Whhooooweee. Hi Kids..Congrats! I rode that route 6 or 7 times...once coming from Luang Prabang toward the bottom of the descent I saw something so fantastic that I locked up the brakes to get the foto op..bald front tire blew and I crashed..head over heals into the burrow pit....pretty banged up and the lovely girl in skirt and pink blouse and conical straw hat with the AK-47 across her shoulders merely glanced back at me and kept walking..Rose and the Sword would have been my award winning foto's title...but she never stopped walking away...As for y'all..it must have a really really hot one to Ride in April...good on ya! now what? love joriver
bumpy ride That's a good technique with your bike tire. How long did you have to ride like that? Looks like fun, except all the smoke but it's all part of the experience. Talk to you soon, hey not like you guys know but where are you headed next?
many blessings!! hello family! glad to see your trip is gouing so beutifuly. Im doing BC to baja in 2008, but until then ill be living in willits! peace and love
Walkin the Talk Kids, Ya'll never stop showing me just how FREAKIN amazing you are. With no fear and open hearts you go where others only dream. This fuzzy old hippy is PROUD to call you my friends. LOVE YA, Roy WW.
wowwheeee! Hi Kids! I rode that same road I think and crossed that same lonely border butit was I guess 7 hears ago...I was headed down toward Cambodia...but it was a different place I rode...no pave' [all dirt with huge craters that I assumed were evidence of the 500# pounds courtesy of The American Fast War Franchises....anyway the same border crossing and was not allowed to cross until I paid a bride of $25 USD...which does not sound like much but in that area was a huge sum....I imagine Simon's conjecture about the road and logging is true...as when I road the jungle forest was everywhere....anyway I am reliving my adventure through you two...also rode the BlovenPlateu....enjoy...you are going to love Vientienne...my favorite capital in the world (until I was in Addis Ababa...hmmm well maybe not...too many vehicles in Addis but the people and culture....wowwhee)...So Simon and Nickster keep going...if you go long enough I will meet you on the road next winter...All Love Surrounds You...per ususal..hah joriv
Hi Simon and Nikki!
Wonderful to hear of your travels. Your mom (Shannon) told me about the website so I could check it out. I'm passing it on to my husband, James, so he can see, too. Stay safe and healthy!

Jour in Cambodia Hey there-
It's so great to hear news of your travels and see where you've been. Simon's juggling rountine entertained me greatly, especially because I'm teaching a class this trimester called drums, sticks ,and tricks in which we'll be doing hand drumming, xylophone playing and juggling. It's so refreshing to hear from you both. I was thinking about you recently too as I was glancing a copy of the continuum concept with dog eared pages that came directly from the annals of your library. Every time see it, I'm thinking of a way that I can get it back to you. Even apart, in the heart, my feelings of gratitude radiate for your love and friendship. Keep the adventures rolling.

Im just here in Argentina to extend my visa and looking forward to another 3 months in Brazil. I especially falled in love in a national park in Bahia that is called chapada diamantina and is fulled of flowers, mountens and waterfalls, perfect fore trekking and free camping. Looking forward to meet you again one day my dear friends. your half crazy swedish friend.
Great Sites and Sights Thanks for the update.....great mix of you, the people, the countryside, and the animals. Writing is so descriptive and your heart-felt thoughts come through loud and clear. What a comparision between temples there and those of the Mayans. Looking forward to hearing more.....
!!! Its sound s like another form of heaven(if heaven existed). I'm glad you guys had so much fun, it sounds great. Rach and I have debated going to the next national gathering, but we aren't sure. I'm glad popcorner was a hit again. I think I might be ready to eat a ton of popcorn again when summer roles around. Have a happy and safe adventure.

Made me smile to see your photo of a 'south of the border mom' who likes to make sweets for her guests. Love you two.
