Nibby- Well, it's been a fun packed few weeks since our last blog entry, I hardly know where to begin! Oh of course, we just left the stunning warm beaches of the Coromandel Peninsular and were headed for stinky Rotorua. Those of you who have been to Rotorua will know what I'm talking about! Lets just say, when Matty let one rip I couldn't tell the difference for the strong smell of sulphur all around. It was that bad! Our first day in Rotorua we checked out the sky ride and luge. For those of you who haven't (yet) experienced the [View Full Entry]

So after our short break in England we're back out continuing our travels. Thanks to everyone for everything whilst we where back it was lovely to see and spend time with all. On January 11th it was time to bring on New Zealand (NZ) WHOORAAA except the journey to get there DOH!!! We left England a super quick trip down the trusty M1 and round the M25 to Heathrow's brand new Terminal. After coffee and goodbye's with Mum & Dad Hamer at the airport we were officially on our way. We had a good look around Terminal 5 as it was [View Full Entry]

Australia zoo was calling! “Crikey! Have a go at that!” R.I.P. Steve Irwin. We got to the zoo at around midday and were just in time for the croc show at the famous crocacium where Steve used to prance around sticking his head in crocs mouths and other such antics. It was really good fun to watch and Matt got a free photo of Steve feeding a croc for his awesome impression of a koala. I use the word 'awesome' losely. He didn't actually do much, but then, I suppose neither do koalas! The highlight of the day for me was [View Full Entry]

The Great Ocean Road aboard our new home and transportation Beverly on its first drive we took it easy and only drove the 50km or so to Torquay all SEEMED well and we stopped and Nibby attempted Vietnamese noodle soup it was good but not quite like the real thing. Torquay is the only real town of any substance for the next 100-200km so we stopped to do some shopping Matty decided that the sea was way to cold to surf without a wetsuit so we picked up two in the sales before trucking off. Had a lovely walk along the [View Full Entry]

Nibby- The closest campsite we could find to Brisbane was about a 45 minute bus ride away. We went into the city only once, neither of us enjoyed the bus ride! The rain came so we spent time looking round the art galleries and walking along the river in our macs. Brisbane didn't particularly stand out to us but I think the weather didn't help matters! Matts Auntie Julie and Uncle Colin had arrived in Oz for Colin's cousin Sues wedding which so happened to be in Brisbane so we took a day trip to visit them. It was really lovely [View Full Entry]

Australia- Sydney to Melbourne Nibby- It was the strangest feeling arriving in Sydney International airport and being met by Mum and Dad Hamer! We spent the first 10 days in Oz travelling down south to Melbourne with them in their hire car as Matty and I searched for a camper. Can't believe how chilly it is here after coming from Indo. It's jeans and jumpers for us! It was a beautiful drive along the Pacific Highway and on the first couple of days we didn't actually cover that many miles because we were drawn into all the gorgeous bays and lookouts [View Full Entry]

Nibby- Now things were beginning to get interesting. We carried on up the coast to one of my favorite places, Byron Bay. This place really is a traveler’s heaven. We got lucky with the weather too and finally got some long awaited sunshine. Not much, but a little. Matt got to do some surfing and I enjoyed playing on my body board. We spent about 5 days here in total and met some lovely kiwi guys called James and Spud. They were staying next door to us at the campsite and we ended up going out a couple of times with [View Full Entry]

Kuta, Bali take 3 Asia » Indonesia » Bali » Kuta
Nibby- So here we find ourselves, back in Kuta, we just can't seem to keep away from the place! The journey over from Gili Air was a gruelling 13 hour day. Firstly, a horse and cart picked us up from our accommodation, shortly followed by a half hour boat ride back to mainland Lombok. Then a minivan ride to the Islands capital, Mataram. From there, we managed to get our very own car to the port while everyone else was squashed into a minivan (felt VERY Victoria Beckham I can tell you! So Matt's surfboard does have it's uses after all!). [View Full Entry]
