Ben and Nat's tour around the world!

Asia January 10th 2012

Big fat slacker. Yes I’m aware that this is what I became when I got to Asia, but then who can blame me for wanting to be outside all of the time instead of finding a clammy, sweaty and sticky internet cafe on the other side of the world to write a blog?! Well most of you know that I’m back in the land of cold weather and thought it would be a good opportunity to do my last blog now instead of other jobs I should be doing...ironically job hunting being one of the these. The trip to Asia began in Malaysia where we had around a week to explore Kuala Lumpur before meeting Ben’s sister in Krabi (Thailand), therefore we didn’t hang around and made the most of walking around this extremely varied city. ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Mooloolah November 16th 2011

Hey, so we're nearing the end of our time in Oz; off to Brisbane today for the last few days, but have been given free internet here so thought I would do the blog now because I'm cheap and skint. Sorry about that. We had a wonderful time on the Great Barrier Reef a couple of weeks ago - Green Island was absolutely beautiful (as are everything 'Green' in my opinion) and we were able to snorkel with stunning fish/creatures...until I got a load of salt water in my eyes, had a little fit and had to get out briefly. You could wonder around the island, so we did some exploring, had a picnic where a very odd looking bird (small version of Kevin from 'Up') decided to jump onto my lap and try to eat ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Cairns » Cairns City » Inn The Tropics October 30th 2011

I'm trying to remember where I got up to the last time I wrote...ah the glaciers. Well the half day hike turned out to be plenty of time and we were both shattered by the end of it, strangely the worst part is getting to the glaciers, as the trek to the top is pretty rocky and so steep! I did feel at one point as though I was going to keel over, which was an interesting experience. We were treated to a free experience of the outdoor hot pools they had on offer afterwards though, 36, 38 and 40 degrees of pure heaven. On our way to Wanaka, we stopped at Lake Mattheson which even though it was incredibly early, was the most beautiful sight of mountains, nature, water, mist in the middle of nowhere ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand » South Island » Franz Josef October 14th 2011

Well we have now been in New Zealand for just over two weeks, so as we are half way through our time here I thought I would update you all on what has been happening as it has been pretty crazy! After arriving in Auckland after a mammoth flight, the first couple of days were pretty easy going, went to the rugby fan zone - which the big rugby ball surprised us both immensely as a superb 10 minute film was projected onto the ceiling, giving us the illusion that we were actually inside a real-life ruby ball - as well as beginning the Lord of the Rings craziness by already meeting Gollum and an Orc. The real fun began a couple of days later when we were introduced to the Kiwi Experience bus... As soon ... read more

North America » United States » Nevada » North Las Vegas October 2nd 2011

I am already proving to be a slacker when it comes to these blogs, it's just so difficult to find the time. Ok so here's goes Las Vegas in a short and sweet paragraph (as I'm majorly tired...): So we arrived after a fairly short flight to be greeted with plenty of mental casinos-in the airport. I had to drag Ben away from these as I felt we would never actually get to Vegas itself. Eventually we were greeted by my lovely mother and father, who carried our bags to our rooms and got us ready to see Las Vegas The Show, which they had already kindly booked for us. What a great way to start the trip! Lots of singing, dancing and women wearing...well, not a lot, but it was a fun-filled evening that we ... read more

North America » United States » California » San Francisco » Union Square September 19th 2011

So part one of our adventure has almost come to an end, but what an amazing time we've had in San Fransisco! I'll try to keep this fairly short and sweet, especially as the internet cafe we're using keeps losing wifi grrr... Arriving after what felt like the longest journey on the Monday evening, we headed straight to our dorm to try and get some rest - although I think my adrenalin must have been buzzing, as I didn't sleep the entire night....hence my tired face in some of the pics from the next day! We spent the first part of the trip down by Fisherman's Wharf, admiring Alcatraz from afar, wondering around many of the shops and art galleries on the way to Pier 39. Once we arrived we could completely understand why this place ... read more
