After quite a painless car and boat trip we arrived from Kuta Lombok to an island off Lombok called Gilli Air. This island had a couple of major differences from most places the first is to Nibby's delight no dogs allowed on the island, and the second no motorised transport all is done via traditional horse/pony and cart. With the diving course finished and the surf breaks too shallow for Matty and not much else to do we pushed onto our next destination Kuta Lombok which is extremely different to its sister Kuta Bali, its a dead quite place in the South of Lombok extremely dry and if you don't surf not much to do as Nibbler found out. Decided after another week of Kuta Bali action we needed to stretch our legs again and see what different places where like, so we took the bus and then boat to Nusa Lembongan an island just off the East coast of Bali. Went back to Kuta after Lovina to meet up with an Aussie couple Mat & Leisa who we met in Thailand. Matty picked up and ear infection which stopped him from any water activities for a week. We hired a motor bike and headed to Nusa Dua an area of Bali with really expensive hotels and private beaches but we didn't think the beach was that great!!!We did have great fun watching a non-English white couple try and take the perfect picture of the girl in Sea, they did not like it when we started taking pictures of them taking pictures!!! We then headed to Medewi a point break in West Bali not much here and there was no beach for Nibby to sit on just rocks but the waves were good, it was hard work climbing over the rocks to get in/out of the sea but worth it!!! 2 days and 3 surfs later we headed to Lovina!! We found a cool hotel in Lovina it had an open air bathroom was really weird taking a shower and looking at the moon and the stars. Bali - 14th August 08 Matty: Surf, Sun, Paradise well at least it was when we arrived on the 14th August we found a cool hotel in Kuta Beach with pool and the first few days there was nought but Blue Skies!!! We toped up our fading tans and got into the groove with a bunch of Austrian surfer dudes and had a carnage night out for Daniels (Austrian Surfer) 26th birthday. Siem Reap Nibby- I'm sat here on the terrace of our poolside room in Bali reflecting on our time spent in Cambodia... It's very hard to put into words just how humbling the whole experience has been, but here goes... When we arrived in Siem Reap we checked into Yellow Guesthouse with extremely friendly staff and excellent nosh! After 3 days of hardcore travelling we didn't do much exploring that day! 3rd August Nibby- What a beautiful island! Long golden sandy beaches laced with coconut trees and lush resorts with sea view bungalows. We got a lovely bungalow a stones throw from the sea. Only problem being that in all the time we've been here we've only had about 2 hours of sunshine. D'oh! I had a really lovely birthday, strange, but lovely! Used to having lots of friends and family over for the usual Woburn Sands shenanigans, this was quite different. Matty spoilt me good and proper.
