sun Yatsen and then to see my teaching campus which is waaaaay out of town, but I was a shy British type and didn't take any photos of the campus this time... maybe next time. It's v. large and the buildings are spaced out quite dramatically like it's a real city in itself.
