I am brutally honest and unfocused:

I believe in saying everything you feel because much unhappiness has come into this world because of things left unsaid.

I want to meet new people, see the world, and learn a little bit of everything. :)

Lisa is here! It is so great to have family down here... I have definitely been feeling slightly homesick! Lisa arrived last Sunday and it has been great. We had lunch with Georgette on day 1. She even made some of her famous pancakes for Lisa! I was super proud of Lisa too...considering she hasn't used Spanish for years, she spoke quite well! After lunch we headed out on the town and I had the chance to give her a mini-tour of my southern abode. I kicked off the tour in San Telmo. Sunday's are great because of the feria that [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Bariloche

Three words describe this trip: hiking. chocolate. snow. It was a truly majestic place and the trip was an absolute pleasure. For the first time all semester, we stayed in a real hotel instead of a hostel, flew 2 hours by airplane instead of a 20-hour bus trip, and took private tours of just about ever nook and cranny in the area. Best part: it was all paid for by COPA, our program. :) We stayed in El Hotel Amancay, which was possibly located in the most beautiful spot ever. It was right along side a lake and surrounded by [View Full Entry]

Susan and I
with the flag of the province of Córdoba
It's Thursday and I am still tired from my chaotic but unforgettable weekend... A week ago I ventured west to the city of Córdoba. It was the most disorganized trip I have ever been on but I loved every spontaneous moment. I left Thursday night with Susan, Alejandro for Columbia, Martin and Martin's roommate, Patricia who is also from Holland. We arrived Friday morning in Córdoba with absolutely no plans. The first problem. We had to be back for class on Tuesday so first order of business was to buy the return tickets. We went from company to company looking for [View Full Entry]

More amazing travels! South America » Argentina » Salta » Salta
Hi! How are you? Hola! Cómo estás? Ciao! Come sta é? Ni hâo! Ni hâo ma? Bonjour! Se va? Shalom! Ma nishma? I've been accumulating how to say "Hi! How are you?" in different languages... So far I can correctly say this in English, Español, Italiano, Chino, Francés, y Hebrew. Last week I took one of the bigger trips of the semester. It's crazy the amount of traveling we have been able to do; I would compare it to traveling to every major city in the United States within 5 months. But hey, how often do I get to be in [View Full Entry]

Tah-dah!
Northern Argentina

Queridos!!! I hope all is well on your side of the globe! As of Thursday, I only have 100 more days in this amazing country. It was a little scary looking at my calendar. I am already going into midterms!!! My life has been anything but boring lately and I never want to leave. My birthday was a blast and I was smiling all week. I love and appreciate all of my friends here in Buenos Aires. I couldn't have asked to meet a better group of people, and I am so thankful that I have Susan here with me. We [View Full Entry]

Buenos Aires in the distance...
Me with my bike!
The whole group!

My 21st birthday finally came on the 6º de Septiembre, 2008 and guess what? The drinking age in Argentina is 18. It sort of puts a cap on the excitement, I must admit. However, there was no loss of fun by ANY means. Plus I wasn't subjected to a constant echo of "Hey! I bought you a(nother) birthday shot!" It was really more of a "birthday weekend" since the festivities began on Friday. I spent the afternoon on Friday baking my favorite cookies; Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. (minus the chocolate chips!) My great grandma's recipe, and I added a little icing, or [View Full Entry]

Hola!!! Just hanging out in the city of BA and enjoying the nice weather! It's almost officially spring and it's beautiful. I could wear a t-shirt and shorts but everyone would look at me like I'm crazy...they all still have on jackets and sweaters! If only they knew what a Wisconsin winter was like....then they'd understand! We went to Buenos Aires Fashion Week last Saturday. Lots of designers with beautiful clothing and accessories. I love the basic trends here. Everyone wears the cutest leather ankle boots, scarves, and I can't forget the flowers. There are these wacky flowers t [View Full Entry]

Hola! I am currently in Puerto Iguazú. We decided Thursday morning that we were going to go and then bought tickets to leave that evening. I love being impulsive, it´s so exciting! Anywho, Iguazú is where the "cataracas" (waterfalls) are. It´s a little city in northern Argentina and I´m in love with it. We came with our new friends; Javier (Carla introduced us), Martin from Holland, and Rouslana from Russia. It´s crazy the people I´ve met. I feel like I have a friend from every corner of the world. We arrived Friday morning after a 15 hour bus ride. The ride [View Full Entry]

Hello all! I´ve been so incredibly busy lately! Whoa! Classes began last Monday at la Universidad Católica Argentina and I´m super stressed. History is easy enough to understand, lots of new names of course, but it is the same format of learning as in the states. My marketing class, however, is proving to be quite stressful. I still don´t know how to find the syllabus, and to my knowledge we have no books, AND I am only vaguely catching on to the material we cover in class. I´m hoping it all becomes more clear next week...I need to find myself a [View Full Entry]

Wow...what a week so far! It is only Wednesday and I am so exhausted! I feel like I should be writing in Spanish because I have been thinking in Spanish since I stepped off of the plane. So what's new? Hmm... My host mom here- simply the best of them all. She accommodates me in every way; food (she feeds me far too much), technology (all the other students are scrambling for internet), and the language (still all spanish!). The food here is amazing! Lots of fruit and vegetables. The meat is super tender and wonderful. I don't think I've ever [View Full Entry]
