Day 10-Queen Charlotte Track Hike Alex dragged our butts for a 23.7Km hike today through forest, desert, hills and by the end it was hell for Moe, but it was his honeymoon day so I sucked it up and lead most of the way!!! Anyway, we finished it and it was worth it, even the terrible down hills. After the hike we headed back to the Sennen House and rested our tootsies and then decided we needed to walk a little more and headed back into town for dinner. BTW, the Kiwi's idea of nachos are tortilla chips, hot tomato sauce and melted cheese. Not so good, but Alex finished them off without missing a chip. We then walked back home and watched a really old episode of Prison Break. They are about 6 weeks behind ... read more

Day 8 - Last night we spent our first tonight together at a B&B and I (Alex)spent my first night at a B&B. It was interesting to say the least. This morning we got up and had breakfast with a nice couple from England then started on the first hike of the day. We spent the first part walking along the ocean looking at a seal colony. We then headed up hill and did the cliff top walk. We left Kaikora around 1:00 PM after having lunch at Subway (tried to save a little money, Subway here is similar but not the same as in the States). We drove North to Picton and drove through more wine country. It was very pretty! We arrived in Picton and checked into the next B&B which is absolutely amazing!!! ... read more

Day 6 - Today we slept in a little bit as the weather was cool, and the room we had did not have AC. Once we got our butts out of bed and made our way to b-fast at Poppies, once again, Alex noticed the snow capped Mtn.s. We had spent the day before in the pouring rain in those mtns. Once on the road we headed to Christchurch, the first named city in New Zealand. It reminded us of Montreal a little bit, but much calmer. There was a big rugby game being played last night and the visiting team was staying on the same floor as us in the hotel. They are huge!! Anyway, after showering and relaxing for a bit we headed out to grab some dinner, which was harder than it should ... read more

Day 3 - Pictures only (finally figured out how to upload) Day 4 - Today finally got to sleep in a little. We picked up a rental car and started on a driving adventure (putting the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car is a mistake). We left Queenstown and headed North to Twizel. We arrived in Twizel around 4:00 PM at our B&B to find out there had been a mistake with the booking. Sandy & Ian at Aoraki Lodge were awesome they helped us find another room. We checked into our rooms and then rented some bikes for a ride around town, by the end both bikes had flat tires and Moe had a sore butt. We had drink at Poppies and then decided to come back for dinner after showers. The ... read more

Day 3 Today was amazing. We started at 7:30 AM, when our tour guide David picked us up at our hotel. Ends up that they only had us today so we got a personalized driving tour (in a Mercedes). We stopped for tea in Te Anua and then proceed on into Fiordland National Park. This is the SW corner of the country and it was like being in Yosemite but on STEROIDS! The area was formed by glaciers and was brilliant. We proceed to Homer Tunnel (over 1 mile long) and we were then on the West side of the mountains. This area receives around 6 meters (18 feet) of rain per year. There was moss on everything and it was brilliantly green. We arrived in Milford Sound (Sounds are created by water, Fiord's are created ... read more

Day 2 Today we arrived in NZ around 7am. Moe's new best friend (nothing personal Ves and Gill) is Tylenol PM. I actually slept on the the plane. Although the seats on the upper deck of the plane were quite comfy with fleece blankets and other goodies, the meds helped and kept Alex sane!! The free champagne was great too, Cali I had 1 for you. Once we got through customs and biosecurity we hoped another plane to the South Island. Queenstown is great with a lot of hiking right in town. We kept ourselves awake with a 4 hour hike on 1 mile creek and to the top where there is a gondola ride (we didn't do it CF's, we came down on foot) and a cool wheel luge, which we also didn't do because ... read more

Today we awoke at 4:30 AM (EST) at home in Alpharetta, GA. We had Sam Herr (Mom & Dad's Golden Retreiver) and Teton (Our puppy black lab mix). We were loading the car to take the dogs to Alex's parents house when... Sam decided to go for a walk without his leash or either of us. After Moe was able to get Sam to try to go back to the house we were under way again. We dropped of the dogs and then picked up our driver (Daniel Herr) and left for the airport. Once at our gate Moe realized that she had left her drivers license at home. No worries she had her passport and Alex would be afraid if she had it because then she could drive in NZ. The travels began this morning ... read more
