Saigon to Bangkok Hello all, from Bangkok! As always, loads has happened since I last wrote a blog, and I'm just barely finding the time to add another...but I still love to share my adventures so here they are! Since I last wrote, I have visited South Vietnam and Cambodia. Both places were amazing to visit, and probably my favorite part of the trip so far (or at least tied with the Philippines...maybe I'm just having a good time all around, eh?). The people have been wonderful, the food is getting progressively better and better as I go along, and [View Full Entry]

Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh Wow, a lot has happened since I last blogged...I will try to sum everything up as best as I can though :) Vietnam has been a real experience so far and I'm really enjoying it. It's loud, it's hectic and it's terribly interesting. Today I am in Ho Chi Minh city (formerly known as Saigon), and I just arrived on the overnight train from Nha Trang. Here's what I've been up to on my way here... After Sapa, we had a free day in Hanoi and met the next section of our tour group. Everyone [View Full Entry]

To Vietnam Xin Chao from Vietnam! I am now in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. It's a very nice city. Just as crazy as I expected, but not too crazy to handle, and many steps down from Manila on the craziness scale. On my way to this country, I traveled via Hong Kong, and Singapore (geographically this doesn't make sense at all, but such is life when you want the cheapest flights!). I had an overnight stop in Singapore. I spent a very very lovely evening with my dad's cousin Sandra, and her husband Dave. They took me on [View Full Entry]

To Boracay Hello all! Toady I am writing from Boracay Island - it's a little touristy island just south of the Romblon Province, and it is absolutely gorgeous! A very nice change from the polluted and congested Manila, especially since I've got a thing for islands and beaches. The remainder of my time in Manila was spent slowly working on building the library cabinet for the community I mentioned in my last blog. Unfortunately, we were unable to finish the project while I was still in Manila, but I'm sure it will be completed shortly and donated to the kids [View Full Entry]

Back to Manila Magandang Umaga po! So here I am, already into Week 3 of my Philippines Adventure. Time has just FLOWN by, I can't believe I'm nearing the end of my project already. As always, I am having a great time and am experiencing new things every day. There has been a change of plans for my project, and after finishing up the work at Carmen Daycare Center, I have returned to Manila for the remainder of my volunteer work here in the Philippines. Sadly, this meant leaving Romblon early...but the work I will be doing in here in [View Full Entry]

From Manila to Romblon Hello all! As always, Lots has happened since I last made an entry on my blog. And, as per my last entry, I continue to have an amazing time here in the Phils. It is fantastic here! Especially now that I have acclimatized, am no longer fearing my imminent death due to heat exhaustion and my sunburns are starting to heal ;) My first order of business today is to tell you more about my volunteer project. As you already know, I am working with CERV-Philippines (Center for Volunteerism), a local NGO which is based in [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! When last I wrote, my adventure had just begun. And although my journey is still in it's early phases, I have had many new adventures in the last week! We'll start with my official welcome to the Philippines. Raymund, Pom and Eden took it upon themselves to welcome Chris and I to the Philippines properly by feeding us some traditional Filipino food, including (but not limited to) animal intestine, fried blood and liver, and worst of all, the crowned king of make-you-queasy food, Balut. For those of you unfamiliar with this Filipino delicacy, as I was, Balut is [View Full Entry]

34 Hour Trip to Manila Hello from the Philippines! So here I am. After approximately 34 hours of traveling, and a few more waking hours after that, I made it all the way to the other side of the world. There was lots of confusion navigating foreign airports (except Hong Kong, it's the most well organized and pretty looking airport I've ever been to!), but nothing has been more confusing yet than Manila itself. Manila is crazy! It's nuts here! It is a very interesting city, full of character. I certainly get stared at alot (so far). The heat is [View Full Entry]

Medicine Hat Trip, Easter 2007 Hello everyone, and welcome to my first blog of my South East Asian Adventure. However, this entry will actually not be from South East Asia. This is just a practice blog to make sure I know how to use the blog site, know how to upload pictures, and just to make sure everything works as it should :) So here's the story of my Easter vacation! Glenn and I drove down to Medicine Hat on Friday morning (April 6th). The drive was nice, and we didn't encounter any horrible weather, which is really a treat [View Full Entry]
