Nathanho7 - Nathan Ho

Nathan Ho Hello all,

I'm new to the traveling scene. I'm a Canadian and a recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario. A city boy who lives in Toronto and now making the move to the hustle and bustle city of Hong Kong. Open and wanting to meet as many people as possible in order to get advice, tips, and encouragement on my new life adventure. Wish me luck!

Forget the sleeping in, the excitement of running downstairs to the Christmas tree, the morning coffee accompanied by some dessert and cookies leftover from Christmas Eve's dinner party, the smell of pine in a warm house happy to be snug inside. Forget the Christmas day skating and winter activities, the hot chocolate waiting for you in a thermos on the side of the hockey rink, the coming home and getting ready for a family Christmas day dinner. This year, I did things differently. I went to MACAU! I didn't have much planned, but Christmas eve night, I accompanied my friends Nick, [View Full Entry]

So it was a rainy weekend, originally had plans to head to Sai Kung for a day-long hike. Shawn and I said, screw it, let's just get out and do something, we're in HK for goodness sake. So, we did something that both of us had not done before and wanted to check out a museum (the best thing to save for a rainy day). In HK there are a lot of them around, lots of art exhibits, and many events around the city happening all the time as this city is always busy. Here are some of the pictures of [View Full Entry]

Hello Family and Friends! Let's just skip all the "Sorry I haven't been on in a while"-"Remember me?"-"I promise to write more" bullshit and carry straight to the good stuff you've been waiting for. So, what have I done since my last post? Well, Christmas holidays!!! I hope you've all eaten to your hearts content and were able to spend the precious time with family and friends, merrily listening to carols, sitting by the fire roasting chestnuts, took the time to do some skating or played ice hockey, baking baked goods, and enjoying the smell of fresh pine. What can I [View Full Entry]

Hey Everybody! Remember me??? I have now been a real live working man for about 2 weeks. This explains my lack of blogging for some time. I have begun my life, or so they say. I work for a company called Pacific Coffee here in Hong Kong and right now am really busy but am liking it a lot. Instead of giving you day to day updates, here are a bunch of recent pics of my activity from the past three weeks in Hong Kong. The weather has been absolutely beautiful. What more can you ask for if you have blue [View Full Entry]

Day Seven - Till Next time Hey, so my last morning in Shanghai, waking up to beeping motorcycles, buses, and cars. Had to get up early to day to venture out to the airport. I took the crazy train called the MagLev from Shanghai to Pudong. AKA the Shanghai Magnetic Levitation Demonstration Operation Line. Normally a 45 minute car ride and intensely squished into a 8 minute magnetic bullet train experience! I had the option to take a taxi, call a driver, but nooooo way was I passing up this opportunity. Some detail of this ride include: The journey takes [View Full Entry]

Day Five means more Fantastic Food Today I met up with Niall again to continue our political encounters in Shanghai (funny that it worked out this way), yesterday was the American Presidential Election and how appropriate would it be to check out the China Propaganda Museum? The Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center has the best collection in the world of the Chinese propaganda posters from 1949-1979. With couple of hundreds of pieces out of its collection of over 4000 original posters on display. In those thirty years there was one man always shone in the sky [View Full Entry]

Day Four of my Romantic Getaway with my 3 Favourite People Yesh, it was me, myself, and I that had continued our lovers tour of Shanghai. Today, I realized how much I could actually eat and was the first time I realized you can eat like a pig, even if you're not on a cruise ship. In Shanghai, this is easy to do with how inexpensive the food is. So my friend Niall from The Marina Grille, the restaurant that I have been working at for about 7 or 8 years (yes, I started at a very tender age and [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Day Three of the Shanghai adventure! Last night was quite a doozy and didn't have the best sleep as I didn't go to bed until VERY late. What's the best thing to do? Walk it off...and that I did. I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood. Venture out a little bit into the unknown. Risky. Scary. Fun! After this day, I have concluded that I really do like this place. There seems to be a bit of a contrast in regards to the development of the city of Shanghai. In some areas, you will see quite [View Full Entry]

I apologize for being a little M.I.A. with my blogging. I was actually in Shanghai for a week and had limited time to blog! Sorry everyone! These next few blog entries will be posted day by day. I took the time to write emails to myself about everyday on my trip, but I just didn't post them because I didn't want to exclude the pictures. I am holding back so as to relive the moments once again! I love the excitement and keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. Here it is. DAY 1 - Okay... Heeeere we goooo! My [View Full Entry]

So I couldn't wait and just put up one day! Here it is folks: Day Two in Shanghaiiiii Today I ventured out by myself. Ayaaaa (what Chinese people do to express surprise, frightfulness, or shock)! No not really too scared, just excited. The very first thing was to eat some breaky. Right at the foot from the apartment, is a tiny little dumpling place where they fry them in a huge wok right on the sidewalk and passersby will come and buy a bag of about 8 delicious, crunchy, golden brown and soft and piping hot on the inside filled with [View Full Entry]
