Nigel and Arianna - Nigel and Arianna

Nigel and Arianna Hi everyone.. here's our blog to help us remember where we've been and to tell all our friends and family what we are up to. After a few years living and working between Cornwall (England), and Verona (Italy) we are back to travelling. We've already been happy and confused walking around East Africa, the Middle East or various countries surrounding India, so this time we are planning to bimble our way through China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Rarotonga and end our trip on the west coast of the States.

Love N&A xx

Hi dearest ones, Back again with yet another update to our travelling saga.. Strange to think we've already had 10 days in Sydney and our Australian leg has come to an end.. it feels like we've just arrived to tell the truth.. Maybe we should start again?? Maybe not, we've just checked the bank balance!! Oh well, so what's new? Well, we made it to Sydney with no scary dips out of the sky (luckily Quantas' flights were more expensive!!) and amazed ourselves with getting a great deal on a posh hotel right in the heart of the city. We've had [View Full Entry]

G'day Pommes.. How is everyone?? Hope you are all fine.. Here, we're still having a brilliant time in Australia. Can't believe our luck to be honest, as we've had more "jammy" things happen than we deserve really, what with the weather, people we've met, places we've discovered (without a clue before we arrived) and all the fun things we've been up to.. ok, so what's new? We had a great time at Alice Springs. Saw an amazing comedian at the Alice Desert Festival called Mal Webb, which I can't recommend enough.. (you can see clips of him performing live at his [View Full Entry]

We picked up the van (after a few cuddles from our "very" friendly car dealers) filled up the Eski (ice cooler), hit the Bruce highway and made our way to Dicky Beach. After the last few cities in Asia we felt like some peace and quiet, so ate veggie bugers by the sea and watched the sun set over the coast as a brilliant welcome to "down under". Next day we paid a quick visit to Steve Erwin's "Australia Zoo" (where Kangaroo's are as friendly as Phuket lady-boys - see pics!) and finally started out for the outback. Oh my god, [View Full Entry]

Dear all, After a few strange days in Phuket we shot a quick dash for Singapore. As we made our way out of Thailand the tv was filled with political stress and all locals were glued to the news stations watching events unfold. Hope things don't get any more heated for them - the government certainly likes to over-react to any form of protest. Thai people were so friendly and kind, would hate to see more lovely people getting less than they deserve from yet another currupt leadership... Feels so familiar, China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia... etc, etc, etc.. Women of [View Full Entry]

A big Sawatdee Khrab to you all! Hope life is treating everyone well and that you are all wearing as big smiles as Arianna and I have been lately. Ok, where to start?? Since leaving Ah Nong, we made our way along the southern coast of Thailand and eventually on to the infamous Phuket. Oh god, where can I start? Maybe it's the 50-80 year old Europeans, walking around with their hands on the arse of young Thai girls, or maybe the offer of yet more ping-pong shows (The balls fly even further than those in Bangkok apparently!) or that the [View Full Entry]

Best not to drive a bike infront of this guy

Hi all, Since last scribbling a few notes, the sun has arrived with a vengeance! Arianna is on cloud nice drifting gradually from light coffee to darker shades... I am melting, currently moving from salmon pink to sun-kissed lobster. My nose remains a constant bright red glow - a visual hazard at night to low flying aircraft. We had a few wonderful days at Langkawi, hiring a car and zooming around the island - Watched monkeys taking life easy, birds drifting all around the coast and people generally living the mellow side of life. Just like Cornwall really. We even spent [View Full Entry]

It's never quite what you'd expect is it? Paradise that is.. I'm sure the island we are on is listed as a true "paradise", a "heaven on earth" so to speak - but I can't shake the nagging feeling that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Raining cats and buckets is not on the menu for "picture postcard", neither is receiving the evil eye from a British thug, snake skins on the pavement or Ari's insistance that we look for a room without TV (so we can read more).. Has she learnt nothing about me after all these years??? [View Full Entry]

If I see another temple this week I'm going to crack! Actually it's getting so bad, that anything old is starting to get a grumble from me today.. I even growled at myself in the mirror having a shave this morning.. Nearer to 40 than 30 I thought.. Grrr.. All is well and wonderful here in Cambodia. I continue to annoy Arianna with my (as I like to call it) Prison mostach.. (or gay handlebar face hair as she calls it). I am however NOT swayed, especially as a fellow prison mostachio waved to me from his tuk-tuk this morning as [View Full Entry]

This will be a real quickie as we are trying to decide how to get out of Cambodia - will add a new and complete entry when we are finished with Angkor. The news in brief is; My ankle is almost 100% back to normal. Arianna loves Cambodian fruit smoothies. Cambodian's beat Vietnamese with 6 people to a bike, rather than a measley 5. I played with some musicians at the palace, and made all of them laugh when I tried to improvise! We found the worst hotel known to man the first night we arrived. We moved the next day [View Full Entry]
