This weekend I lost my Eurostar virginity and found the answer to an age old question. In order to do so, I headed back to Reims for more champagne tasting - this time with some of the netball crew. In order to get us in the mood - Andrea hosted a pre champagne tasting champagne tasting at her place. Based on blind tasting, the Tesco champers came out tops ... but don't think we don't know our stuff - last year the experts agreed and gave it the top award. Now to the Reims weekend - let's start with the Eurostar [View Full Entry]

Now, you know how I like to be doing what all the kids are doing. Well, all the kids in London go to Ibiza, so obviously, I had to check it out. It’s not my fault that I somehow ended up attending a bucks weekend (I didn’t know when I booked the tickets - promise). Luckily, I am one of the blokes - and … there was another girl. We both adopted boys names for the weekend, so it was like we weren’t even there! Now, obviously, what goes on tour stays on tour, so I can’t write that much (thank [View Full Entry]

Another day another 30th. This weekend my brother's girlfriend turned 30 and we celebrated in Barcelona. We all had a lovely time, including a delicious dinner at a 'typico' Spanish restaurant in the Old Town. Adam also arranged for hundreds of balloons (possibly a slight exaggeration, but it sure felt like a lot to those of us co-opted to blow them up) and champagne in our apartment as a pre-dinner treat (awwww, he is a new age man after all!). Actually, we had great food the whole time we were in Barcelona - how can you go wrong with tapas [View Full Entry]

177,500 people, 900 acres, over 350 acts ... I guess I should have known that everything associated with such a massive event was going to be a mission. So here it is ... my Glasto experience!!! Mission 1 - Getting tickets If it was not for Phillips, I would not have got Glasto tickets (champion). First, you had to send in a photo and register for your ticket. Then you had to log on at 9am on a Sunday morning to try and get tickets (with a maximum of 4 per punter). Unluckily, on the 'great ticket buying day', both Adam [View Full Entry]

There is nothing like your little brother turning 30 to make you feel old. Luckily, this is not a blog about me, but about my brother’s 30th birthday bash, so you are spared any ‘poor me’ rant. To celebrate my brother entering his fourth decade (OK - that IS scary) he organised a camping adventure in Wales. The guest list was limited to the elite - only 8 made the cut. Six of us headed to Wales in the 'party van', arriving just in time to have to put our tent up outside the official camp grounds (quiet camping time [View Full Entry]

Getting steeper
Really steep
Really, really steep

On the first weekend in June I met up with my mate Warwick, who had been doing the 'great castle tour' of Scotland and Northern England, in York. Was great to catch up with another Aussie friend, and to check out the walled city of York (I love a good wall!!). Why does it have the wall? To keep the rabbits out, of course. Just jokes, the wall dates back to Roman times where they protected a Roman fort, but were later used when York was invaded by the Vikings and Normans ... and to protect against anti-tax rioters. Apparently, York [View Full Entry]

Now, everyone knows how EXCITED I was about a trip back to Sydney ... and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Didn't head home for any particular reason so had plenty of time for catching up with family and friends - a perfect trip (if only it was a bit longer). It's lucky there are only three meals in a day (plus morning and afternoon tea of course) or I would have had to roll onto the plane. I think I managed to book myself in for an 'event' for nearly every meal. Was great to see the family [View Full Entry]

Yep - you can do all that (and probably more) in Amsterdam, where I headed on the bank holiday weekend (that’s what they call them here, instead of ‘long weekend’) with Grace (a friend from Oz who now works with me - yes it is a small world), her husband and a mate of his. Before we went, we had some difficulty getting accommodation. We were trying for a houseboat or an apartment, but the fact that we only wanted to stay two nights meant nothing was available. There was also a lack of hotel rooms (excepting the extraordinarily expensive ones). [View Full Entry]

And ....castles, chocolate, croissants, consumption… Cheers! Had a great Easter in France with my brother, his girlfriend and some of her mates. We hired cars and drove from London, going via the Eurotunnel from Folkestone (near Dover) to Calais. The Eurotunnel is great - you drive your car in and are in France in 35 minutes (driving on the other side of the road!!). We spent our first two nights in a guesthouse in a small town near Reims, one of the towns at the start of the ‘Champagne Route’. As you can imagine, none of us had any desire to [View Full Entry]
