Kia Ora!! Sorry we are running way behind with this travel blog, between the difficulty getting internet access and the fact we are so busy sightseeing it just isn’t happening! Anyway as promised here is the Disneyland / Disney California Adventures update. We bought a pass which allows 3 days in Disneyland and Disney California Adventures and we are so glad we did - there was HEAPS to see and do. The 2 parks were side by side and so we could walk between them as we pleased. Disneyland: The atmosphere in Disneyland is awesome. We got pics with Mickey & Minnie in Toontown. In Toontown you can also walk through their houses which was cool. When it came to rides I wasn’t very brave, the most daring one that I did was the Indiana Jones. ... read more

Hi all After much hunting we finally have a home! We were originally looking at RVs (motorhomes) but there were very few available, we ended up going with the travel trailer option (kind of like a caravan). We also had to get a vehicle to tow it with and so bought a very nice 2000 gold Ford Expedition, a great buy. Nick got us a great price on the travel trailer (brand new) (thanks again Bob from Giant RV), He was very impressed with Nick's negotiation skills and commented on this a number of times! On the Sunday we went to Crystal Cathedral - just amazing. It is a huge glass cathedral with amazing gardens, sculptures, priceless artwork, fountains, a huge tower etc. They can even open up part of the wall of the cathedral if ... read more

We left for our trip on Monday the 1st - thanks to all the whanu for coming to see us off!! The 12 hour flight was long but not as bad as I had anticipated. Nick slept well but I only got 4 hours. Betty (my Nanas cousin) picked us up at the airport and took us back to her house for lunch. Her daughter Nancy then drove us all over town so that we could set up bank accounts etc - Cheers Nancy!! I had dinner with Betty and her family that night (Nick stayed back at the motel as he was sick) Betty also has family (including 2x nurse practitioner daughters) in other areas of the US so no doubt we will be paying them a visit at some point. Tuesday was largely spent ... read more

The thought of 3 Months holiday straight, sounded just too stressful for us :-). So off to Rarotonga with the family for 8 days of Rest and Relaxation to prepare psychologically for the big event. We stayed at the Sunset Resort (which is worth a trip if you get to Rarotonga) and got upgraded to beach front units! The resort is brand new after being rebuilt after the Hurricane. One of the first things we did was go to the Ministry of Transport to get our licence. The sign says it all. The days were spent enjoying the sun, swimming (mel spent a lot of time either in the pool or on the side with her book), and snorkeling (take bread with you'll love how the fish swarm arround you). The evenings had amazing sunsets as ... read more
